I'm in Human Resources and got the same call.  Tried to call it back to speak to a LIVE person and I was disconnected.  This is solicitation at its finest and yet how do we get a hold of them to ask them to remove us from their phone list?  Very annoyed and will do what I can to send the message ALL the way to the top!  I'm WAY tooooooo busy for phone solicitations!!!!!!!!!!!! So rude!!!

San Diego Sheriff has a bunch of little police officers all looking the same like little mustachioed mexicans and they all want to meet you.
If you were ever to shoot one youd swear he immediately respawned over and over again back to life. Or so he said from his inside shooting range.

The DPS called me saying it has this CIA like organization that is like the SOUTH RISING AGAIN and we are in for a civil war if we ever want our rights back. They do not need to go through federal agencies to share information between states so your rights really mean nothing to the DPOS that uses SAFETY AS A WEAPON and not to save people.

This was a woman disguised as a man which is a secret weapon of the us marines. I asked her if she knew what the thirteen buttons were for on a navy mans pants and she said yes it was to hold up a dinner platter for a marine. This call came from the neighborhood of Rosecrans and Nimitz in San diego.

I can help everyone. I've sued a big corporation for illegal, predatory telemarketing practices for 6 calls made to my home in 2005. I didn't sued them until April of 2007 after finally figuring out that my report to the FCC won't get me any of the money I'm allowed to sue for. The FCC thanked me for my complaint and gave them a citation which is a huge victory. But the FCC cannot sue on behalf of a private citizen.

It's up to us to not only tell them to stop calling, but to use the tools given to us by the FCC to sue them.

If it's the only thing you do, just go to the FCC's website and file a complaint with this number and Nationwide's name or any other name that you found when beeping your way through their awful script. It doesn't take but a few to get the FCC's attention and Jeffrey Tegnor from the FCC sent me a letter of confirmation and thanks.

I was green and it wasn't easy suing Residential, even with all the How To Sue A Telemarketer websites out there. Residential's main man laughed me off, refused to show for court and vowed they would never pay me.

But I persisted and won for 6 calls in small claims court. That's $500 PER CALL for $3,000 plus court costs and over $330 in interest. They refused to pay and my court clerk helped me send them the obligatory subpoena and show cause summonses which they ignored.

Last week I finally paid the sheriff's dept. of Residential's county to walk into its offices, show them my judgment and force them to write me a check. It can be done! But at least turn them into the FCC.

Now, about this phone number. One of the "sponsors" using number 213-416-2888 is Nationwide Insurance. Today I mailed them a 3-page letter explaining in detail each FCC Do Not Call violation they violated that added up to $8,500 for just 3 calls to my home and one in which I called the number back.

Each violation is worth $500 in your pocket if you're willing to put up around $75 to file in small claims. Even my magistrate didn't know a thing about suing a telemarketer until I came into his court. He's a believer now.

Remember, each call automatically chalks up one to several violations each, even if you're not home--such as:

Calling a number on the Do Not Call registry

Failing to keep an updated Do Not Call list monthly as mandated by the FCC

Nationwide's number DID NOT APPEAR with the number

I could not directly call Nationwide BACK IMMEDIATELY using that number

The initial voice recording did not name the telemarketing company or Nationwide in its lengthy script full of BS about it being our fault for taking an online survey or being affiliated with one of the companies who bought old call lists.

Two representatives refused to give me their whole names.

I called the number and beeped my way through until I got a Nationwide rep on the line. That in no way means any of you have agreed to the telemarketing! Just keep hitting options until you get a live rep. Then ask to speak to the manager.

I did that when I called this number last week> And after explaining about the Do Not Call list I asked if they would they send me a copy of its Do Not Call policy (yet another violation if they don't have one) and the manager hung up on me.

I immediately called its corporate number in Columbus I found on line (1-800-882-2822 for general inquiries) and I got some action after the nice man on the other end realized I was serious after I listed about 4 violations I uncovered. I asked him if someone there knew people were getting angry and that they were breaking the law!?

I'm always super nice and respectful, but I let him know that I was writing up paper work to sue Nationwide immediately.

I had to pick up my kids from school and he took my name and number. I actually got a call from them when I was gone and another the next day. Too late. Today I mailed them a letter asking to settle before court for $5,000 or face me in civil court for $8,500 or more and an FCC citation.

Residential Lending got a citation just weeks after I made a formal complaint along with many others. After the first citation the FCC will sue them for $11,000 per violation of each DNC number they used and all the violations I listed above.

Hope that keeps you all motivated to not sit back and think they have the upper hand. You do not have to use the "opt out" option to move forward and get a person on the line and ask for the company's name and address.

I work as a reporter/photojournalist in the news media, PR and advertising and I know BS when I hear and see it and reputable professionals in our business don't stomp people's right to privacy to solicit clients or money.

Keep reporting and supporting each other. I'll try to let you know what I hear from Nationwide--who is not on "my side" this time around.
