This is Evans Glass. Someone stopped by my house several months ago offering to give me a free estimate on replacing some windows. I accepted the offer in exchange for the gift certificate to Olive Garden he offered. I did not end up actually buying windows from them, and hadn't heard from them since. Until last week, and again today. They keep calling now. I'm going to ask them to take me off their list next time.

I missed a call from them today.  I entered a drawing at the travel show yesterday...they were giving away windows and a gas grill.  The woman said that the number would not be used for sales purposes.  @#^&*!

Yes, I also filled out a contest to win free windows at a TrueValue Hardware store.  Watch out who you give your phone number to and read the fine print.  Once, I was charged $30 on my phone bill for leaving my name and phone number on a contest entry at a fast food rest.

I don't know where they got my cell phone number from but they had better not call on it again lest I walk up to Seattle, WA and get "stern" with them.

at the True Value Hardware store they said it was for a contest plus a 30 free gift card to their store if I filled out some survey or something... I guess I see how they can afford to pay 30 dollars when they charge 30 for the call!

I have also been receiving calls from Evans Glass and not answering. Of course they don't leave a message for a return call. It's easy to erase the number but the calls keep coming. Will answer next time and demand they take me off their call list.

Last time we were at a home show expo must have been more than five years ago... I probably filled something out there.  But its very unlikely I'm going to have my windows ever worked on except by someone local.

But it might help if their caller ID functioned.  Sorry but I automatically send any number I don't recognize or lacks proper caller ID to voicemail.

All good info to know.  I did enter a drawing at the Puyallup Fair, but scribbled off the "receive a quote" box and was assured by a very nice elderly lady that I would only be called if I won. Maybe I really did win this time!  **lol**

I bought windows from them and I still get calls. I like the windows...they're never as inexpensive as they make it sound...They sure do the job, tho'. Whenever I've had a problem the service has been quick and professional. But, I'm really getting tired of those phone calls at all times of the day. I have asked them to stop, but I just ignore them now.

I got a rude call from Evans Glass the other evening. He said he was out at our place and gave us an estimate.
When I told him we were not interested and that we were happy with our windows.... they guy went off and insulted me, implying I was stupid for being happy with our out dated windows.  He actually went on insulting me until I hung up.  Wow how rude...not a good way to make $$ for a company.  Any time someone talks about wanting new windows...I'll redirect them letting them know WHO NOT TO GO TO.

why dont you people grow a spine, answer the phone, and tell them to put you on THEIR do not call list.
they will stop calling.... or are you scared that if you answer the phone you wont be able to say no to their pitch?  by the way... if you sign any form giving permission to for anyone to call you, the national do not call list does not apply for that buisness.  your the one that wanted to win the free bar-b-que, or shopping spree, or whatever it was....

Window sales scheme shut down by Washington AG
BY NICK REES
SEATTLE (Legal Newsline) - The Washington attorney general's office has announced a settlement with a Seattle-based window installer over alleged deceptive sales practices and scare tactics.

Evans Glass was alleged to have convinced consumers that they were receiving a bargain on services and informed them that sales reps were going to perform a free home energy audit.

For the energy audit, the Evans Glass sales reps wore tool belts and used high-pressure sales pitches that lasted for as much as four hours to sell windows. The states complaint also alleges that the price of the windows in question was misrepresented, with consumers told that the windows were being sold at a special reduced price from a much higher price.

"The law is as clear as glass: If you intend to sell windows you can't get your foot in the door by telling consumers you're going to do something else and you can't make up discounts and rebates to trick consumers into thinking they are getting a deal," Assistant Attorney General Jack Zurlini said.

The complaint filed against Evans Glass also alleges that fraudulent endorsements were used, including informing customers that the company had some form of partnership with local governments and organizations. The complaint also alleges that Evans Glass used forged letters to give the appearance that a glass manufacturer had chosen the business as part of an energy efficiency study based on the quality of its products and services.

Evans Glass is also accused in the complaint of employing scare tactics to suggest that the home inspection found deady mold, no matter what type or amount of mold was found.

In advertisements, Evans Glass stated that homeowners could save 40 percent on their monthly heating and air conditioning bills despite no reliable scientific evidence existing to substantiate the claim.

Civil penalties in the amount of $25,000 were suspended against Evans Glass provided that it abides by consumer protection laws in the future. Evans Glass, which denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement but agreed to restrictions on its marketing tactics, will also pay $60,000 in attorneys' fees and legal costs.

As a result of this suit, the Consumer Protection Division of the attorney generals' office has begun investigating other window and home siding installation businesses over similar allegations of inflated prices, nonexistent discounts and high-pressure pitches.

I had found some of these call complaints and was discouraged at first, but ordered the windows anyway because they had the best product(and I definitely did my research on all of them locally). I've had the new windows for 8 months, through the coldest winter I remember in some time, and it has been one of the best decision I made. My bill with PUD went from $425 for 2 months, down to 185!! Right now it's end of May and it's hot out and we're finally comfortable in our home in this weather. This has encouraged me to post. Love the windows and our sales rep!

This is the best approach. Let Ace Hardware know how you feel. You can be sure that Ace is getting a kick-back from the sales this company makes from these phone lists and it is, to say the least, shrewd. I have had great success by telling a particular retailer that I am unhappy with that I will not longer shop there if they continue this practice, AND I will make sure to tell all my friends!!! You have to speak to them in a language they understand. Good luck.

almost every weeknight, around 6-7pm. Calls & doesn't leave msg. I had Evan's Glass out a month ago for a free estimate. They were over 2.5 times the cost of most other window installers.

Evans Glass came out to give us a free home energy survey.  The salesman stayed in our home for 4 1/2 hours.  He finally talked us into buying 3 windows for about $3500.00.  The next day we decided we didn't want to go with them.  I sent a notice of cancellation to Evans delivered next day air.   3 days later they started calling every night between 7-8 both my phone and my husbands. It's really very annoying.

Same as the others.  I gave my number for a drawing at a Thriftway grocery store.  They've called for weeks, but I've never answered.  Finally, I googled them and discovered I wasn't alone.  I knew I never should have given my number and I"m glad I never answered it.
