Scam
7/10/14
Hey guys, I'm a represented actor and I have actually auditioned and callbacks for real Walmart commercials in the past before this.
I had a similar experience. Craigslist ad for WALMART commercial. Text asked to join conference call with "boss" yadda yadda yadda, email the next day with confirmation of date window and rate. Google doesn't know the casting director and the number they gave just came up with other post like this when I put it in a reverse google search. Glad the internet can help us work together to stop people from taking advantage of us. Best of luck guys, see you on set!

Hi to all actors out there,

This just happened to me and it's a scam that's pretty elaborate. Thank god I didn't proceed and used my instinct to decipher between what's too good to be true and legit. A guy called Jason Connelly emailed me for a new casting regarding Devious Maids. They sent an email saying 'Congratulations' with no specific information to what production company they're from, what casting agency they're from and no specific dates of shoot or casting - Union Wavier

I've had a similar experience as the rest of you.  A few days ago, I submitted my name to an ad for Jurassic World.  Oddly, I was text last night by Larry Dixon (818) 465-8612 saying that his boss would like to talk to me regarding a few small speaking parts.  I logged into the conference call at (712) 432-1212 and talked with Kevin Wright.  We seemed to get along and he liked what I had to say so he said they'd be in touch within 48 hours.  Now today, I received an email saying "YOU GOT THE PART" with filming dates, rate of pay, location, etc.  So I reached back out to Kevin (as it said to do on the bottom of the email for questions) and he said I'd have to go to the casting website and pay $99.95 to get registered in their system as well as the SAG.  I talked with film friends who said this seems to easy so I did some research and here I am.  When you call Larry, it's a Google Voice number that no one picks up but at least when you try Kevin, it rings and he usually picks up.  You all experienced the same thing as me yet for other brands so upon reading, I'm definitely ignoring any calls or attempts at contact.

So, As before I responded to a craigslist add, then received an email from jamesnelson1951@gmail.com confirming my phone number. Then was txt a message from 917-275-7229 for a phone call interview/conference call. I did the call, seemed legit when they asked for my agents information. I gave it to them and waited for a response on the next cut. The next day I got an email from Talent Management and Casting Source claiming I had gotten the non speaking part and that a contract would be sent to my agency. But thats it... they never asked for my personal info, didnt' ask for money, it just stopped. And my agent never received the contract.... hmmmm.

I submitted my pictures to be featured in a Beats by Dre Tv Commercial all expense paid trip to new york. $1950 pay. i called in to the conference call.(513) 386-0000  Told them i had no previous experience and then was texted and emailed saying that i had to register with http://castingsource.info/  and when i tried i only created a username-- i basically created an acct without registering. So then i get a text from (917) 275-7229 saying you got picked for the assignment. And if you 'got' questions--that's what alarmed me--you can follow up with ryan (810) 447-0690  I called and he said no you have to register first and you're one of the one's that they are really thinking about choosing for a National Ad and if you play your cards right at this shoot 2014 could wind up being a very good year for you! (sketch)  I went to register online and it brought me to the page where i submit my credit card info to make my payment of $99.95 for 30 days then $23.95 recurring every 30 days.... HA! i started googling and the rest is history...be warned. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I looked up their 'mailing address' and surprise surprise.. it doesnt exist.

I figured something was strang about this. I did a conference call with Kevin 2 days ago with about 4 other ppl. Today I woke up with a text saying I had been selected to fly to New York with all expenses paid for a Sprint spokes modeling position.  I was excited until he told me I had to pay $100 to "casting source" to be put in the database.  This is awful but thank God I decided to do some research before sending any money.  I've scammed before so I know how it feels to loose your hard earned money

Wow my blood is boiling!! I expereienced the same thing. I got a text to go on a conference call. THEY ARE VERY SMART AND SNEAKY THE WAY THEY APPROACH THINGS!! Since I did not have an agent they chose me obviously along with others who didnt im sure. I got a text the next morning saying they would like to book me for the sprint commercial. (IDK why it didnt seem odd to me that they did not want to meet me in person to audition) and gave me a number to call which was PATRICK. He made me sign up for castingusa and told me to contact laura stevens. SHE KEPT ME WAITING TWO MONTHS and kept delaying things.. SHE TRIED STALLING BUT I HAD CANCELED MY SUBSCRIPTION and thats when she stopped responding to me..
This is really unacceptable total scammers please do not fall for this!

Ugh, I am so mad right now... I could hardly believe that Nike would be searching for models on craigslist but then after talking to them they seemed pretty professional and full of themselves (like most industry people)... but after getting the runaround and them changing the shoot dates ten times, I kept asking "where is the paperwork?" Apparently they submitted my SAG paperwork without even seeing me in person, I don't even think they have my age. I now can't log into their bogus site www.inceptionbegins.com to see if they still have my credit card info.

NOT TO MENTION THIS:
I am now being asked by Kimberly Hudson if I have a PASSPORT? Wow how sketchy is that? What are they doing with the people who go through with this? It's one thing for them to scam me its another to try and ship me oveseas.

Wow, this is happening to me currently!
Have not talked with Laura yet, to get to the point of paying a fee.
Although, I know in this business if they ever ask you to pay for a job you should know it is not legit.

As soon as she gets in contact with me about this I am going to have my lawyer and best friend, who specializes in entertainment law to reply for me. Who is looking over my shoulder right now reading all of this. :)

This is not ok. What goes around comes around and I will make this viral.

Please let me know if I may help any of you with legal advice in the future through my friend who has been in this business for 20+ years.

Keep pursuing your work, never pay for a job. Go straight to Screen Actors Guild.

Best Wishes to you all.

So I went through the whole process with Candace and Patrick and I think its just sad.  After being sent to the website to pay $60, I remembered that I actually am with an agency and I sent an email to LauraStevens779@yahoo.com, stating that I have an agent.  I asked could we send all the paperwork through them so I wouldn't have to pay the fee.  Well I guess you know that I have not heard a response.

On Jan 30th a Lady Named Candice Texted me from this Number 1(707) 408-1127

First He asked if we all had Agents. We all Said No which then Patrick Said
was Okay if we did not at the time.

Everyone then explained what they did in Acting/ Modeling

I'm extremly upset. I got a text from a number I couldn't call back and then got put on his conference call for an upcoming Nike shoot. Turned out to be a scam after I payed and I'm upset because that inceptionbegins site requires you to put in delicate information like your address, date of birth, and credit card info to pay them! First its a guy named kevin then its james. I want them stopped can anyone help!

these are the numbers and emails they gave me
323-977-8567 James
818-473-9353 James
917-719-1833 Keri Richardson
castingusa.info where they told to register after I confronted them with the problem
laurastevens779@yahoo.com

these are the people (obviously fake names) who are in on this huge modeling scam.

Yes me too and I actually live in Miami. I was so excited I tried to contact Keri but its a Google subscription number, which is probably from a computer. When she text me she told me to contact her manager. It seemed weird that she would not give me his number or when the shoot was going to start. I'm so disappointed I thought this would be a great way to start my acting career.
