This is legitimate. It is from your local police department alerting you of some dangerous situation such as a robbery in your neighborhood or something like that. It's some new, universal-type alert system.

I was sound asleep at 2:45 this morning (Tues.29 Jan 2013). My bedside phone rang. (830 303 3077)
It woke me and I answered "hello." A recorded voice of a woman said, "EMERGENCY!
Please do not hang up. Press one on your phone for more information."
I did not press one. I hung up, and there were no more calls for at least an hour.
I could not go back to sleep for about an hour. If I had pressed "1" what emergency message
would I have heard?
I don't think there was any emergency. I hope I don't get another such call.

My thought about the late/early phone call was about him. Obviously it was not.
I have grown children and grandchildren, and I thought about them and other possibilities.
