I had similar experience with 3 calls on 8-16-11 from same middle eastern accented guy who started out doing survey on diabetics, the first call I listened and answered several questions until it became clear he appeared to be trying to sell me a monitor that you did not prick your finger with.  Told him was not interested and to not waste his time.  Two calls later same day, told him that I was not interested and again to STOP CALLING.  This morning 8-17-11, same guy calls and when I again told him was not interested, he responded with these words: "What makes you think I am selling anything?  I'm gonna come to your home and KILL YOU!  I'm gonna roast you and eat you alive!"  I calmly responded that I was reporting him and hung up.  Call came from UNAVAILABLE and number 1 on my caller ID.   Have you heard of this happening before?

I just got a voice mail message from a man with a middle eastern accent too.  He said he was from "Legal Investigation Department, State of Washington." He told me that I had been named on some kind of legal issue in Washington State, and that I had to call him immediately, and that people were on there way to my house.  He told me to call him back or only God could help me, then he proceeded to wish me good luck and a good day.  He said his name was William Walter.

I also recieved a call from a man with strong Indian/Middel East accent, a Nick Anderson with Legacy Legal something, something... accent so strong I could not understand.  Sounded like he was calling from a call center, very nosey.  He said it was a legal complaint with my name as a reference on the doc. If I did not respond full legal action would be taken and he wished me good luck.  A little scarry at frist so far do not know what info he has of mine.  When I called back I got his voice mail.

You need to call these guys back at about 7am your time. I received a call from an Officer "Tom Scott" claiming the same as most of the rest of the posts. He'd also contacted my adult daughter in another state. In the evening when I called the number (206-855-5350) the voice mail said William Walter (it was the same voice as the voice mail on both my phone and my daughter's phone). I've dealt with this scam before, so I called early in the morning and asked for Officer Tom Scott. I had done my research already and was pretty certain this was a scam. He told me he was Officer Scott's supervisor William Walter. It wasn't until later that he added Officer and a phoney badge number. He started trying to verify my info. I stopped him and asked what company he was "collecting" for. He gave me some vague BS about EME Marketing who owns a host of internet payday loan companies (he sounded like a commercial for them). I stopped him again and insisted on WHICH company. I told him I would not confirm or deny anything until I knew who the company was. He got frustrated and told me to stop interrupting him so he could finish reading his prompt. I nearly laughed out loud at that!

Anyway...long story longer. I got a little more info out of him and then laid into him. I told him the call was being recorded and that my attorney was working with the AG for my state and the call was being traced. I informed him that he was in violation of numerous FDCPA laws, federal and state laws--including impersonating an officer, in violation of US Bankruptcy laws, Identify Theft (which is a 20 year imprisonment and $100,000 fine) and repeated FTC violations as well. He got a little incensed and insisted that he was an officer and repeated his "badge #". I told him I could say I was Officer Suzy Q with badge #123 and that didn't make me an officer! He then tried to tell me I was breaking the law by calling him before 8am. Again...almost choked on the laughter. I let him know those provisions of FDCPA applied to collectors, not consumers. I ended up my pleasant little conversation with him by telling him I'd already contacted EME and they not only didn't have an officer Tom Scott or William Walter working for them, that they did not use any outside collection agencies to collect. So add hacking into a company's data base to the list of illegal activities!

By this time he's angry and goes into a loop--repeated what he'd already said. I told him my attorney would be contacting him and we were cooperating with all authorities to pursue him to the fullest extent of the law. "Officer Walters" told me he hopes I can sleep at night and hung up. We  have a trace on the number which is "assigned" to Belleview, Washington but is actually running out of the West Indies.

So to sum up my advise: Call them back (but hide your ID or they most likely won't answer), call early in the morning. Do some research and DO NOT give them ANY information about yourself no matter what they say. Turn everything you have over to the FTC, BBB, and local law enforcement. You may need to contact the 3 credit bureaus to notify them of ID theft if they do have your info. Good Luck and don't let up on the crooks!

I just started getting these call today, he said that I was being investigated for fraud.  He stated that he was with the FBI, his accent was very odd so I hung up.  He has been calling back almost every hour but I haven't answered.  After reading these comments, I won't be answering at all.

Wise to the Scam,
I just wanted to thank you for the info & heads up.  I have not received another call nor been able to get a live person when calling back.  Interestingly enough I received a letter stating a class action law suit had been filed against X Company (a company I had done business with in the past not a payday loan company) for knowingly releasing personal info of their clients and not doing anything to rectify the situation or inform their clients of the issue at hand.  I plan to contact them as well as the credit bureaus and will keep additional info on these crooks to pass on to the appropriate authorities.
Take care,
J

Today I received a call from a blocked number (it showed up as 000000000).  The same E. Indian/Middle Eastern (not as bad of broken English though) voice left a message saying they were trying to collect on a payday loan that a friend of mine had used me as a reference on and that he needed to call Officer Mike Morris back at 347-289-3901 or my friend would not like the procedures taken on him.  Again it sounded like he was calling from a loud call center. He went on to say he was calling on behalf of financial companies against to my friend and he would like the results.  This time instead of good luck he wished me a blessed day.  These crooks will try anything!  I have yet to return the call but will post updates.  (call type list Debt Collector only because Fraud Debt Collector was not a choice)

They operate from two phones and they are not calling from the States.

