Answered it this time - sounded like Asian female with strong accent. Seemed to be following up on a computer problem... but she hung up after a few words. Similar call two weeks ago with Asian sounding man with strong accent. He likewise suddenly hung up after a few words. They both seemed to know my name.

Got this number on my home landline today.  Was not home, and "they" did not leave any message on my voicemail.  Now they are calling in Georgia.  Wish all these type of crap calls would be put to a stop.  I guess there are just some people/companies that like to annoy us civilized individuals with calls that we DO NOT want !!   When the government made that "Do Not Call" list, they did it completely backwards.  It should have been made and legislated so that a company couldn't call us unless we called to add and put ourselves on the "Please DO Call Us" list.

Robocaller , scammer
Called 11:00 03/21/2012
A "roboCaller."

I never spoke to them. This outfit is "phishing for information."

From other message boards as this I have found the call representing themselves as "the FBI "DESPERATELY needing to "update my information." Other times they claim they are attorneys, I have been sued, and they "need to veriify in formation." These are phishers. Trying to steal YOUR information so they can set up charge accounts in your name and STEAL your money/leave you with BAD DEBTS. NEVER return such calls. It verifies you are a house holder =what they are phising for!

My TeleBouncer handled this call and sent it directly to the answering machine. Answering machine recorded a busy signal.

'Telebouncer MUST be connected directly to the telephone line and the whole house connected to this machine.(Needs to be "first" when your number rings.) Houses built with a "demarcation point" are perfect for this. Demarcation point is a telephone jack located in a closet. Plug the machine into this jack and the wire which was plugged into the jack, before, now plugs into the machine. You could probably get a new jack installed for $50. Times are bad and telephone guys and satellite tv guys are competing for work... Or, if you are using an internet based phone, Telebouncer needs to be connected to your telephone adapter. (Ex.: Vonage, MajicJack etc.)

***Look on eBay or Amazon for a TeleBouncer. Sometimes they go used for under $40. There is no way I can make money off somebody buying these machines (1) used, (2)sold by random sellers. I only want to share a success story.
Until now, I was hounded to death by' RoboCallers.'

= I GOT MY LIFE BACK!!!

Call came from New York City to Kansas at 18:26 hours CDTon 3-19-12. Call not answered and no message left. Most all posters on other sites find bland air if they pick up, and even if they call the number, are advised the number has been disconnect. In light of all that. suspect robo calls to record a number that picks up.... that has a human or answering machine.

Caller ID said "New York        NY."

Got a call from this number tonight. They are running some kind of home security scam.
When I told the lady I was on the "Do Not Call List" she said, "Why don't you just press '9'
like the message said, to get off the list....

"I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST" and I don't have to do anything.  She just hung up.

Unfortunately these days the No Call List is a joke, it is so obsolete, these guys out there will get your number and call it over and over no matter how much we complain, and no matter how many people post to these types of complaint links.  You have to outsmart them just for your own sanity.  I do not have a SMART PHONE that I know has apps out there on the web to block these sorts of calls, I have a simple flip phone with a keyboard from Verizon.  Each time I start to receive numerous calls from the same number that is obviously a SPAM sort of call, first I go to a website like this and see what is being posted in regards to the number, then I add it to my contacts list under the name SPAM, then change the ring tone for that contact as a "NO RING" I just continue to add numbers to this contact entry until it is full, then start a new contact entry naming it SPAM 1, etc. etc. Now when I receive a repeated call from any of the numbers I have added to any of those Contact name I do not hear it RING and periodically I review the calls that have come in from any of those numbers due to you have a record of it now if needed to show the annoying calls just in case they do come up with a way of catching up with these JERKS out there.   Also after a while the calls will stop from a specific number and you can delete it from the Contact list, due to you will have plenty to replace it with, believe me......these calls are only going to get worst, due to they have their ways of getting through. A lot of times if you do answer it or call them back then they actually have a record of a real number and a name, the SUCKER list as it is called, and they sell it to other companies and crooks worldwide.  The original calls are just random dials "PHANTOM DIALING" from streaming random numbers. Too bad all this great technology out there it is being used more in negative ways instead of positive...Crooks...they're everywhere, they're everywhere....just makes you sick that it has got so out of control....

We get "Rachael" from Card Services every month.  With varying phone numbers, no way for us to block them all, and we are on the no-call list.

Got a call today from 212-777-3436. Answered and got a recording stating something the FBI and that there were a lot of home invasions so I quickly figured they would be trying to sell me some type of security system and I just hung up. This kind of nonsense goes on all the time and it is very annoying. I can't believe anyone would be gullible enough to buy something from these shysters. Maybe the feds could use some of our tax dollars to put a stop this foolishness.

I got a call from 212-777-3436 and they left a message on my answering machine. It was a guy with a very foreign accent telling me he was calling from Publishers Clearing House  and something about me winning a certified check (he was very hard to understand) and I should call a certain number to claim it. Needless to say I didn't call the number.

One other thing - does anybody know a single person or business that has been prosecuted since the no call law went into effect.?  I don't think the government is doing a darn thing to stop these annoying calls !!

I agree...I registered the do not call list...doesn't work at all....and it does seem to me I am getting more calls than ever. I had to purchase a more advanced type phone that has a call block feature. Unfortunately it only blocks 25 numbers and it's at capacity currently. I will continue to look for other phone equipment that can block more calls. That do not call registry is a joke. The ones that bother me are the ones that there is silence for many seconds and disconnets. Try to call the number back and get a vague recording...drives me crazy that I can never get ahold of a person and tell them to never call back...not having much luck with that at all.

The same as everyone else, hung up, no message. I'm in CA. I just blocked the number with my handy-dandy *60 service. For landlines from AT&T with a bundle plan of services you hardly ever use, you can block up to ten numbers.

I answered to see what and who, well I said "hello" several times but heard no noise whatsoever?? What's their point, are they gathering data to see who will answer, and those who dont? Is their auto dialer broke and randomly dialing numbers? They are only giving me a better reason to never pick up the phone unless I know who it is, of which 99.99999999% of the time I do. This time my curosity got the best of me.

I love caller ID, theses people need to find better crap to do then disturb harding working people when there trying to relax at home. I hope they find these people and put them in jail, maybe then they would learn to get a real job instead of trying to scam people.

I just check these phone numbers on the internet, then I add them to my phone's CONTACT LIST labeled SPAM.
If you can't add a number after SPAM, just add another 'm' to SPAMm .
When they call you back you won't have to check the number to see if it's  'legit'.

I never answer calls from numbers that arent' on my Contact List.

I'm in North Idaho above Coeur d' Alene and get loads of these stupid calls.
I went broke two Octobers ago and was deluged by  Collectors' Calling.
Now it's telemarketers because I filled out some forms to make money filling out surveys for money or coupons or free food.
I'm am now inundated with SPAM EMAILS. Far too many to 'unsubscribe' from individually and the amount of them continues to grow each day. About 30 or more each day.
PCH Publishers Clearing House is one of the worst for getting SPAM and you will most certainly NEVER win anything from them.
