I got a phone call from "officer" Denny Williams, number 202-506-9033. He knows my name, my wife's name and my address. He was saying that they are investigating a crime that I perpetuated. After the second call, I told him "go f*ck yourself" and he dropped the call.

Same call received this morning at 7am. Officer Brian Daniels, calling on behalf of the IRS from the tax crime unit with a warrant being issued for my arrest. Every time I asked what government agency he was calling from and if I could have that number, he told me IRS and gave me the same 202-506-9033 number that showed on my caller ID. I asked for his government badge number and he said 35048. He had a heavy accent and I could hear multiple calls and voices in the background. When I told him i would call the IRS with his badge number and his "case number" about my warrant, he tried to insist I deal with him directly. I repeated I would call the IRS directly and he hung up on me.

My husband and I have both received separate calls, telling us that we owe money and that the local police will be called.  My phone message said that legal action would take place, while my husband's message said that something (the call broke up, so he couldn't hear all of the message) would happen in the next 45 minutes.  My husband actually called back and the man began reading his script. When my husband asked what would happen in the next 45 minutes, the man disconnected.

I got a message to call Officer Denny Williams of the Internal Revenue Stated he had a suite filed on me for try to Freud the IRS & That I owed $2,000 but was willing to make a payment Plan for me. I called the IRS & They told me I had no such action against me & that wasn't the way they go about this. so I called back 3 times sounding concern & 3 times this officer Williams gave me a different Badge # now he wont answer...lol BEWARE & PLEASE REPORT I WANT THIS GUY PUT AWAY!!! P.S. He speaks with a very heavy east Indian accent.

I also got the call today from 202-506-9033. The caller was having south Indian (Bangalore) accent with the call center noise in the background. I purposely did not pick up the phone and let it be recorded. Once you pick up such call, they will call you again. We all know that IRS sends notice only by mail and not by phone. Even the above number may be virtual phone # so that authorities cannot trace it. The caller said that he tried to call us several times about our tax problem, but we did not returned the call (he never called us before) and that he will be forced to take legal action against us. Best strategy is to ignore such phone calls. Since the call probably originated outside USA, our govt. can do very little.

Sounds like a typical scare-type call designed to elicit panic in the subject so that the scammer obtains financial information in order to drain the accounts.  DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!

Man with a *heavy* Indian accent called from this number and left a voicemail message.  Lots of call center-like background noise with a long pause before he mumbled the name of who he was calling (not even close to my name) and then identified himself as "officer Mike Stevenson" from the "tax crime investigation unit".  Asked for the subject to call back as soon as possible as previous calls had been ignored (first time I actually received this number)...

BEWARE - Smells like a scam.  Call the official IRS number if you have any questions.

Absolutely a Fraud. Do not provide any info. You can file a complaint with FBI at  www.ic3.gov and on IRS site www.irs.gov fill out form 3949-A. Choose Other in Section B and then describe the phone call under comments.

These people called us 3 times since yesterday and did not leave a message. We are in no call registry both national and state. Last time when I answered after one ring, they already hanged up. The caller id shows "Out of area" and their telephone number.. . .

Fraud. Continued calling for last two days with different numbers too ... they are looking for a "victim" who will think they are really IRS agents.

The caller is a fraud. Most likely an Indian fraud. They've been at this scam for several months now. Ignore the call or block the number. This scam is a very poor one. Americans know the IRS does NOT make phone calls. They use the USPS. We also know the IRS does NOT involve local law enforcement. EVER!
