Got a call just now 10:30am PST ( June 7th)  from 202-580-8348. Same story. Told me that I have been selected for a grant of $7000 etc. Googled after the call and saw this thread. Wants me to go to a drug store and call them back. I simply wanted to continue the conversation and get more info from these folks so I can report to police.  The caller said his name is David, which obviously sounded unreal.  I am from India and the accent sounded very much Indian :) . Learnt further that a number of my friends in San Ramon california also received similar calls including fake IRS calls. When reported to the local police they say the call is from outside the country and they can't do anything about it..

These people won't stop, they keep calling and calling and when you tell them to not call no more they are threatening to kill me????!!!'

Received a call from 202-580-8348 and caller stated he was calling from the U.S Government Grant Dept. and I was selected to receive a grant worth $10,000.  Told him I wasn't interested and if I decide I want a grant I would apply online to the REAL U.S GOVERNMENT.  Caller didn't take that comment very well.  He spoke with a very thick foreign accent (sounded like he was from India).  Told him to remove my number from theirist and if they called again I was calling the FBI and CIA. Caller abruptly disconnected.      Tired of these scumbags calling.

I have the best solution. Try purchasing a CPR CallBlocker device (all-in-one cal blocker) and connect it to your landline. When this number or any other unwanted number calls you again, just hit the red (block now) button. That's it! I love this device. You can find this item and similar items on amazon.com. I recieved several calls from this number so one day i decided to call them back a woman with a thick phillipino accent answered and said she was with the us goverment ..i said ya right tell me who you really are or i will turn you into homeland security ,, she then hung up me,, i turned around and called them back and.they never answered back,.they are using voice over ip addresses so good luck trying to track them down,,.you can thank skype for that one,,

It is a SCAM, a BIG ONE. They have swindled multiple folks out of money.
I told them to send me a US Treasury check, it didnt go far.
The guy that called me barely spoke English, I hear it is out of the Philippines.

I received the same message. I told them that I did not know that the government was giving out free money.

I just got a call from this number and this is like the 7th time they keep calling my number. The first time i answered therir call they said I won a grand of 7.K and then I said how? They told me I got selected from social security and I asked them what was my name and they hung up. The second time I answer the phone they answer and told me that I was selected for a government refund of 8.K and I'm like how's that possible I'm 15 I don't do my taxes yet and then I asked if they knew what my name was again and try hung up. (note: I didn't say my name when I answered so they didn't know what to say) So odds are this is a scam and it's so stupid you could so tell these people are Arabian there accents are so noticeable. Plus I doubt Arabs are working in the government with all this terrorism going around

The guy couldn't even speak well, told me wanted to transfer 7000 dollars for a grant i didn't apply to because i filed my taxes, which is impossible because i am a minor/

I had got a phone call April 28 from a man name Michel told me I would be get 7,000 dollar and I had to go get a green dot money Pak had to put 199 to get started and when they told me I was approved they told me my credit was to low so I had to but 490dollors just so I can get my money so I keep calling and calling a man wanna to act like he was Liza and keep hanging up so guys its a scam there taking ppl money

Sooner or later the odds are they will anyway. They use dialers and computers to call people up with. So don't be surprised, these scammers don't obey laws anyway. Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

Received a call from above number, this A.M.  Since I am on the DO NOT CALL list, I was surprised to get a call like this.  I did not answer it as I do not pick up calls from numbers I am not familiar with. No message was left.  I would like these calls to stop as this is the 3rd one in as many days, from scam people.!!!!

Gave them a call and they said that they must have called about my 7K. I asked to talk with supervisor, he said yes and hung up

It is a scam.  End of story.  They will want you to pay upfront for the grant that does not exist.

called shows its coming from Washington d.c. and they are the federal government and to call them back regarding  a refund we are due from the government.  They then tell you we are owed eight thousand dollars and to go to any drugtore walgreens cvs. and pick up this card with a number on it and call them at the store so they can put the credit on this card.  So I call them with the card they tell me to get.  They answer the phone and tell me to hold on which was about 80 seconds and a lady comes on and I tell her I have the card and she tells me that I am not Ann Griffin and hangs up.  I was told from someone in the drugstore that the 800 number I was calling was a scam and like calling a sex talk number the charges from the two calls I made were going to be aq fortune.
