got a call today, the guy sounds like he has an African accent. He wanted me to order a very large number of expensive products for him. He said he would give me a credit card number over the phone. I told him I cannot take the number over the phone, he must come here in person before I will even think about placing such a large order. He hung up.

Just got a call from this number. I own a Liquor store and the fellow on the other side wanted to order a case of Crystal, $300 a bottle, thats $3600.  He wants me to ship to Los Angeles, from Minnesota.  The whole time, he keeps reminding me he wants to pay with his Credit Card.  So, I get it, this guy is up to something.  So I played a long, he now wants to order 4 cases of Crystal, okay, again he reminded me he wants to pay with his Credit card.  So I said okay give me your credit card number, of course I holding back a lot, cause I know this idiot probably stole someones CC, probably from Target.  Then, i said you know what, I forgot, our policy is not to take CC info over the phone, so why don't you come in and pay for it.  I'll hold your champagne for you.  He hung up!!  No s***, huh.  Watch out peeps, not just residence but also Businesses!!

Here's a turn of events, received one message from this # stating "Hello Michael, this is Chase Bank regarding your recent loan application...and you have been qualified for personal loan" please call etc.  
Just an hour later same message & again 30 min later.  Jeesh this is crazy.
Dennis also called regarding my 'online loan application' right after.   LOTS of background noise like a radio or TV.
What more can be done about this??

Looks like these people are back at it again.

Called and  asked if I remember speaking with them regarding lowering my mortgage payments 10 days ago.
The person sounds exactly like a person who called me last week  about helping me with taxes.

I need help with neither, as I don't even have a mortgage!

Multiple calls from this number, first saying to call back at 1-855-488-1201, second saying to call back at this number.  First voicemail said she was calling from the "offices of Kennedy and Associates", second said she was "Miss Kennedy with the investigative department of Kennedy and Associates".  Using the standard BS that makes it obvious that it is a scam.  "Honest" debt collectors generally just identify themselves with maybe name and generally company and request a call back.  Scammers claim to be with some bogus company, try to make themselves sound like a legal firm, pretend you are under "investigation" - bull.

Marking call as "Debt collector" because "scam" is not an option.

Evidently they have changed phones numbers...now calling from 415-952-3898.  Michelle Brown told me I would be arrested at work today by 4 pm.  Thank everyone for giving names.

Haha, after reading all your messages just for kicks, we should all prank him when he calls. After all I argued with this "Indian Guy" for awhile... And now I see its a complete scam. so when he calls im always going to fake my accent. Just to break even.

Basically I got the same call and same info all others above me got. I have called them back several times from different numbers and chewed some butt. What they didn't realize is my uncle just retired from homeland security and I told him. He is going to get investigations going. These SOB Arabs need to be arrested and put away.

Call the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) helpline at 1-877-382-4357. They are working on bringing these guys down. Let's keep the complaints rolling in and shut these scumbags down.

this most certainly IS a scam. And the Federal Trade Commission is on the case. Anyone who receives a call from these people call the FTC complaint line -immediately. They are not just dishonest- they are BREAKING MANY MANY LAWS.

Its a scam. Nobody will every call you from another state to tell you that you have a warrent for your arrest. You cannot go to jail for not paying a bill. They are trying to get personal information banking, ss# etc. If you have a cell phone, you can block the call very easily.

Received a call a work from a man leaving a message that I or my attorney needed to call him. Don't know who it is,but after the post I have read I beleive this to be a scam as I have never done anything wrong in my life. Have not tried to call back yet, but will report to the Federal Trade Commission and my local police department.

I have been recieving calls from this number also (213-283-8557).But the name that they leave is..*Donny Morrison*..I called back and couldn't get through..all I got was a voicemail saying *MAILBOX* is full sorry!!..I kept calling until I got a answer..A lady with a foriegn voice answered-I asked for *DONNY MORRISON*-she stated he wasn't in the office and that I had to speak to her..well to cut to the chase, I acted like I was an attorney and asked for the client I.D./Case number that she was referring to.and she couldn't give me an answer..she did say this though..that I was a B****...and a C***!!..I told her to stop calling my phone or else I was going to get them for harrassment..and that the calls were being reported & recorded...I've also saved all of the message's sent from them!!!! These people need to get a LIFE!! They've messed with the wrong AMERICAN here!!..They are the ones who are stupid enough to think we will fall for that crap!!!!! So the laugh is on them!! HAHA!!

Hello everyone. I recieved the same call from the same idiot. He called threatening me yesterday and then again this morning he left me a voice mail. He said he was from the Dept. of Legal Affairs and Investigations and it was a time sensitive matter and he needs to hear from me or my attorney regarding a payday loan matter or legal action will be put against me.  I had to listen to the message four times to undertand half of what he was saying. i still dont have a name because i cant understand him. I called this number and several times and it goes to a voice mail and then hangs up. I believe these calls are coming from another country and routed through Los Angeles. They need to be stopped immediatly.

