It doesn't work that way anyplace in the US, and anyone accepting "help" from a lying, scofflaw debt collector walks straight into a messy "predicament".

I'm sure you wish there were "no laws" controlling you. Once more for the dunces, a defaulted payday loan *IS STILL A LOAN* and not "check fraud". If you did not issue the loan, you are defined *as a third party agency* by the FTC. Therefore it is consumer debt, the FDCPA applies, and the people you like to bully into paying unverified debt have rights.

Caller Rick Cherry, exact same format: very rude tone, bombarded my boyfriend's and my phone 10 times (5 each,) same language, that he has 'one chance', giving the claim to him at home and work.... but needing his address and for him to call a third party without any info at all. 888-418-0854 was where he said to call. sooooo shady. No info about it being a debt, not where it's from... shady.

This people are a scam, Said they were collecting for a payday loan with Advanced America.  I called Advanced America and they do not use a collection company by this name.  They also stated that you can NOT be arrested for not paying a payday loan.  Its all a civil matter and would be handled in a correct manner, which is not what these people are doing.  She took down the companys info that I was given and the phone number they said to call, what the caller said and who all in my family they contacted.  She also stated that they are part of a Nationwide scam, cease all contact with them, do not return phone calls and do not give them any personal information.  She also gave me the number to the Federal Trade Commision and said to call them and file a complaint.  Here is the number 877-382-4357.   I hope this information helps others.

This is a scam they have stolen money from my relatives checking account.  One person will call and say they need to serve papers then give you a number to call to prevent being served.  Then another person on the phone wants personal information from you so they can assume your identity and steal from you.  Any law enforcement officers etc who serve you papers can easily find out your address and information without pulling the type of scam they are.  They are hard to find- the scammers- because they are using only a 800 number. Do not give out any info and ignore any comments on here sayibg this is real because they are probably writting the comments theirselves.  Sooner or later they are going to accidently pick a law enforcement family who will be able to trace their calls and they will be found.
