Scammer...

Received a call from this number on 04/14/14 at 10:30AM CST. Left a message about the same medical alert scam package described above.  Of note, I am not in their target demographic and I have paid to blacklist my number so my guess is they are getting desperate and just randomly dialing numbers. The number was reported and blocked.

If these people are scamming elderly people in their 60s their stupid.  We are a new different generation, much smarter than they are.  We know how to block calls,  I just don't answer, never called back, never become a victim to the silly things these idiots can dream up.  Maybe someday go get a real job!

I am the 'Do Not Call Registry' but continue to get these calls. I want them to stop. Thank you.

The ONLY purpose in the medic alert for seniors scammer's call to us, is to get our credit card numbers, so they can cheat us!

Just got a phone call from my house phone a few minutes ago. Called ID showed up as "FREE MEDICAL AL". I didn't bother to answer it since from the ID, I already knew it was a scam. They also left a voicemail, message and when I listened to it, there was no message or anyone talking, which I found to be annoying.. Why would you leave a voicemail and not say anything?

You'd think these scammers and telemarketers would disguise themselves better instead of saying on the ID that it's a scam, but I guess they're not as smart as you think.

This number left answering machine message. CID said UncommonGoods. Message said a friend or family  member had listed us for a free medical alert.  Said to press one for instructions. Answering machine stopped recording.

We bought a Panasonic cordless phone that allows you to block up to 30 numbers. It's great so far. We might need to buy one of the devices that is specifically for blocking incoming calls though. LOTS of numbers to block!  If anyone's interested, google "Call Blocker" or "Caller Block" for phones and devices that will block calls.

I bought a Panasonic model KX-TG7871 that will hold up to 250 blocked calls.  So far I have blocked 106.  This number is the 106th.  Federal and state DNC is an absolute joke.  Telemarketers use that list as their prospects.

Recording of a male voice, which may have started before the tone on the voice mail, but I think it is deceptive that the key bit about what is the cost is clipped off. Because the recording does not reveal cost, it hides its telemarketing activity.
Full quote from recording:
"Cost to you due to new health care regulations, we have a system waiting to be shipped out to you. Press one now to receive your personal medical alert system, and by taking advantage today you'll also receive 1000 dollars in grocery savings coupons plus a 75% prescription discount card.  Press one now to receive your personal medical alert system.  Press 9 to opt out."

In my opinion, this recorded message does not fulfill the requirements of a charitable exemption from the do-not-call registry.

How do you ban specific phone numbers?

Put a note by your phone and when a number like that comes in answer with:

"National wire fraud department" or whatever you'd like ti use for the first word

Works every time.

Another of those obnoxious medic alert calls. They're getting sneakier though. CID said Uncommon Goods which is an online retailer I've ordered a few things from. A lot of robocalls hang up if they get an answering machine, but this one just kept talking.

I bought a small airhorn at Wally World.  I keep it close to the phone.  Once I get a live person on the road, I wait until they ask me a question, so I know they're listening, and I blast 'em with it.

I don't know if it hurts their ears or not, but it certainly is fun!

I too got a call from these idiots, stating it was from the shipping department of the Medical Alerts Company and that my order was ready to be shipped.

Of course, it is a complete crock!  But, I immediately file a complaint online with the attorney general for my state (where you report these kind of calls when you are on the do not call list)

My state is pretty aggressive.  I got a letter from the attorney general last month notifying me the last company I reported was fined $150,000.00!  So, find the Attorney General for your state, where to file the do not call complaints, and start reporting them as soon as you hang up

If everyone starts doing it, the fines will come and they will eventually either stop or close their doors.  Stop complaining and fight back!

It's worthless.  It does not matter that you are on the list.  They don't care.

Someone please tell me how to block these calls.  They are driving us crazy.

I've gotten these medic alert crap calls from many different area codes. This is the first one from the NYC area. My caller ID just showed the number. I was out, and they left a robotic message, which cut out halfway through. Even more egregious than just a hang-up call, according to the DNC registry! I will report it, not that it will do any good!

I got a call from this number this afternoon at three o'clock. The caller ID read Free Medical Alert. When I answered, it was a pre-recorded message about being eligible for a free medical alert system. The message instructed me to press 1 to take advantage of the offer or to press 9 to opt out. I pressed neither and hung up.

First time getting this call -- left no message, not even a robotic voice one.

This is a election year. Is there just one person running for office who would say they would get a bill passed for the telephone companys to provide a way either free or a small charge for people to block these numbers. They would not have to be worried about about being elected. I know the telephone co would fight this because they must make a lot of money off of these people but this is the only way they can be stopped.

Just got a call. Caller I'd actually said "Free Medical Alert."  I do what an earlier posting says by hitting talk and off then blocking. With so many irate people I wonder why these thugs stay in business. Guess there are enough who fall victim to their thievery. So sad.

Just received this same robo message from the hijacked "Uncommon Goods" number: 212-660-1480 with the "medic alert" rigamarole. Blocked it. I hope the legit company gets their problem fixed soon!

PS this site should include a Call Type selection of "Scam" or something similar!

Call on my answering machine from 212-660-1480. Message that my order was received and ready for shipment ....referred by ........ eligible for free medical alert system - press 1 for shipment 9 to opt out. I haven't placed any order so this is obviously some type of scam. I don't answer any calls from numbers I do not recognize. Any future calls will be ignored.

Left message about how to receive a "valuable free perscriotion discount card."

Received 2 calls yesterday from a blocked "Unknown Caller" yesterday, and one last week where the caller ID appeared as 00000 - all with the same message.
