They post ads on Craigslist saying they're looking for extras for TV and movie roles. They call you and tell you to come in for an appointment. When you come in, they demand $200 to take photos of you.

Well, i had the same experience with this guy too. I went in there, and when I talked to him it was like I was hypnotized. I couldnt understand what he was saying but then somehow I ended up paying $150 for headshots. I go into another room, a guy spends about 5 minutes taking 20 photos of me. I have been on photoshoots before, and I knew that what he was doing is not how its done, but I didnt say anything. Then I go back to "Max" and he tells me that they are going to put up my headshots on their website but I have to pay them again, this time it was $456. I did it! I dont know what I was thinking. He tells me to come back the next day. Also leads me through the back door. When I walked out of there I realized what just happened. I called my credit card company and my bank and reported this as a fraud. The next day I came back with 3 friends and told him that I want my money back. I was recording everything that he said to me. He agreed and told me in front of my friends that he will give the money back. We will see if he does. Even if he doesnt, my credit card company will  deal with him and his little business.

I went in there today. first impression: "woah - this is shady"
you are given a form to fill out and sit in a small make-shift waiting room with posters of random movies. I thought someone was going to murder me in this creepy room - with music blasting, presumably so you don't hear any conversations/discussions/altercations happening in the next room, his office.
He speaks a hundred miles an hour to make sure you don't have a second to think clearly. He showed pictures of people he helped get started, now on posters around the city, or in films/shows, including a baby he claims to have gotten onto Baby Mama as an extra (tina fey was holding it in a picture).
He then proceeded to inform me on what to do, i.e. pay 150 dollars for pictures to get on the "database".
I simply said - I wasn't expecting to pay any money today - sorry. After a while, he offered to take just the headshot for 25 dollars. I wasn't buying it. He leads you out through another door so you don't come in contact with any future "clients", or people he wants to rip off. The guy is money hungry. Someone, please end this guy's act. He is stealing people's money. He says his name is Brad. His card reads Max Holden, model / talent director, number: 516-679-6107. The number that called me was 212-268-8013

Most of you are very smart to have checked this place out before going.  They called me today to bring my daughter in.  And of course I checked them out.  Thank you for confirming my feeling.  However, all you young people out there, remember a real talent agency will not ask you for MONEY!  A real talent agency would not have a cheesy photographer there to take your headshot.  Your headshot is so important, how can someone take a great picture in their office?  By the way, I was contacted by Stacey.  The number they called me from is (212)268-9734.  And yes, they're still calling themselves M Entertainment.  Who ever was ripped off should be calling the attorney general's office. Good luck.

nobody has the money to sue this guy.????? come on im just surprised at how many people let it get so far as to meet up with him and give him money for nothing to further their careers. I have a fake set up meeting with this guy tomarrow i should go in with a nine strapped to my ankle and scare the s*** out of him. hit him over the head with the butt of the gun the make the his two lady friends that help him out suck on my toes. i have a warped sense of humor but the guy doesnt deserve to die he just needs to know what it is ike to be taken advantage of to the point that he feels utterly helpless. what would his mother think of him. She's probally cruela devil but, every person has a heart. at least a small fraction of it working. maybe not thats why he loves praying on people. i mean he has to have made enough to pay the two women that help him out. so he could be tied in the mob world. you never know. show up to his meeting and disapeare forever. its something to think about. in a world of craigslist killers you never know.

I JUST WENT IN AN PAID 20 DOLLARS. I refused to give them the full amount and was nervous the whole time I was there. It was super shady... they are expecting me to pay them on Thursday but there is no way I'm going to. DO NOT GO. I'm legitimately scared that they have my name and address....

I also applied for extras work for Law and Order SVU. A woman named Stacey had left me the voicemail, and the woman that answered the phone when i returned her call sounded altogether confused, unprofessional, and had no idea who Stacey was. This is a very common scam. I'm glad I knew to check it out before wasting transit fare, time and energy.

