Got called today. I'm on midnights and this has to stop.
How do we stop this from happening again?????????
Gwen 2011-08-05 02:26:45 Unknown
Hung up on me when I said that I don't even own a credit card.
Sherney 2011-08-04 20:09:05 Unknown
I've received several calls too. Nothing seems to deter these people.

Very interesting to say the least

I'm in Alberta. Same thing as above, multiple times a week. It's probably part of an auto-dialer network trolling for connected phone numbers, and there doesn't seem to be a manned switchboard to a identifiable company. The same abuser appears to be using numbers in Ontario, Michigan, among others, as identical messages (lowering or consolidating credit card debt) are used. Frankly, it's getting annoying. Yes, I'm also listed on the federal do-not-call list.

For anyone who keeps getting those annoying phone calls, my best advice is to do what I did; purchase a Panasonic KX-TG1061M telephone. You can enter as many of those unwanted numbers as you wish on your phone "blocked numbers list". This is a great feature and you can purchase the phone on sale for a very reasonable price. As of today, I have blocked 15 telemarketers? numbers and counting! No more unwanted calls!

I've had them call me several times over the span of the last few months, even though I've been on the do-not-call list for several years. I didn't record the number the last times, but recorded it as 204-353-2459 this time so I could file a report.
They try to get you to consolidate credit card balances. When you press a key to talk to a live representative, there is a message about how the reps cannot remove names/numbers from their call lists. "To be removed, press 2", which immediately hangs up if you press it. And yet they keep calling me.

So tired of these calls - so much for the "no call" list - how can we stop this?

Robot call. Claims to be "Card Member Services" and to have sent letters to my home (nyet). This was the "final review" before "closing the file". Credit card interest rate lowering. I needed a card several $1,000's in arrears and another "in good standing". Press '1' to speak to a representative (pressed). Robot said representative could not remove me from their calling list. Press '2' to be removed from the calling list (pressed).
This is the first time this number has called me. Let's hope '2' works.
Call Display showed name "Manitoba" so it could have been any business in Manitoba - such are the limits of Call Display (number transmitted only - local tel-co does the name look-up). I deal with a Credit Union in Manitoba. Their number also shows up as "Manitoba" and there's nothing they can about it.

Live in Ontario. Picked it up on the 4th ring. It was blank. No-one there - no dial tone - nothing.
(Time of call was 2 p.m. July 25)

Just tried calling this number back and it says the number you have reached is not in service! Idiots -- whoever these people are they are scammers and if they phone you again don't pick up - they are definitely trying to reach you because they want to SCAM YOU! Wish I had the power to strip them apart!

Get this caller all the time 204-353-2459. Says something about Credit card review. Does not ask a for anyone by name or what Credit Card company is caling. I don't think it's a legitimate call. Probably bogus. Wish they would stop like they say... "this is your last call." several times.......
hdgkdkdhjf 2011-07-21 18:35:43 Unknown
When you call that number back, it says the number you have reached is not in service.

Just got annoying call from 204-353-2459. A recorded message, saying something about "this is your final and last call", and a credit card review. No mention of an credit card company, no mention of my name. Bogus. Looked it up, and some sites say it originates from Manitoba. I do not live in that province. No credit card company would call without identifying both themselves and addressing the person they're calling my name.
Just reported it to info@antifraudcentre.ca
