I have been receiving calls from a lot of different/odd numbers lately this being one of them.  I have had it, so now I answer my phone by saying "BANNING POLICE DEPARTMENT, HOW MAY I DIRECT YOUR CALL?"  Apparently it's not what they want to hear.  I haven't got any call backs.  Problem solved?  We will see!

Enough already!!! Am registered on the DO NOT CALL list and will not answer your calls, so you might as well save your time for someone else!

cash scam about winning a vacation.. refused to add my number to there "do not call" list. reporting them as well.

thay called me saying that my number was selected to win a gift card and tow tickets to travel with any were in the usa and thay wanted my credit card number for the shiping ...(y do  have to pay for a prize) i told them that i dont have one now thay said try get help from a family mmeber tha has one ...so thay said their gunna call back tommorow ...so im not gunna pick up.

Actually when you register on bueno.com ,they give you free US number and free calls to usa . So there may be case that some one just registered there and trying to disturb you. Most of the time when you register there they will give you series of numbers like 213-550-xxx or something like that. i am sure that unknown caller must be on VOIP

It's a scam. They try to redirect you to fake Google or Wikipedia pages on scam websites to get you to sign up for fake "official internet do not call lists" which just signs you up to receive more scam phonecalls.

I have received 5 calls on my cell phone in the past 2 weeks from different California Area Codes:

All these calls seem to be associated according to reports on this forum and occur in the afternoon or evening. I won't answer unknown calls on my cell, preferring to let the call go to voice mail, where I can screen the caller. No message ever left.

Prior to registering on the CDN CRTC DO NOT CALL list, I never received nuisance calls on my cell. Thanks to a huge loophole in this system, my number is now public. Thank You CRTC.

number 1-212-550-4227 called twice, 1st time i didnt answer and the 2nd time it was an automated message saying "Hi your phone number has been selected to win...blah blah blah press "1" for your promotional... i then hung up.

i registered my home and cell phone numbers with the National Do-Not-Call List months ago.  Whats strange is that before registering i never received these calls on my cell and since then i get them alot.

This number called my number in Toronto Canada. I have no idea who it is and just typed it into google and it came up in 1-800 notes. Last entry i noticed was dec 08 on here. It is Jan 29 09. Concerned this number might be used for something and this is not a telemarketng call if there is just music on the message. The number is 213-550-4227. Why would someone be calling me from there, and on another post here it says its from telus canada. ????

I just got a call from this number, didn't answer it. I texted them back, I haven't gotten a reply as of yet. I went on 411.ca to find out who it was, and found this page. Apparently it's nobody. So, that's good. I thought it was someone that I haven't spoken to in months.

On Telus Mobility as well. Got the call, hit 1, got the goofy music, my brain switched on and my phone switched off.

unknown caller... how did they get my cell#??

I have had this call three times now. I only heard until they tell me to pres '1' to "win", then I hang up. I am sure that if you press '1', your phone bill will have a nice charge on it.

I am on Telus, and I go the first call the same day I signed up for the governments new "DO NOT CALL LIST"
When you sign up for that list, they tell you that you have one month for Telemarketers to update their lists and stop calling.
My on month is not up yet.
I am guessing that the day I signed up, this person got the list and now knows my number. They have one month to 'harass' me until I can report them.
Any truth to this theory?

On Dec. 5/08 I got this call on my cell around 5:45 pm on my way home. I was driving so didn't answer but I called back when I was home and got strange music too.

Just got a call from 213-550-4227 and I didn't recognize the number, so I didn't answer.  They didn't leave any message.

I pressed 1 and I was on hold for a moment then connected with an American woman who said they were giving away $2,600.00 travel dollars today. I told her I was not interested and she hung up. (Maybe I should have said yes and then gone to mexico?)

Got a call from this number at 10:30am while at work. No message was left. Then again at 2:30pm. I suspect that if a friend has an iphone and you're in their address book, or you have one yourself, your at risk of getting spam calls. Might be the same with Blackberry's.
