Thanks Kelli!

I have that same description of 4.0 Refunds, Cancellation and Money-Back Guarantees in the document she attached to me via email.  However, there's no guarantee in this anymore, since it is a scam and he is no longer traced because all the numbers are disconnected, right?! Besides, I haven't read about this in the other posts, but I left out this small detail in my story before!!  He specifically asked me to delete his number and any other numbers that I had gotten from Kim before, after I send the check because it is of 'no use to me from that point on!   He said that the new agent (other department), will pick up in a few weeks to complete details for the 9page proposal draft!!  This should have been the red flag, but I was in denial...or plain ignorant?!! I was so annoyed when I deleted the numbers...these con artists are so persuasive and influencial!!!!

I want to help put a STOP to this mess...please let me know where to put up my complaints!!
Thanks again:))

Hey, Florida State Financial Planners is not accredited by the better business bureau but they do receive an A+ rating on the website saying the company has been in business since 1987 and been on file with the BBB since 1999 with no complaints.  If you have been scammed please post a complaint.  The lady I talked to at the BBB said that she has to side with the company for now and cannot alert consumers until my complaint has processed (30 days) because there are no other complaints online.  Please file a complaint online and help protect other people

I have lodge complaints with the Better Business Bureau online to see if we can get the Florida financial planners A+ rating removed.  It would really help if anyone who has been scammed can file a complaint so that this doesn't happen to other people.  Also, the attorney general in southeast Florida can be reached at 561-842-1918, and the division of consumer services at 800-435-7352.  While we may not get our money back, it will sure go a long way to preventing other people from having the same experience.

This is a scam that I am working on with all the same names Stephen Daniels, Rachel Frances, and Kim Brown. The number used is 954-678-0687. They seem to be asking for $480 from everyone they contact. The address that they want the money sent is to a storage unit in Sweetwater Florida. There is a real Florida State Financial Planners INC. that is on the up and up. Please pass this on to everyone you know.

Hi Kelli!
I've checked on BBB for Florida State Financial Planners and there was no listing by this company name.  So I checked on google and if you scroll down there's a link of Florida State Financial Planners Business Review being on a BBB page, but if you go directly in to the BBB Website and search the company it will not show up!!  Where are you getting this guarantee?  The only time I recall hearing of a refund is from Steven McDaniels, saying that if all else does not go through with the proposal then we'll get our refund back!! So I'm curious about your findings.

Thank you.

Hi Justin Smithgall, were you called by a government grant lady who transferred you to this Steven McDaniels?  This sounds very familiar!!!! The initial 'grant writters fee - was the $480, in which he said that I could pay $320 now and $160 later, because I was on a trip and would have to check back with him and the company to give my $480.  He asked about my business line up and I was skeptical at first, but it sounded legit considering that he insisted on me checking with BBB (Better Business Bureau), for FLORIDA STATE FINANCIAL PLANNING's credibility.

I bought in to his efforts and did not have a chance to look it up because I did not have Internet access, but went ahead and followed his instructions on sending via certified mail to a Rachell Francis!! It wasn't til this Monday (11/14/11), I realized that he was supposed to call me back (11/11 - 11/14), to go over the details of the proposal draft to send out before the deadline first week of December to receive my small business grant in February for $50,000.  I'm so annoyed that I did not follow up and do my homework before sending my $320!!!!! Now, I'm searching on the Internet for any signs of scam regarding this matter!!!!! This is the closest I've come across something and the number I had was 1-954-678-0687.  I read your comment and I realized that yes, it could have been worse!!!! UGGhh!!

I was also called by a Kim Brown and given the same bull about getting a grant from the government.  Needless to say that I felt this may be a scam so I decided to Google Florida State Financial Planners and their representative Steven McDaniels. I stumbled across numerous websites and found that Mr McDaniels is a fraud. Thankfully I had not went through with sending the $480.

Wow, you mean you were looking for SOMETHING FOR NOTHING (you know, somebody to just "grant" you some money) and you got taken?

Scammers get down on their hand and knees and thank the lord every time they find somebody like you. What kind of a business were you going to start, anyway, FRAUD PROTECTION? LOL!

Same exact thing happended to me!! same Kim Brown same submittal of 9 page proposal by X date. Seemed bogus and she was completely reading from a script. So I did the reverse look up the number and found nothing. Called the Governent Grant office that Charles recommended here as well. the woman there told me it was bogus as well and to report her to http://consumeraction.gov/state.shtml
I think everyone should file a complaint as well.
she also let me know that the government does give grants to small businesses if you are eligible. so check out www.grants.gov and click on the left side menu (red) button title "find grant opporunities" and go from there. Good luck everyone and just remember Karma, what comes around....

After a little more digging I've discovered 202-570-7276 is a cell phone number. Last I checked, govt offices don't conduct business primarily by cell phone. If this isn't fake than I don't know what is

I had the same experience as Brenda. The person I spoke to was also Kim Brown and the time frame for submission  was very similar. She told me I would need a 9 page grant proposal written by a certified grant proposal writer and gave me the number to a place called Florida State Financial Planners. The person I talked to there said his name was Steven McDaniels and that it would cost $480 for them to pay the grant writer and cover their fees and expenses.I was also given a case number. I called the Government Grant Office (800-518-4726) and told them what happened. The gentleman I spoke to said the govt doesn't give grants to small business start ups only loans. He also said the case # was completely bogus. I'm reporting this as fraud to my state's attorney generals office and suggest anyone else do the same. At first I was really down on the fact my plans have to be put on hold again. Now I'm mad because they almost managed to use my excitement against me. I would hate to see anyone get screwed over by these vultures.

I got a call from this number, saying they were from the Government Grants Office.  Saying they had approved our request for a government money based off an inquiry I made on-line, in the amount of $100,000 dollars in grant money.

The gal's name who called me is Kim Brown.  She gave me a "case number C142309". She said that I would need to complete an application from a certified grant writer, and also include a Business Proposal, and other documents - that the grant writer would provide.  What seemed suspisious was that she gave me a very tight time line to submit our application of Nov. 7th to Nov. 11th (Today is Sept. 27th) to turn in all our business info.  and that the grant money would not be available until sometime in January.  She sounded sort of legitimate in some areas of conversation.  But who is to say after this gal is just a con artist and get all of our personal information, our identity is stolen.
