Not sure who this is but they keep calling and don't leave a message. I'm guessing it's a scam. I don't answer phone numbers I don't know so not sure exactly who this is.

This is a scam from a "Career Builder" company that tries to sell courses. I was linked to them after applying for a "job" on Craig's List which probably doesn't exist. I have received emails and calls from several numbers trying to sell me stuff. This group has been sued in other states.

I too received the call.  Jessica did not address me by name ( first clue to a scam ).  You can tell it's a well rehearsed speech.  Has anyone talked to Jessica live when she's called or is it always a voicemail?  This might be a second clue.
I understand nondisclosure from SOME companies or agencies.
Resume professionals tell you to be sure to put your cell or home phone number on you resume, but I down know.  It is totally unconscionable for individuals or organizations to prey on the unemployed for their nefarious acts!!!  Shame on you, you villainous bastards. ( Sorry for the foul language. )

I'll not return the call.

Someone should hunt these people down and put them in jail for a LONG, LONG time.

I recieve a call from this number this morning.  Althought I have been applying for jobs I respond the questions they asked, email contact, phone number and address at the beginning I feel it was job related since I only gives my celular phone to the jobs I applied but reading these comments I certainly believe they have other porpuses since they do ask me about my background education.

Apparently they want you to sell trainning or college education.   I do not know but I block my cell for recieving call from this number and area code.

Received a call from this number.  Let the call go to voicemail, since I screen for numbers I don't recognize.  A message was left.  It was a pre-recorded message that started after 2 seconds of silence, with a female voice requesting verification for an application I had filled out.  I've applied online and sent my resume to various job banks, but any legitimate job offer would be from the company itself!  I was also getting calls from an online University of Maryland college for a while.  People above said that this number may just be a recruiter for an online school.  Perhaps these are related, since this is a D.C. based number.

I got a call from Jessica 8/14/09 @ 10:44am which is suppose to be for a position i applied for with one of Career Networks' clients. Being that I've applied for several online jobs with this company in the past it seemed strange that she did not mention which was the lucky position I'd received, though she did however provide a cb# and informed me that information may be provided for the "client."  SCAM 101: don't mess with them a'tall.

I received a call from this number, I called back because I'm looking for a job, they wanted to verify the application info, asked me if I had a degree which I do and if I was currently enrolled in college which I am, that was pretty much it. I think they are is a recruiting company for online colleges, if you tell them you are currently in college that's pretty much the end of the conversation.

If you tell them you are not in college but are interested in furthering your education then the call will last longer.

The CN (Career Network) has been calling, and I checked on them. I found complaints, but that is not a big factor. People complain. I called the Career Network.
After the "verification specialist" told me my address and telephone number there was a 5-minute chat about going back to college, and could CN hook me up with the Education Connection(?).
The "prescreening" is to screen for financial ability to pay for educational programs, or to sign up for educational aid. It is NOT about screening for a job--nor did CN ever say, "This is to screen you for that job, for that company." Their telephone message (which I've gotten from two of their calls to me) says A: I applied for a job, and B: the CN is going to prescreen me. My assumption that A and B are linked is my error. CN prescreens people for enrollment with the Education Connection.
After I zeroed the possibility of enrollment--guess what?
CN told me that the only people who would contact me about the job, after this prescreening, would be the hiring authorities at the employer where I applied for the job.
She repeated that assurance. (Apparently the need to repeat the warning is on her cue card.)
It took me a while for me to realize what she said/meant. Only the employer's authorized personnel would contact me ABOUT THE JOB...which says nothing about whom might contact me about anything other than the job.
Stay on your toes, people.

Hmm, well, I got a message on my phone yesterday from Jessica at Career Network; phone number 202 591-2218. The content went along with all of the other things I've seen here. Before responding, I did some research and found these comments. I have not even applied for any job over the last two weeks, although I have been doing a lot of applying on-line. I do not think that I will call 'Jessica' back. Thanks for all of the comments here.

Received a call. It said we recently applied for a job with there company. The phone came up as private for the name on my caller ID but showed the phone #. I checked online and it says it is an anti abortion group. What the hell is that about. Now we are getting spam phone calls too. I thought telemarketers were bad.

I just got a call from them.  I returned the call and they claim to be a company that works as a verifying agency if you applied for a job at one of their companies.  After giving my number, they did pull up my application so I know it was correct, however they then said it would take 5-45 minutes to verify and asked if i had the time to do that.  i told them no and to just lose my application then.  that just sounds so sketchy to me.  why would your company verify personal info about my application? what about it did you not get? i won't say anything more than what i already put and i sure am not going to give you information about me to someone who doesn't even give me the company's name.  (blind employer).  that's what an interview is for.  how lazy are these companies?  you have to hire other companies to call me to verify my info before calling me yourself? either this is a scam or this is the weirdest company ever.  I have never had to verify personal info to a person on the phone, neither of who's company name i know.  no thank you.  hang up.