If you are called from them again the numbers you should call are:

Local Fraud Number

Federal Trade Commission at 877-438-4338

To keep an eye on your credit since they have your SSN

Experian at 88-397-3742

They are using bullying and religion to get you to pay a debt you probably do not owe.

I have been dealing with these same idiots with these same names you all have referenced above. They have been trying to get in touch with one of my employees. This has been going on for months and I just laugh when they call. I'll keep these people on the phone just to piss them off.  I ask all sorts of questions, relevant or not.

Today, he was Officer Kavin Smith...yes "Kavin"...I made him spell it three times.

He stated his location was Farmington....state?....DN.  Yes..."DN"  (OK then!?!?!)

Badge #3022  (After I requested it and then the 5 second pause so he could think of a badge number...LOL!!  Loser!)

The 206 area code traces to Bainbridge Island, Washington. (lat 47.62 long 122.52)  I suspect that is just the point where the out-of-country calls come into the US.  Maybe not.  I have reported their FBI impersonations to the Seattle FBI office about 2 months ago.  No response from them.

They have claimed to be FBI, Criminal Investigators, Legal Investigators, etc.
Names so far:  William Walter, Nick Anderson, William Felthcher/Beltcher/Bulger  (Heavy accent).  A few others I didn't write down when his all started.

Anyway kids...have fun!  Let's see what we can do together to put an end to this.

Again these people are out scamming us innocent people and threatening to sue or take us to court or be picked up at our place of employement or home.  I too have gotten these calls from a person name Paul Richard and a supervisor by the name of Kevin Smith.  Be careful they can give you a real scare if you're not familiar with these scams.

I quickly printed off my credit report because I knew it was a scam.

I also got a call from a Nick Anderson saying the exact same thing. He said I was listed as a reference on a legal document and if i did not respond within 10 days then full legal action would be taken on me. The first time he called I answered but could hardly understand him, so i hung up. He immediately called back two times and left me a voicemail. It was very noisey in the background. He said only God can save me and that he wishes me good luck. He never mentioned what state he was from or what this was about. I called back and got his voicemail. Does anyone know what these calls are about?

I work in Southern CA and just spoke to a citizen who has received phone calls from this number asking for the citizen's COMPLETE SOCIAL SECURITY number and when denied - makes threats.  I called the phone number three times and spoke to at least 2 different Middle-Eastern male adults who were evasive with their answers and hung up on me when I confronted them and demanded they stop trying to "scam" or "con" people in Southern CA.  There is no doubt in my mind these people are just that, scammers and con artists.  DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ANYONE WHO CALLS YOU AND ASKS FOR IT OVER THE PHONE, OR IN PERSON FOR THAT MATTER.  Any information obtained in this manner will undoubtedly lead to identity theft!!

Ol' Ackhmaad Azule called me today and began calling me names that did not even make sense. Then after talking to my girlfriend I found that any number beginning with a plus (+) sign is bad news. How do we put a stop to this? I was called from +206-855-5350, both my cell # and my home phone which are supposedly on the National No Call list. I ask then how did Ackhmaad and his gang of terrorist get them? It is pretty scary to think they can get US citizens information this easily in this day and age of computer hacking and idenity theft, what's next? Our SSI #'s? Drivers license #'s? Home addresses? Very scary indeed!

He strongly advised me to get legal representation before the court hearings and wished me good luck. He had a middle eastern accent and new my information such as my date of birth and the last 4 numbers of my social security number. I would like to know if this is just a scam or should i reply. How would he get such information for me such as the last 4 of my social, birthday and home address. Plus link that information to 2 of my phone numbers one of which i do not use never have, it is my ex's number that hasnt been used in months for anything.

PHONE CALL FROM 206-855-5350 (landline from Bainbridge Island, WA unlisted) – claiming to be William Walter from US Investigation Bureau representing EME Marketing in regards of legal complaint # AL0786512—Check Fraud

Mr Walter has a thick “Indonesian” or "Middle Eastern" accent citing that I made a payday loan on or about 6/3/2009 and this loan is in collection. Mr Walter indicated that I was about to be sued and or arrested over the supposed debt. He provided a partial bank account number -drawn off of Bank of America. Although I do have an account there he could not supply me with the complete number. He stated that $390 was deposited in this account on 6/3/2009. Upon review of this account no such deposit was made. However there was a deposit of $200 from Salaryfast.com. I called the phone number indicated on the transaction and spoke with the representative named Bruce. He informed me that the account was paid in full on 12/11/2009 and also that several of their customers have received similar threats. That this was a huge scam and not to pay this extortion.
Mr Walter has also made contact with my daughter issuing the same threat to her.

I SUBMITTED ONLINE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FBI AS WELL AS ISSUED AN EMAIL TO MR CUCCINELLI the VA State District Attorney.

4/21/2010

Phone Call from 707-474-3337 looked number up on google and found that the number is attached to Fraud. Individual calling himself Chris Mathews. When I call him back he claimed that Chris Mathews was his paralegal and that his name was Kevin Lee with American Law Division. This is the same voice from before. I confronted on the phone about the call last week and that I also thought him to be William Walter. Once I announced that I reported that call to the FBI Fraud as well as the State’s attorney general he said goodbye.