I'm with you on that one. Let's sue them for harrassment and false information.

I would like to report that a male called my place of employment and they have access to social security numbers. I think they are hacking into some internet sites. I attempted to call him back and all I got was a voicemail mailbox that was full. I'm going to call the Better Business Bureau on the company to see what and if the company is legit. I know he better not call back. I don't understand how you are going to contact somebody and ask for lawyer information but you can't give no information of why. It seems very skeptical. Don't confirm or give them any information.

"Dan Morris" at 213-283-8557 called my office phone and left the "good luck" message for one of my employees. I could'nt understand much through his accent, so I called it back and got the full mailbox recording. I would like to introduce him to my dog; as a cheap protein snack.

they have been calling me for 3 years when I took a payday loan. since loan payed and have never taken one again. Calls stopped for a while and they started again today. There should be something we can do. They call my job all the time.

sounds familar. last year I was in need of a small loan and I went to a website .They ask for all this information and you think it's legit.I never took the loan or anything but hat was about the time it happened. They keep calling and asking for someone named Gary Reeves.I don't know anyone by this name and they keep calling.I told them I knew it was a scam and I was going to report them to the state attorney generals office.They get mad and hang up.very hard to understand them.

This person left a message on my cell phone and my work number today, he called himself John Miller.  Stating it was a time sensitive matter and that I should phone them back or it will unfold on me.  I am not calling them back, it is illegal to make this type of statement.  They can not collect on any bill unless they can put it in wirting and submit it to you.  They will not put it into writing because they are not legitimate.  

I started getting these calls because I needed a payday loan.  They somehow have tapped into the system and get your phone numbers.  I suspect that all of us at one time or another have applied for a payday loan or some other loan on the internet.

These are con men.  If you are dumb enough to respond they will continue to phone.  It is called harassment and it is against the law.  No collection agency can call you more than once a day it is the law.  My son works for a collection agency and he has told me.

I believe some people pay because they are frightened and think the call is legitimate and they don't want and problems.  This is how they keep themselves financed.

It is obvious tha a large number of us has received this call, I am a former police officer and come from a police family, not to mention my specialty in the military....have called in some "favors" to get the low-down as it were. The Federal Trade commision is aware of these people, the problem inlies that they are using a "magic jack" to get a phone number that is traced to an ip in India.  Our government can't touch them due to location and international laws.  They get info it is suspected in 2 seperate ways the first is that there are "shady" businesses which offer loans (payday or auto etc) and then sell these people all your info which makes it 100% legal in India also, they have a small number of "super hackers" that can get into your computer without you ever knowing unless you have some SERIOUS firewalls or can match them in skill to know what to look for....an e-bay purchase through paypal gives them nearly all they need to know for instance...social security numbers are actually very easy to obtain if you have the right info to search with.  Bottom line they are in a country where their laws say it is legal and we can't touch them...best advice I can give is change your checking account number or bank entirely.  To give a vague idea of my sources, my last name is genuinely Hoover.

I wish I would have read all these things before I sent these people $800.00 on Tuesday.  Justin Johnson called and left me messages both @ work and on my cell.  Saying I or my attorney of record needed to call or good luck as the situation unfolds on me.  Michelle Brown advised that I was going to be arrested at my place of business that afternoon because of a pay day advance that was never repaid.  I told her I have NEVER taken a pay day advance and she then stated, it was for a draft that repeatedly was returned insufficient funds. I told her that was not possible, she repeated that I was being arrested.  She stated that if I could pay the 798.33 (which included penalties and interest) in 20-30 minutes the case would be dropped.  SHe could not tell me who I owed this money to because she said it would be in the court papers they were waiting for.  I eventually sent her the money following her directions and using WAL-MART money cards, she then said it was too late and that I was still going to be arrested.  She said that the creditor had spent 2000.00 to get this case to court. If I pay the court costs within the hour, the case would go away.  I had good friends telling me from the beginning this was a scam, I was soooo petrified of being arrested @ work, I did not listen.  WOULD NOT listen.  I was an IDIOT and let them take advantage of me.  Please learn from me.

So I kept calling back until someone answered,,someone finally did..someone that I could NOT understand!!-She was very RUDE!!-I asked them for the client I.D./Case number and they just hung up!! There are probably alot more alias too!!..)

Unreal. These are the same people that were making the payday loan scam calls? I thought I got rid of them and then I just got a call from this number today. Didnt answer, but called back and was told I was speaking with the department of legal investigations. Then I asked why they called me and the woman hung up.
