DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE CALLS IN ANY WAY!!!  Same thing as responded to SPAM by asking to be removed from their database.  All you are doing is confirming that they have reached an actual live phone number or email address.  Report them to the National Do Not Call registry, but just delete the calls.  I've found in most cases that trying to block the number also doesn't work being they are spoofing numbers.  Our dear government has got to find a way to really up the penalties and fines for the a-holes who are doing this....

Robo calls with this message weekly under different numbers. I do not own a company. "On to update your free business listing. Again. 2. Update, your free Internet Business Directory listings, press 1."  If their building caught on fire and all the people in the company died, I would celebrate that day on an annual basis with balloons and cake.

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.

You are so correct.  I feel that we are giving them more permission to call us back when we start pressing no. 9, etc.  I heard of a scam one time that when we go pressing no. 9, no. 7, etc, that we are giving them access to an outside line that they don't have to pay for. so be careful.  I was a sucker once and did that, but they haven't stopped calling me yet, in fact they call back from several no's.  I wish there was an investigator on this and stop these scammers in their tracks.

Robocall ... "To update your free business listing press 1.  Again to update your free internet business listing press 1."  A pause of about 7 seconds to allow for a button press, then a hang up when I didn't.  No company or other info given.

*yawn*. Yet another spoofed number with the "update your Google/business listing" scam. Don't answer it, don't say a word, just wait until they hang up. Their robo-dialer records it as a dead number, and they move on to the next sucker. By the way, DO NOT press 9 to be removed from their list!!! It just confirms it's a valid number, they will NEVER stop calling you if you do that!!!

Got a call in from this number today. I hit a "1" I was connected to Heidi who said her company name was "Quick Visibility" .. when I asked where they were located she hung up. When I called the number back and hit "1" I got Elizabeth who claims she is with a company called Reliable Places. She asked what my company name was I told her "Quick Visibility". She couldn't pull any company up in her database by that name.. go figure.. Scam - big time.
