what do we have to do to stop these calls? anybody have an idea? they call while at work and at night, really annoying

Just got a call from 204-480-9390. It was a woman - couldn't place her accent, but she knew my last name.  She hung up as soon as I asked her why she was calling on a Sunday night.  Like everyone else, when I called the number back, it said the number was out of service.

"Hello Miss Jenny. Your friend Shannon Verona from the Philippines? We have a package here from Puerto Vallarta for you. Your friend Shannon has already received the same package....." Seems this scam goes on and on.
Told her that I googled the number and knew it was a scam and hung up. She immediately called back from an "unavailable" number. I didn't even give her a chance to talk, said I would place harassment charges if I received another call.
There is so much background noise from this number, I'm sure it's because there must be 50 of them sitting in the same room trying to pull the same scam.

Got a call from the number, asked for Mr J, told them he's not in, then they hung up.  I googled the number, led me to this site, I called back the number and asked them if they can help me with viruses on T9B6my computer.  They hung up on me again.

This guy spoke Polish and try convince polish people his is a relative and need money for something. Please be careful this is a big ugly scam.

They keep calling and when I say hello they just hang up on me...so I know that this is a scam call.  I know not to give then no information at all...just wish they would talk and boy will I let them have it.  When the call comes  in and on the phone it says "ceylon'. plus the number.

I am receiving the same message from a east indian person right now ...he says he is calling about your computer...he wants remote assistance to get into your computer then they can steal your info about yourself..they are very persistant they have called me 3 times and i keep haning up on them..do not do as they tell you...

Got a call from this number saying he was from VISA/ Mastercard head office. Named both card companies in one sentence! Quoted my home address and said I had a card with them. But I have no credit card! Specifically said BMO which isn't even the financial institution I use! Had a previous call from him (heavy eastern accent) regarding him needing access to my computer to remotely fix the problem. Even tried to get my fiance to!

Had this number call my cel this morning. And a 416 area code. I did answer and it turns out both calls were from my boyfriend, who is out of province atm. Surprised to hear his voice on the line. When I called those #s back it was not in service! Makes no sense!

It seems like it's the same guy calling from this number. Heavy accent and down right rude. We hang up on him, called back and started swearing at us. Using all the profanity one can think of!! He called back 11x!!! I'm wondering if we can file charges against these people? Help!

Called around 7:00 p.m. and said he was from Telus.  He had a good deal he wanted me to hear.  I told him I was not interested and he kept insisting.  told him to take me off call list and he ignored my request.  Was a gentleman who said his name was Richard - had heavy eastern accent.  He would not listen - hung up on him.

Tried to call this number back and it said out of service.

Received a call from this number today.  Does it belong to someone name Rolando??

Male voice- said he was calling from Kijiji and wanted to set up and appointment with our marketing specialist regarding us paying them for free advertising. We have received phone calls from this number in the past couple of weeks- all claiming to be a different company offering advertising services. Each time it has been a male voice- with an accent who speaks extremly fast and becomes flustered when you inquire as to the exact name and loaction of the company he is calling from.

just recd call. had them calling before, now tracking. I did not answer. they terminated before answering machine kicked in.

I just received a call from 204-480-9390. I have received MANY calls about an apparent virus on my computer, which I know is a scam. But today from this number, I received a call from someone with a thick accent saying they are calling from the credit card verification department. I asked him to repeat himself and he said that he was calling to verify my "mastercard" to which I replied I didn't have one and he said thanks and hung up. Beware everyone out there...it's definitely a scam. Even though it looks like it is from a Manitoba number and it shows up, which might make you think it's legitimate, it's NOT!!! They even knew my last name, just not how to pronounce it. And surprise surprise...I called the number back and it's not in service.

I just a call from them asking me to log on my computer because my computer was infected with a virus. I asked them how they knew and they said that they worked for Microsoft. I entertained them for a little bit and stayed on the line then in the end I told them that I don't have internet :D

I received a call from this number today.  
Caller with East Indian accent says: "Yes Ma'am.  I am calling about your computer.  We see you are receiving error messages and I need to get on your computer to get rid of the error message."

I've heard of this scam, the caller is trying to convince you to give them remote access to your computer.  They are simply trying to steal information from you, perhaps your computer has your SIN number, or other personal information aiding them in potentially stealing your identy.  Some of the similar calls I've received the accent is asian, but most times East Indian.  The caller sounds like they are calling me from a busy street with much background noise and chatter with similar accents.  

Since I have received multiple calls over the last year from similar numbers with similar stories of issues with my PC, I kept the caller on the line by asking silly questions and basically just having some fun with them.  Maybe not the best idea, because you never know what another person can do if you make them mad enough.  That said, if you receive similar calls, the best thing is to simply hang up.  

Ps, when I called the number back it was not in service.

This is one of those "your computer has a virus" scams.
The guy said he was from Windows and said I had a virus and that he could clean it up from his end.
I then hung up on him :)

No answer I am getting sick of these calls

In-province number. Got a male with a heavy accent and lots of background noise saying my computer had a bad virus problem, and tried to lead me to My Computer as if I was computer-illiterate. They didn't ask who I was, they didn't have any information on my system, and on the slim likelihood that they did (which they probably didn't, as they had to ask whether I saw "Computer" or "My Computer" in the Start menu), they did they didn't share it with me to make sure I was at the right computer.

Have received calls from this number previously, the most recent being today.  Male with a very heavy accent stating he is working for Windows and my computer has several very serious viruses.  Wanted me to go online and he would talk me through removing the viruses.  Just hung up on him and he called back a couple of more times.

got a call that same day.  heavy accent saying they were from windows and wanted me to go on my computer so they could FIX it LOL.  the radio warned of this earlier in the day.

just got a call from 480-9390 and no answer when I picked up.

WTF? Call originated from a not in service line. Fricken figure that one out .

Also have had calls from this number but I was not home during attempted calls. Return call made and tape recorded message on the line states ' Number is not in service'. Hmmmmm. Not in service? How were they able to call me from the supposed 'not in service' line.

windows service provider wanting to get into my computer to clean up error messages.
