i was called today from a guy with an accent saying that I would be arrested for non payment of a loan the number that called me was 310-775-9069 people becarefull who you give your information to.

It is legitimate, the place is called Valentine & Kebartas Inc. They are a collection agency, and have a website. I called today to pay a debt, and I had no problems at all. Maybe because I was willing to pay my bill, and not question what it was. The letter I recieved from them explained what the debt was from, and what the amount was. So no it is not a scam.

I ALSO RECEIVED A CALL FROM 1-208-955-7231. THEY ARE TRYING TO COLLECT WHAT I OWE US CELLULAR. I SPOKE TO THREE PEOPLE, ALL HAD A VERY HEAVY ACCENT AND VERY DIFFCULT TO UNDERSTAND. THEY WERE TRYING TO THREATEN ME AND STATED THEY WERE AFFLICATED WITH SOME SORT OF ATTORNEY. I WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE GIVING THEM ANY INFORMATION. I SMELLED A SCAM WITH THIS PEOPLE

I got a call from this number today on my cell phone that said that I needed to call back as soon as possible about an open case to "make it go away". They tried to sound official by reading off a case number, but left no other information like their name, where they were calling from, etc. Sounds like a scam to me.

The message left was impossible to understand because the caller had such a heavy accent but i could make out the call back number which is the same as given above, just a different extension.

They said they were bill collectors. They knew about a particular debt that my husband owes on and wanted payment in full with the promise of taking it completely off his credit report. The accent was so heavy that it was impossible to understand everything that was said (I also have a problem with those that speak real fast and mumble). I don't feel comfortable with paying over the phone in this situation. they gave me a toll free callback number 1-877-250-7416 ext 849 ask for Downy.
