Me: "It would be unwise for me to name my bottom dollar. I am flexible, especially if its a Mazda enthusiast. Make an offer?"
Scammer: "(1/3)won't be able to come and inspect it cos of the nature of my job, i am a chef,am at the sea,i am buying this for for my sister, i am at sea right now but i (2/3)wouldn't mind seeing a few more pictures of it, and I am okay with your price.Right now the only way i can make the payment is via paypal as i don't have (3/3)access to my bank account online and theres no way i can issue out a check or something here, but i have my bank account attached to my paypal account,and ."
Me: "Ok. To be honest that Sounds quite sketchy. I would want your sister to come see it first."
Me: "My brother is in the navy, I can understand the difficulties of making payments from there. Where does your sister live?"
Scammer: "She lives in Monroe, WA but of town for a surgery.Please be considerate.."
Me: "She would need to come see it first. Your number is listed as a scammer on Craigslist and you've made this inquiry a number of times on different ads. I will consider accepting a PayPal payment if your sister or someone you trust comes to see the car and can show me photo ID."

They didn't reply again after this. What a tool.

Its also against the law to play I'm a officer..  File reports with the fbi, state attorney generals office..  These guys need caught!

Tried selling my race car on craigslist in Ny and this number txt me sayin does PayPal only ok cool then says I have to found $1000 to get my $12000? Then says Wal-Mart is the place I need to do it? Told him I deal with PayPal all the time and NEVER heard that. Then get a txt saying he has the FBI out for me? Lol what a joke this scam is

got a text from 202-642-2197 at 4:47 am est. asking about bottom price on truck. I read these other responses about the same number and then returned a text asking for a personal phone call to me to discuss details....never came. hmmm,   some people! -spend your time and effort making an honest living and you would be rich you scammer theif scumbag

Received a text about a car I am selling in Phx, AZ. I clearly posted local only no paypal, no internet payments - cash only. Still text me trying to get me to provide my info for a paypal payment. Clearly a craigslist scam. The number is 202-642-2197

I just got a message from 202-642-2197 saying he was a chef and wanted to purchase my car using paypal. Clearly a scam.

Same thing he told me. He said he was on a boat and needed to pay via PayPal. Scam!

Got a text from 202-642-2197 which is a phone number listed in the Washington DC area indicating an interest in a vehicle listed on Craigslist in Los Angeles wanting to know what my last price is even though the price is listed in the ad.  Suspect the individual using this phone number is a Craigslist Scammer.

Got a text from 1(202) 642-2197 a little while ago. He told me that he was a chef on a boat wanting buy my truck, listed in the Bellingham, skagit, seattle craigslist(all Washington state areas). Said he was a chef on a boat wanted to use a paypal account to buy it for his sister who was having surgery. When asked about why he was looking at cars in LA and in Bellingham, WA he told me that he was txting from a Seattle area code. Clearly a scammer who thought I would be an idiot and not know the area codes around me.

Rec'd a text message from 202-642-2197 (Washington, DC Phone Number) asking about a car for sale on Craigslist listed in the Los Angeles section.
