I missed a call on the cell phone and when i called it back it said it was disconnected, i called it about 3 mins after it called me. Makes no sense to me.

I got a call from this number, and also found it disconnected when I called back. I've actually rec'd several calls from this number, finally got a rep on the phone - it's called ultimate coverage warranty and when I googled it I found nothing butcomplaints about how they're scamming people.
I've registered several complaints with the national do not call registry complaint site, but don't know what else I can do.

Ijust posted about this number in another post just now. The call came in at 1:01 PM. Intersestingly enough, at 12:58 pm, 3 minutes earlier I have a missed call from 215-542-4930...Mark Winebrand. Google that number and you'll come up with warranty call and more. surely scammers.

Got a call from 205-556-6922. No one there. Caller ID was "Kristy Phillips". It is computer generated number. I just got new digital phone service from our local cable company. It's a brand new, never used before number. It's also unlisted in ANY directory!

These people called me to my cell phone!!! I didn't recognize the number, so I was waiting for them to leave a voice mail msg, but no msg was left. I also got a phone call from another scammer yesterday, but that was a minnesota number (763-537-7722) and now this call. WTF is this! It is bad enough that they call homes to scam people but now cell phones!
I have a rule, if I don't know who it is...they can leave me a voice msg and tell me what they want. If they don't they aren't worth looking into.

I got multiple calls from this number for the pass few months and I actually talked to one of the reps. I told him I don't own a car (seeing as how I'm not even old enough to own one!)and he said he'll take me off the list -__- damn was that a mistake?! does this mean I'll be getting more calls?! I just hang up when I hear that stupid recording now.

Got a call from that same number. I wonder if the national do not call list will work for that? It's strange cause you call it back and it's disconnected. It's not like you can hook up a number and disconnect it that fast. The phone company has to have set them up to be able to have a outgoing number and a block on the incoming. It's just wierd.

got a call from this number; reverse lookup said it is a home in AL. sounds like part of car warranty scam

This call came in today on my CELL which I had gotton a new # for it 2 months ago. I actually spoke to a woman and told her I had a new 2008 model and I have no need for a warranty and I do not know what these calls are for. She said "ok" then something about having to get her house phone???? So she was calling from her home??
She said it would take 24 hours to get my # out of their system. Whatever.
I get these calls on my unlisted/Do Not Call house phone saying this would be the last time they would call since my warranty has expired, but they keep calling.
I made the mistake of once pressing the 1 key when asked if I wanted to be taken off the list. I just validated that they had a working number to harass.

They forge the caller ID by making VoIP calls. They use innocent people's phone numbers. Those people then get swamped with angry calls and have to change their number. These criminals are auto warranty scams that operate almost entirely out of St. Louis, MO. The MO attorney general is working on it.

The story in http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/250013 probably gives the best clue to the "Warranty Expiration" scam phone calls. It's likely just a IDENTITY (i.e. CREDIT CARD) THEFT operation. If nothing else, you now know NOT to believe that CallerID necessarily means ANYTHING. CallerID is NOT repeat NOT at all secure. Don't believe this? See for yourself. Fool around with, say, Skype and you'll discover that you can make ANY number appear on the CallerID of the person you're calling.

Call on my cell and home phone from "Warranty Direct" notifying me of the warrarnty expiring on my vehicle, If some one is "posing" as the real "Warranty Direct" don't you think they could do something about it and maybe change their number or file complaints?? Can't they track their website?? Funny how they wont take your name or number off their call list even when you ask them! They must enjoy my husband's obsenity laced tyrades when he answers the phone.
last call july 31, 2008 at 1:31 pm

I would appreciate it if you would edit or delete your post as it is incorrect. One should be more careful before accusing a legitimate business of such a serious accusation.
Warranty Direct does not make unsolicited phone calls or use an automated dialing system. The only way we would contact you would be if you visited our web site (www.warrantydirect.com) and left your contact information. Were we to call you, our phone number (516-228-8600) would be displayed on your caller ID.
The company making these calls is using our company name and is in no way affiliated with Warranty Direct. Unfortunately, we have been unable to find out who this company is and have been unsuccessful in putting a stop to it.
Sadly, we receive several complaints of this nature each day. We are actively pursuing this issue and will continue trying to stop this company from tarnishing our company name.
This link is a good place to start looking of rthe company behind this.

Same recorded message received on land line and cell line, not on the same day.
Message is designed to illicit a response, by creating fear of an 'expired warranty' with no specific information to back up claim, or identify affected product.

I received a call from 205-556-6922 and was unable to answer at the time. When i returned the call i was greeted with a recording that stated the number had been disconnected. I would like to know two things, 1 - how to i stop this from happening, and 2 - how can someone place a call to another person from a phone that has been disconnected.
| Called 2008-07-31 03:33:07 Telemarketer |
I went to the effort of following up the recording, and it connected me to the business below (information from BBB site). When asked to remove my number off the list, the salesperson became very rude, which is why I am now tracking down more information about this business. ;)

Was just called by this number and when I returned the call the recording indicates disconnected. Definite scam/marketing call originating from Alabama.

Got a call from this number, and it was automated. They were calling a new number for me. So this might be a call for the last person who had my number, because it sounded like some warranty for a car was going to end if they didn't press "1" and connect with a representative.
