I received a message from - and I quote - "Officer Max Smallson from IRS Department; Internal Revenue Service" who announced that a case has been made against my name and that my name and identity are under investigation. His tone was very hostile. He said I must call him back at 202-241-2203 and if I don't, he will start his "legal process" against me. This man was obviously calling from an offshore call centre: the background was very noisy and he was not very good at reading the prepared script. Also, as a Canadian it's not likely I would be dealing with the "IRS Department". I guess scammers are trying new methods, but this sort of call could potentially frighten a vulnerable person. Shame on them!

I also got a call today.  A heavy accent guy left a message on my voice mail.  His message was that he is calling from IRS, my name and Identity is under investigation, I have been called several time before with no response (obviously a lie) and that I shall call him right away.  The call Initially worried me but when I goggled the number he provided (202-241-2203) and found out that this is scam, I felt much better.  I wish there was a way to punish these scam artists so that they learn a lesson.

I also just received a call from this number and they left a message on my phone.  they said they were officer Jason white with the irs investigation and that there were 3 federal charges against me.  I reported the incident to the IRS phishing@irs.gov which is for e-mail scams for those impersonating the irs. They had a very thick indian accent

With The # 1-202-241-2203 , He Then Proceeds To tell Me There Are 3-Pending Identity Charges Against Me , Using The Name-MATT BROWN     An  Internal Revenue Service. Officer.     And I'm To Call Him Back Before He Begins His Legal Procedures  At The same # OF.... 1-202-241-2203  !!!!!!!!!!   Thanks To The Search To see This Was A Scam   !!!  Thanks ALL Of YOU  !!!

I also got the same call from Craig Millar and when i call back that number , I got a voice mail greeting saying " This is office of Craig Millar of IRS legal dept" anyway I got a call back from so called Craig Millar, and he told me if I dont take care this right now , I will be arrested by the FBI/local police within an hour. I asked for for 5 minutes to think about it but he dont wanted to give me that 5 minutes. I put him on hold and called my local police to see if thats the case against me. By that time So call Craig Millar hung up on me. a police officer call me back later and we found out that its all scam. so dont believe any call from
Indian speaking country , do not provide any personal information and dont give any money over the phone.

Same thing just happened to my mom just now. She called me so upset. She said she called them back and no one answered and she was stressed. I googled the phone number and thanks to you guys realized it was a scam. she is relieved.

I got the same message today on my home phone from the same person "mr. Brown". It's scam. The irs get to reach you with a letter and always have the option to get a lawyer .

Same kind of phone call I got on 2/21/14 twice. 1st time no message left. The called back in 2 minutes leaving me message. I called back and he said his name was Neil Anderson from IRS and stated telling me that I owe IRS $$$ and need to pay right away with my credit card and I told him that I have to talk to my husband 1st before I pay you. At that time he started treathening me that I cannot call him and our conversation is monitored and recorded and if you hang up the phone will go against you. And we will be send your file to the state and police will be at your doorsteps in 1/2 hour to handcuff you and you will be taken to the prison where no bail will be provided and all your asset and property will be seized and all will be in no control of your. He insisted paying right away with credit card, I did not pay him so he got all upset and handup

Got my 2nd message Friday 2/21.  Seems  that in addition to owing $$ due to mistakes in my earned income tax credit, 3 federal charges have been filed against me.  Tone a bit more threatening this time.  Heavily accented caller hard to distinguish some of the words.  Loved the nice touch of wishing me a nice day after the threats.

Hi.  Where are you guys from? We got a call about "multiple felonies under investigation."  Sounded like he was in his car.  Haven't called back. Doesn't look like we have to!  

I got a call from "Officer Craig" with the Eye Are Yess. Scam. Where do I report these guys?

same thing with me.  Interesting that the guy called two people with the same last name (Meer).  

Left message that the IRS would start legal proceedings against me if I did not return his call. Caller ID showed "unknown name."

Same calls I received from these people. Plz do not share any information.

My mother got a message on her answering machine on 2/20/14 from an officer Daniel Brown... claiming to be with the IRS and that if he did not receive a call back from us, that they would proceed with legal action.  He also stated that the IRS was investigating our name and aliases..... obviously the same SCAM as listed above.

Morris, with the "Internal Revenue Department",  who has an almost unintelligible foreign accent, left a message on my phone saying that I am under investigation and if I don't return his call tonight he would start a legal process immediately.

Claimed to be from the "Eeenterrrnal Rrreeveenooo Seerveece" (IRS for those that don't speak "thick accent from another country") . I said "O another scam. Let me get my pencil so I can get all the information.." and he HUNG UP on ME!!!!

Your caller can''t be Neil Armstrong.  Neil Armstrong is an astronaut who died in 2012!

Someone by the name of officer Neil called and left a message on my home telephone. He said that I must return his call as there is a lawsuit against me and it can cause serious problem. He gave his full name as Neil Armstrong and said that our converasation is being recorded. When I refused to work with him he threatened me by saying that a police will come to my house within an hour to arrest me.
