Victoria, Scott Cent tried this scam on me this week. I never would have known it without doing my research and finding your post. Thank you.

Scott H Warrick, scammer wanted to purchase products valued at $5,000.00 and have us include shipping of $2950.00 going to Argentina.  We were put in contact through an email he sent to a spokesperson that did a presentation at a show.  His Bogus shipping company called RENA Shipping Company, using a contact name James Manual.  Scott even called and spoke with the owner using phone# in Napa Valley CA...707-501-9249.  Called him back at that phone # and he answered.  (Whoever he really is!) The email addresses are scotthwarrick@gmail.com, renashippingcompanys@gmail.com.....BEWARE....SCAMMER!!!

I had a feeling this was a scam from the beginning when he started asking about buying (mattresses) as he put it. Figured I would screw with him. so i sent him to our website and asked him to pick, which he did. They he kept asking for the price, so again, i pointed him to the site, and i told him it included delivery. (Knowing he would pull some shipping nonsense) and of course, he wanted more than one to get the dollar value increase, then of course he wanted me to contact his shipping company for a rate.. Sorry genius, already covered that part of the conversation, and it's not going to happen. Also told him the only way I would take his order, is online and only after his transaction clears our Verified by Visa service and full AVS checking on his credit card.

i flat out told him that if his shipping carrier showed up they would be turned away. And I just revealed that I was able to confirm that he was not legit and i would be reporting him to the FBI cyber crimes division if he didn't purchase or stop emailing.

This guy is a bogus as it gets, and i have no doubt he will change his e-mail and tactics and come at my company again. we get about 10 of these with similar scams every month to various e-mail addresses. too bad  it comes from gmail or i would just ban the entire domain.

We get e-mails from these idiots all the time.  I also reported the e-mail to google and advised the account was being used tp perpetrate a scam in hopes they would shut this guy down.

We received an email from this same person today but now his name is Scott Warrick using a Gmail address.scottwarrick2@gmail.com
it was shady from the first email requesting a price for Hardwood flooring with no details.
I asked for more information so we can determine what this person was looking for. Out of the 4 questions they answered 1. I emailed back saying I needed a zip code and quality of wood they wanted and again they responded by giving me a zip code. We then gave them 2 prices for 2 different quality woods and they responded that they wanted to go ahead and purchase it. Purchase which one????
From the second email we received I started to get suspicious, so I did a search on the name and address he sent. He also wanted me to arrange shipping and get a freight quote from his shipper. I responded we don't do that. You have to handle it.

I just happened to do a search for that name in Copenhagen and found this entire thread of scams being reported.  I cannot thank you enough for making us aware of this.  We were suspicious, but you helped us avoid further risk.

In closing
A few things to remember:
1. If someone is making a big business or big small business impression, but they are using a free email service provider as a legal and legitimate email contact, ALERT THE RED FLAG COMMITTEE in your head!
2. YOU SHOULD DO A VALID BUSINESS SEARCH BEFORE  RESPONDING TO YOUR SPAM MAIL AND EVEN NEW BUSINESS CONTACT. Also this site was very valuable in justifying the suspicion. ALERT THE RED FLAG COMMITTEE in your head!
3.Just a not to help you with accepting credit card phone orders, have them send you a fax of there photo ID. Now in case he/she/they are reading this as a way to locate their bottleneck, then maybe we need to start writing to congress and our representatives for them to launch an official investigation into matters like these. Because this is not just one person, it is more than likely a group of persons proliferating this scam technique, with the majority of them coming from the African continent and London. It seems to be a typical African Scam or Nigerian Scam via internet. emails coming from these area should ALERT THE RED FLAG COMMITTEE in your head.