Thanks ebedel for contacting the BBB!

They are horrible people who post ads say they're looking for extras. They call you up and tell you, you have to come in for an appointment.  Then they sweet talk you and try to get you to pay $200 for headshots. Disgusting.

I went into this "agency", now simply calling itself "M", after replying to a Craigslist ad seeking extras for Law and Order: SVU and a Men In Black sequel.

I arrived at the appointed time. The agency's office was cramped and filthy dirty. I was brought into the agent's office. He called himself "Max Holden" and showed me an obviously photoshopped picture of himself standing behind the actress Molly Sims on the set of the television show "Vegas".

I told him that I was interested in working as an extra and tried to tell him about the other (unpaid) extra work I'd done in the past. He cut me off and proceeded to launch into a rapid-fire spiel about how I could do print work. I assured him that I was not interested as I am not a model and don't particularly like posing for photographs. Once again, he cut me off, telling me that he could photograph me right on the spot for a fee of $139. I was well dressed and well groomed but not at all camera ready.

Once again, he hit me up for money. I pled poverty. He then stated that he would be willing to take whatever it was that I currently had on me and promised to set up an installment plan. Sensing that he was scamming me, I stated that I didn't get paid until the next week and promised to come back next week. (I have no intention on returning, incidentally.)

"Max" then quickly hustled me out the back door of the suite away from the front lobby--probably to prevent me from warning the six other people who were still waiting for him. He did hand me a business card. No name of the company. No URL. And the telephone number had a 516 area code.

When I got home, I checked him out with the Better Business Bureau. His business, in its previous incarnation "World Model Talent", had received a rating of "F" as he had failed to respond to a complaint lodged by a previous customer. The BBB had him listed at a Queens address.

I already contacted the BBB as well as several other organizations but I'd thought I'd give everyone a head's up about the new twist to this guy's scam.

I just got a call from 212-244-4431 - they called themselves m entertainment. I asked for there address and asked if they had a website. Couldn't find anything - i asked if they had fees, they girl said "no fees or contracts" They sounded familiar so i googled the phone number and found this website. Something should definitley should be done about these guys. I have been to the agency before responding to an ad on craiglist - luckily I was with a friend, the building itself is very CREEPY -

No real agent charges money upfront -
There are a lot of scams on Craigslist itself - in looking for working - i look for indepedent films - direct source - u can find them - if it is an agency on craigslist it is generally a scam

here is a forum i found http://www.extrasformovies.com
they are free, and they list casting calls for free too

Yup, complete scam.  If they just added the letters ''S  C   A"  before the "M" in their company name ''M Entertainment", they'd have it completely right.

Got a call from (212) 268-8013 this morning. Same story. Sounded sketchy and unprofessional on the phone. Asked that I come in today to 224 W. 35th St. 2nd Fl. Room 206.

After googling the number and coming across all these scam stories I called them back wanting them to remove my phone number from whatever database they have but they would not. When I brought up the Craigslist ad calling for extras they sounded confused, not knowing what movie the ad had been for or anything.

BIG SCAM! Calls itself "M Entertainment" now.

The same thing just happened to me! I responded to a craigslist ad for extra work in a kate winslet movie (there were multiple ads, all different movies with different name drops) and got a call from a lady a few minutes ago. I made the appointment and then looked up the address and number. So glad I did! I wont be keeping that appointment, these people need to get off craigslist and be shut down. I can only imagine how many people who dont know better that get scammed. Oh! and now the place is called "Max Entertainment"

Thank you Thank you Thank you all so much for posting about these SOB's. I would have been so pissed if I went to NY and they would have tried the "you need new headshots" scam. Someone tried that once here in Wayne, NJ YEARS ago and I was lucky enough to have someone tell me that if anyone ever tried to get you to take new pics they are scams. I am so glad that you all posted cause it saved me money on gas, parking, and tolls!!! I hope we can run these scums out of business.
