I got a call from the same Indian accented guy about 8 am on Saturday morning. He said "Good morning" which made me think he is in North America. He gave me this saga about the reports Windows 7 was sending to the company he represens about critical and deadly issue my Windows was having. So I just let my hubby take care of the situation. He listened, agreed, nodded, then hung up. Told me the guy wanted to do some remote "fixing" and asked for access. By the way none of my computers runs on Windows 7... Since the call was interrupted they called 3 more times. The callback number he gave was 209-800-1004, but my caller ID showed also each time a different number - 863-555-0169, 319-555-0119, 480-555-0134... Just to have cycle completed, I sent email with all this to Microsoft. I consider getting help from the police.

I got a call from this guy. He told me he was with Windows Technical.  When I asked why the caller ID said 'DirAssist WA' and not Microsoft, he said they were a manufacturer and outsourced the work to them.
He wanted me to get on the computer and follow his instructions from the Start menu.  I told him I thought he might be a scammer and asked for a call back number. the caller ID was 206-555-0109.  The callback number was 209-800-1004

If you want confirmation, any number with 555 in it is disabled I believe by the phone company.  That's why whenever you see a phone number displayed in a movie or TV show, the number always contains '555' as the local prefix code.

Walks like a duck. Quacks like a duck.  Yep, its a scam.
Microsoft doesn't hire firms to do this, they update your computer remotely about every other week.  They don't go backwards to phones and call centers, they use this shiny new invention called....wait for it...THE INTERNET!!

These people are insane and should be reported immediately. They pose as windows, get agitated when you say "no", tell you your computer will crash if you do not pay them $199.99 and then repeat call at 8 am insisting that you are virus ridden and you still need them, not taking no for an answer. They continue to call and harrass, and when you call back there's a busy signal. These people need to be reported and shut down!!!!

This has scam written all over it - stay away. Indian guy called my home this morning (11/14/2013), lots of indian accented call center chatter in background, with similar story as above . . . "Microsoft Technical Support calling, that my Windows computer was sending alert to Microsoft due to something I downloaded". They wanted me to get on my computer and follow their instructions. When I asked them to email me from a Microsoft email address for verification, they declined saying that was "unsecure". I asked them for a case number, which they said there was no case number. I asked they which of my computers was sending alerts, they said the "windows computer". They did provide a callback number at my request (209.800.1004), which was same number that appeared on my caller ID. However, I called them back from my corporate workplace. An indian guy picked up the phone with a simple "hello" and no identifying himself or the company. When I grilled him a bit, he said they were not Microsoft, and that there must have been "some miscommunication".  I could hear the call center in the background, same as the initial call earlier in the day. So I called them back again . . . . same Indian guy answered . . . . and in his heavy Indian accent said they were now a laundry (which by itself was pretty hysterical). I'm going to call and order pizza next from this guy . . . .

I got a call from "Allen O'Connor" with a heavy Indian accent today. He had my name and address. He told me basically the same thing he said to the others. "An alert was being sent to the Computer Tech Dept of Windows Operating Systems and that I should not turn my computer on because I was infected, but not a virus."  I said I was not comfortable with going on the computer and following someone's instructions blindly. I asked for, and he gave me, a call back number of 209-800-1004, different from the number he was calling from 206-555-0100, but I am not about to call him back. He said if he didn't hear from me he would call back early tomorrow. I called a Microsoft support number I found online and they remotely checked my computer. They said that Windows would not get signals from my computer, and that they do not call people like that. After they checked my computer and found some  things to correct, they tried to sell me a service for $199.95. I feel that they were a legitimate company, but not Windows themselves as I thought. I disconnected the remote, got their phone number, and called the Geek Squad.

I got 2 phone calls today from 209-800-1004, first persons name was Allen O'Conner, Indian, second Michael O'Conner, I asked how they got American names they said they are Indian but in America, from Goha India.  I told the second person I'd check this all out & call him back, so far nothing listed with the BBB, so I too believe this is a scam.  I told them I have an anti viurs protection they said this isn't a virus it's an infection, really?  Think I've just been scamed.

Prank Call
My mother received a call from someone with a heavy India accent named Michael saying he was from Windows technical support and that she needed to do something? to her computer and if she didn't it would crash. She had him hold and called me from her cell phone. Told her to get his name and phone number so I could call him back. I call him back from my home. He did answer and it sounded like a call center in background. He told me he was on another line and would call me back. He didn't. I called again later in the day but no answer. Believe this to be a scam call. When I checked her call Id, there was a call just before from 971-217-9518 which is definitely a scam when I looked that up. There were no reports for this 209 number however. ????
