I got this call on the 10th; answered but then hung up after I heard the voice saying "this is your captain speaking". How do we stop these unwanted calls!!  At one point I received calls like this on the landline. Now that I dropped BELL and have VOIP. I don't have the hassle; but I also pay a lot less for more than BELL could ever offer. If you are interested in VOIP; look up Bramatel.com. Excellent choice.

Been getting the same calls in Ontario. Called them back and by pressing option 1 they say you will be removed from their calling list. We'll see what happens.

Did You By Chance use Kijiji? I noticed these calls started after I used Kijiji. I'm in Ontario as well.

I'm in the GTA and have gotten many calls from the 206 number.  Does anyone know how to stop it?

OK, I came here for the same reason everyone else did, I got a call from this number and
I wanted to see if somebody else picked up and actually found out what it was.

What I find here is a big flood of people thinking someone "gave" these guys your number.

I think I can safely guess that they got your number the same way they got mine, they are
dialing every single number that exists, nobody gave or sold it to them.  For example all the
prefixes from 993-999 in the 204 area code are in use by Telus so for example dial:

204-999-XXXX where x can be any number from 0 to 9, bang they generate 10,000 numbers,
now repeat that for every prefix that is in valid use and you'll have every possible phone
number that exists!  There is no way to "hide" a number yet still have it be valid.  Think
that through.  Not all will be in use but they can just dial them all to find out which ones
are valid and which ones aren't.

There is no way to "block" this on a valid phone number short of getting your phone company
to block _all_ incoming calls.  Some phone companies may have a service that helps you
"screen" them so you aren't bothered but that has it's limitations too.

There is a National DNC list which will actually be honoured by legit telemarketers (yes,
there is such a thing) but doesn't apply to a whole bunch of other things and even has
some exceptions (which I don't remember off the top of my head) and will of course
be ignored by anyone doing an outright scam.  This however doesn't mean any call you
get is a scam if you are on the DNC list because as I mentioned there are exceptions.
Also it is safe to say the DNC list won't stop people from misdialing you by accident or
stop the kid down the street from calling to ask if you refrigerator is running then telling
you that you should go out to catch it.  The DNC is slightly helpfull for _some_ purposes
but has many limitations.

SInce I didn't answer I have no clue what they are, whether or not it's a scam, whether they
are trying to sell something or have some other purpose.

So can everyone just remain calm, if you have some actual knowledge of what it is post it
so that everyone else who got the call but didn't want to/wasn't able to answer it or spend
the long distance to call it back can have some idea what it was about.  Everyone in a tizzy
stop flooding the page with unhelpful paranoia so people loking for something actually helpfull
don't have to dig as much for it. ^_-

So chill out, think, and try to be helpfull rather than hysterical.

Received call on cell phone several times. Once I returned call and got answering service. Tonight they called again with no message left.  I did a reversed search and got this site.
Don't appreciate being called on my cell phone when I get charged for all incoming calls.

I called their number after hours, I got a recorded message that sounded like the voices of Anonymous, it told me to press 1 to get off of their calling list.
I pressed one!!!!!!
Hope they honour it!

I will never answer a phone if I do not recognize the number. EVER!! Got caught in too many of the phone scams.Besides, it is a Washington State number and I live in Ontario.

from Ontario and this number calls me every friggin day...on my cell.  I don't answer it.  I am on Virgin Mobile.  I was with my boss  a few weeks back and my phone rang and I didn't know the number so I didn't answer.  His phone rang right after...within seconds after mine stopped ringing..he answered it and heard the horn and "this is your captain speaking"  we do not live in the same are at all and our numbers are very different....weird huh?

I've found this a landline in Seattle,WA. Below is the link. They ask you to pay $1 to show who they are. I wonder if we can take some legal action to stop those idiots. there  must be someone there who has power to crack down those activities, not just complain on internet.

I just got a new Blackberry so it is happening on more then iphones.  I am also with rogers and I am from north of Toronto.  Would really just like to block the number or all numbers with a 206 in front

I keep getting calls from that number too to my cell phone!

Thankfully I didn't answer this call then!

I would recommend that you create a contact on your phone with "DO NOT Answer". Search Google Images for Do Not Call or Do Not Answer the phone and you will find a pic to associate with your contact.

I keep getting calls from both numbers on my cell and I live in nova scotia very annoying!

I'm in Kingston and have just gotten a call from them on my cell phone. No one would have this number except friends and family, so it was clearly sold to them by Rogers. Can't say I am surprised considering the track record of Rogers. Thank God I only have a few months left on my stupid contract with them.

Annoying they are calling on my cell phone, sick and tired of unwanted calls.
