THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM. THEY ARE DOING ID FRAUD. THEY ASK FOR PERSONAL INFORMATION AND CREDIT CARD INFORMATION TO CHARGE A ONE TIME PAYMENT OF 1.98 IN RETURN TO GETTING A CASTING CALL. FOUND THEIR AD ON CRAIGSLIST. REPORTED THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU FOR FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. THEIR AD DOES NOT MENTION ANY FEES OR WEBSITES YOU NEED TO SET UP. DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER AND IF THEY CVALL YOUM, HANG UP!

I responded to a casting job ad in craigslist posted 022610 at 9:30am today. Instead of giving me an appointment for an interview, they asked for $1.98 and my personal information and credit card information. False advertisement. Possible ID fraud when you call this number. If they call you or you see this number, either hang up or don't call it. This is a scam.

U P D A T E on scam and other numbers.
I did a "9901" search on the number. It is NOT a valid New York City landline number; it's a cell #.
Unable to determine which carrier.
F.Y.I. being in the alarm and telco business has taught me some tricks. One is how to identify any telephone number in New York City. Other areas probably have a similar system. Ask around where you happen to be.
In NYC: if you see a number on your call ID and you cannot GOOGLE it and it's unlisted, here's what you can do; the next best thing. Dial the area code (xxx), the prefix (555), and 9901. This will give you the central office location and ALL prefixes in that area. In other words, it will tell you what borough & neighborhood that phone number is located in. It's a Verizon "loop code' just like 958, 660, etc. and if you don't get the recording of C.O. prefixes (...this is the Ozone Park DS-1 switch, handling 835,etc.) you can assume it IS A CELL PHONE.

I found an ad with the same number on CL.(Posted at the bottom of this msg.)

The lady claimed she would give me a username and password to some website so I could upload my photos and start a "portfolio" as an extra (and said there's other options besides extra, dancers, singing and what not.. yeah right..)
She said there was only a 1 time fee of $1.98 and then told me I had to make the payment through credit card and asked me for all my personal info and then my credit card#. hahaha.. At that moment I said, sure, just give me a minute--HANGUP. She also gave me this other number to call (800-710-4210) in case I had any "concerns" and if nobody called me for any jobs as an extra within 90 days then I'd get my money back..

Sure, I'd be eagerly waiting to get my $2 bucks back.

Here's the ad. These people don't get tired of this kind of crap? Can't they get a real job or wtf??
