Solicitor who happens to have a name of someone in the company, usually working off an old solicitation list. Claims to have the persons direct number, but never uses it. The woman gets mad when you don't transfer to the President or CEO of the company. Total BS solicitation.

Just had two calls from Daniel with Provident Finance asking first for the Controller by name and expected me to transfer him right into Tom?s office. Fat chance Daniel! Then he called right back and asked for the Marketing Director. Again fat chance. ? Daniel, if you ever read this post do us all a favor find another line of work and let us do our jobs without being interrupted with unwanted phone calls.

Caller begins by simply saying the general manger's name in a question form. As in "John Doe?" Not "May I please speak to John Doe?" Since the Caller ID said "Pro Leasing" I surmised that it was a sales call and gave the standard response that the GM (whom she referred to as the CFO) was not available. (Yes, switchboard operators are actually instructed to say that to unknown callers.) Caller then asked to leave a message. I said she could try and transferred her to the junk voice mail box, per procedure. She bounced back to the switchboard immediately, and started to question me. She asked if "John Doe" was not available. I answered that I had already told her that he was not available. She then demanded to know why she was being sent to a voice mail. I explained that it was, in essence, a digital dustbin and her message would be ignored. (I don't control the GM. I just know that certain businesses call repeatedly and get absolutely nowhere. I was trying to save her time and trouble.) She then attempted to tell me that she had already spoken with the GM before and was performing a follow-up. (If so, why did she call him the CFO?) I informed her that the GM's policy is to give people he wants to speak to his direct number. (Hint: I was calling her out on an obvious LIE.) She repeated her lies and then accused me of being a rude person. Caller then hung up, quite obviously put out.
DON'T CALL US. WE'LL CALL YOU.
A lot of tele-sales people call me rude because I don't give them what they want. They expect instant access to members of management whenever they call, as if managers aren't busy trying to run a manufacturing facility or something. The phone system here is for the convenience of the company, not the convenience of callers. If the callers were willing to to pay the considerable phone bill here, they might have a leg to stand on. Until that happens, they'll be ignored, sent to pest control companies or the NIST time clock number. This business doesn't have time for their nonsense.

some woman calling asking for the IT director. i asked her where is she calling from because i noticed there are 3 other numbers similar to the one she called on and she said providence. soooooo i hung up on her. dont be a smart a*& when you call me, i am not the one to play with people.
