THE PEOPLE RECEIVING PHONE CALLS ARE CORRECT AS WELL AS THE INDIVIDUAL THAT HAD WORKED FOR CERTEGY. CERTEGY IS A CHECK VERIFIER AND COLLECTION AGENCY ON BAD CHECKS. AND AS FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ARE RECEIVING CALLS IT MOST LIKELY IS A SCAM ALOT OF SCAMMERS HAVE USED THEIR NAME TO STEAL INFORMATION. WE HAVE HAD THEM CALL INTO OUR COMPANY PRETENDING TO BE CERTEGY.

I just received call from this number. I did not answer because I am working. I did try and call back and I was informed that the number is unable at this time. That is wried for a company not to be available at this time. I do not have any bad checks out. Why are they calling me. They called me yesterday and last night . They never leave a message. And if you have a bad check the business will call you and then if you don't pay they will send it to a collections company.

Debt Collector
Today is the first day this company called me. No one talked. Called back the number and a recording stated it a collection company. Never heard of them, but pretty sure they work with another collection agency fro Boston. That company has been calling me once or three times a day as late as 7:00pm. That has been going on for two months plus. I dont answer when they call. Got me a lawyer, no fee, waiting to see if they file with court papers. One thing I dont understand is why collection agencies dont go to court and get this game over with. My problem was with car loan which was reposest  three years ago. I am going to fight them no matter what they do. I recommend you record time, date and phone number of collection agency. After a month get hold of no fee lawyer and hope for the best.

My question is : If Certegy is doing legitimate collections, Why don't they send the debt in writing? That is

the law and it is the Fair Credit ACT. They are supposed to do that if requested and not calling! I have

consulted with an attorney on this matter and you (Person who works for Certegy) are in possible violation

of the laws. You guys like to threaten people who may owe or don't owe. By the way, you want to make a

complaint to the FTC.com they handle these. Most of these companies don't follow the rules and threaten

with false threats. They can't throw you in jail.

Why ignore them, when you can sue them for intentionally harassing a third party who has nothing to do with the debt?

I've been getting calls from these animals for about a year now.  Every day.  Multiple times a day.  Even on Sunday.  I never answer but they do leave a voice message asking for some woman I have never heard of.   They can call me for the next 50 years if they want but I'll just ignore them.

I've been getting calls from these guys for 3 months, and the debt they are attempting to collect was fulfilled 6 months ago when my university billed me directly.

THIS IS A SCAM, folks. Don't fall for it. They also call from an 800 number and leave the same scripted message. A male and a female, possibly two, are involved. When you call them, they immediately ask you for your bank account routing number. Also, legitimate collection agencies will contact you IN WRITING 30 days before calling so that you have a chance to dispute the debt.

Seems to me that if I write a bad check - my bank would be the first one to contact me.  It wouldn't go straight to collections!!!!

If this is an honest attempt to collect a debt, why does no one come on the line when this number calls to discuss the situation?  Why does an automated system ask for personal information (routing & account numbers)? Who in their right mind would give up such information without knowing to whom or for what the information was given?  Perhaps this company is a legitimate debt collector, but the tactics seem awfully suspect.
This is what gives debt collectors a bad reputation.  I've been laid off and got behind a couple of payments on a couple of bills.  I attempt to negotiate payment terms with creditors, but when that doesn't work and the debt collectors call, I then attempt to negotiate payments with them.  One can not pay what one does not have.
A reasonable approach by debt collectors would get much better results than harrassment and humiliation techniques.  Damaging my credit only makes it more difficult for me to get another job to pay the debt.  Who wins then? No one.
The calls from this company come outside legal hours and do not leave one feeling that the call is legitimate.  When something smells this fishy, it most likely is fishy...

I agree with the others. I have never written a bad check or even bounced a check, yet I am getting harassed every day by these people. I even went to the merchant they said the bad check was written and the merchant advised they did not anything about it. Imagine that! We are now in the process of seaking alternative measures to stop the calls.

They called early this morning...I picked up and no one answered.  So when I called back it was a debt collection agency...some guy named Fred is giving my phone number to a bunch of different collection agencies instead of his number...Oh well.  Just tell them they have the wrong number!

Certegy is  a company used by certain stores to collect when checks or debit card payments do not go through. Often, they are connected to several stores so if certegy has your information, it is possible that they can block you from writing checks and using your debit card at other stores. If they are calling you, it is in your best interest to try to get a hold of a customer rep and find out what they want. Don't give them any new information but make sure they don't have something against you.

Started receiving calls at 8:00am every morning since New Years Eve from this number. By the time I wake enough to answer the call goes to messaging and they don't leave anything. These scam calls are making my cell phone more of a nuisance than a convenience. I'm tired of the 8 or 9 calls I get from these scammers a week & I'm on the national Do Not Call Registry. It's a joke.

This is ridiculous!!!  Not only is this number calling me at 8am (as well as any time during the day or night)but several times without leaving message.  I don't answer phone calls from numbers I am not familiar with.  The last call left an automated message about collection of a debt.  I don't owe anyone.  And I'm not late on anything.  Since I read the stuff on the internet first, I am not going to call back!!  I have had my number on the "Do Not Call" reg. but telemarketers call anyway!  Fat lot of good that is.  You can complain all you want but no one seems to be stopping these pains in the a**es.

I don't know how they got my cell number but they call me all the time.  I have had 2 calls tonight and didn't answer either one.  They never leave messages.  When I have answered the phone, they ask for a person that isn't me and I've told them that, but they continue to call.  I'm just using up the last of my minutes on my old phone, and will start using my new phone number shortly.  Hopefully they won't start calling on THAT number!

They have called me at least 15 times in the past two weeks. Each time I answer they hang up. I do know they have an automated system that is likely messed up and not transferring the calls to a real person. I called them back and the system asked for a control number, my bank account number, and my bank's routing number. There is no way on God's green earth I'm giving that information out to some random company who can't even leave a message telling me what "debt" I owe them. Smells like a scam to me.