Yeah, it sounds scammish. Just called me too. I noticed the guy above just got a all 6 minutes ago also. WTF? If this is a way of marketing the people that are stuck looking for a job right now, I hope this company goes down in flames. If your company is so interested in hiring me, then have a representative from your company call me. I filled out so many aplications and posted my resume so many places online, that I wouldnt doubt my information was sold to a 3rd party somewhere.

This economy blows and the job market is a whole new ball game.

I received a call from this same number, yesterday although my phone system boots call automatically to voice mail if any part of the number or calling id is blocked, they said that I applied for a job about a week to a week and a half ago and that they have been trying to reach me. I also practive the policy no message no call back and then i block your number. Anyway, they asked me in the voice message to call them back at the number so that I can speak to a verification specialist. I filled out alot of job apps, so I really was wondering which app were they talking about, but they also stated that the offer was from a "blind company". So I'm talking the advice for others here and doing the same, which is staying away. I can't beleive it has gotten this bad that companies actually do this. Also just wanted to say thanks to the others for posting a response it really helps to avoid the job scams out there. Thanks Guys!

Received a call on 1 August 2009 at 1301 from "Jessica" at Career Network asking me to call back at (202) 591-2218 to verify the information I supposedly submitted on a job application within the last seven days.  Sounds fishy to me.

First of all, how would Jessica, or one of her cronies, actually know it was me on the line?  The only way to do this would be to ask for sensitive, personal data like an SSN or some other data only I would know.  I definitely will not supply any of this info on the phone to an anonymous individual, so I fail to see how any of my data could be truly verified.

Jessica also stated that the employer would remain confidential.  Why?  What's the big secret?  Every reputable employer, or potential employer, who has ever wanted to investigate me has always asked for my written permission beforehand and had me complete a form where I supplied the required data for the investigation.  No secrecy, no cloak and dagger.

Finally, Jessica identified her company as "Career Network", but the caller ID indicated "Private Name".  If Career Network is a legitimate enterprise, why is the caller ID different from the supposed company name?

There are too many logical inconsistencies for this call from "Career Network" to be about its stated purpose of "verifying my information on a job application".  I urge everyone to ignore calls from Jessica at Career Network and promptly report them.

The only logical reason I can deduce for Career Network to be legitimate is that potential employers want to see if any candidates are stupid enough to call this company in order to eliminate them from consideration.

I got a call from them, but 2219 number, also right after this call I got the same exact message from a 678 791 4200 number. I think they are trying to sell educational materials or sell something. I don't think there is even a job, if there is it's not a very good one. Probably doing what the caller that called me is doing. Scumbags.

I have now recieved two call from the "Career Network" at 202-591-2218 and I must say that I have placed my resume on many sites and cannot say for certain which one this has come from. I refuse to give any of my information over the phone to supposedly "verify" my information. As another stated, this is what an interview is for. Please be careful out there about this one. I have not followed through with the process of speaking to someone because I just don't trust it.

I just got a call from Ashley with Career Network at 202-591-2218.  There is something not right here because she told me she was calling to verify my info because I applied for a data entry position yet she could not tell me anything about the company that posted the position.  Any legitimate company who has legitimate positions available would contact you themselves unless they are with a staffing agency in your area that you are familiar with.  I told her to remove my application and cease contacting me any further.  She confirmed my application has been removed.  Now that people are frantically looking for jobs this will be the new way scammers will get your information and before you know it you are a victim of identity theft.  That is my greatest fear.  It used to be you drove to a company and applied, now everything is done online which leaves you open to scams and theft.

I got a call from (202)591-2218, but they didn't leave a message or I would have picked up. I did apply for jobs online, but the caller ID name "Voxbone SA" threw me off and made me think it was someone from South America. The fact that they don't leave a message is weird, especially if they are a legitimate business and are responding to my online resume. Kris: thanks for doing the leg work for us!

OK, I get email from "Career Solution Map <careers@careersolutionmap.com"

There is a "I-wish_to be taken_off your_mailing list." option.  I clicked on it, we'll see what happens.

Here's some data from the email:
career-solution-map.com
Career Network, Inc., P.O. Box 618305, Orlando, FL 32861-8305

A quick search on http://whois.domaintools.com/career-solution-map.com will show lots of data.  You'll find that Destiny Careers owns 1600+ web sites, some may even be legit.
