I got this same call saying that i qualified for 7000 grant that 17,000 people did i have a family of 6 . i knew when he said i had to send money to get money it was fake

seems they are making the rounds. Got the same call, makes you wonder why someone from India would be calling about free money, then again, Microsoft support sounds like they are all from a different country..... go figure that it is possible the US GOV would use them too.

I knew it was a scam when she said I was selected because I had no criminal record.

I copy the other comment because is exactly what happened to me .....  IS SCAM.....I DIDNT CALL THE 202 NUMBER BECAUSE I CHECK FIRST HERE ... THANKS FOR THAT.....they are a fraud i got the same call from someone souning like they were from india at first you eill get a call from an unknown number saing you have recived a government grant for $7,000 and they will spout off your mailing adress and give you another number to call with a verification number. when yo call this  202 number they will tell you that you need to go to western union and deposit $310 to recieve this $7000 grant i looked up this after calling my husband and its a huge scam i found stories exactly like mine DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!!!

I got the exact same call from an unknown # at first saying that I got selected for a grant of $7,000.00 for doing some democratic survey last December and when I said I wanted it in cash they told me to call their manager Max Williams to (202)657-6142 then he told me that I needed to send $310 through Western Union to verify that its me and it will be refunded but no thanks I won't be getting ripped off $310

Same call this 202 area code is used for several scams . one other scam is for a payday loan as well as the grant money. Always an Indian speaking person.

I just got that call about receiving the $7000 Grant from the Government, they claimed that the Government did a survey in Dec of last yr and 1700 ppl got chosen to receive this grant and I was one of them.  They went by the person paying there taxes ontime and having no criminal record.  So I played there little game and called the second number which is suppose to be the supervisor in DC.  So as I was listening thats when he told me about sending him the $310 by Western Union, so after he finish I told him that I did not have a Job to send him that and why could't they just take it out of the Grant.  So he said that was to verify who you are, so I said ok, well to verify where is the office located and I will come there, knowing the I live in MD/DC its a hop skip and jump.  He gave me the address to the Health and Human Service at 200 Independence Ave, so I told him that I would come to the office and claim my money.  He than told me to call when I got to the building so that we can tell me where to meet.  Come on man, I told my sister I would take pictures and send them to her just in case I come up missing......

Said thast I would receive $7000 in us goverment grant, I was sure that this was a scam so I looked up thenumber and there it was.

I just received the call from this # 202-657-6142 and they told to my that I approved something $7000 government benefits even I never apply for anything such. how can I find are they fraud ?
