I have been getting calls, at home and work, from "U.S. National Bank" on and off for months. Last time was a couple of months ago and I got them to stop by saying they'd need to talk to my attorney or I'd see them in court....but then they called again today! The most recent name and number was Sam Dunkin at 1-480-282-6892; reverse lookup indicated this as a land line in Mesa, AZ under the name of "All State Telephones".

They guy had no accent but didn't really get past 'hello' with me.  LOL... If you take 15sec to respond and decide what you want you get hung up on.  SMH... People have nothing better to do than tie up the time of others.

Keep getting calls from 214-245-0943 at my work from a "Bobbie Werner" with US National Bank, saying that it is really important.
Next time I am going to tell him that I know he works for a scam and to never call me again!

Someone called our office & asked to speak to our owner by name.  I told him he was in the Warehouse working.  He said for me to page him.  I told him I could not page him & he said very rudely for me to page him.  I told him again very firm I cannot page him & then he hung him on me.  They have called several times & even when I tell them he is not here.  They say they will hold and then I tell them again that he is not here.  They hang up on me.

Got a call from "Greg" with an American accent asking for the owner of the company.  When I stated he wasn't available.  "I'll hold" was the answer.  Really... finally hung up on him.  Connection was so bad and if I have to drag simple info out of you like your name and why your calling, you don't need to be calling.

Update:

A consumer posting a complaint about these same scammers at http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-831-7157 notes that 718-831-7157 is associated with an India-based "outsourcing" telephone bank.  Though a reverse search on WhitePages.com shows that 718-831-7157 is an unlisted land line in New York City, information on Debtbuyers.Com shows that that number is used by India-based Intellisourze. (Source: http://www.debtbuyers.com/debtbuyers.asp ) My guess is that it's a VoIP phone number.

This is another piece of the puzzle that fits in perfectly with other information about this scam. There are some reports on 800Notes that have suggested that the crooks behind this offshore scam are also the crooks behind the notorious Bass/Ellis Crosby & Assoc./States Predisposition scams in Florida and Georgia. The interesting thing is that the number of complaints on here about the US National Bank/US Legal Investigation/Federal Investigation scam skyrocketed *after* April 7, 2008 when Florida obtained a $1.3 million judgment against Ted Ellis Crosby, shutdown his operations and barred him from ever conducting debt collections in Florida (Read http://myfloridalegal.com/newsrel.nsf/newsrel ... 5257424005858A6 ) There's certainly a good chance that the crooks placing these calls from India are doing so on behalf of the American crooks behind the Crosby/Bass/States Predisposition scams.

Here's the contact information for the phone bank in India:

IntellisOurzE BPO
701, Sapphier, Nr. Cargo Motors,
C.G. Road Navrangpura,
Ahmedabad - 9. (Guj.) INDIA.
E-Mail: info@intellisourze.com
Website: www.intellisourze.com

A check on the domain name "intellisourze.com" shows that the website and name registration was created on May 8, just one month *after* the Crosby scams were shut down in Florida:

Domain Name: INTELLISOURZE.COM
Registrant:  Pragra Infratech Pvt. Limited.
Email:  ankur.ranpariya@pragra.com
908, Aksaht Tower, Nr. ICICI Bank
Opp. Rajpath Club, S.G. Highway
Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India 380054
Tel. +91.7926871353
Creation Date: 08-May-2008
Expiration Date: 08-May-2009
Domain servers in listed order: ns5.znetindia.com ns4.znetindia.com
(Source: http://whois.domaintools.com/intellisourze.com )

Though scam calls from these crooks have been going on long before May 8, the frequency of complaints about these calls increased considerably after Crosby was shut down in early April.

This is conjecture, but appearances suggest that Crosby and company were originally running a two-pronged payday loan scam operation -- with some calls being made from Jacksonville, Florida and other calls being made from a phone bank in India (and possibly other countries); then, after the Florida Attorney General shut down the Crosby scams in Florida, the Crosby crooks transferred most of their scam efforts to the India phone bank.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):

1) The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.

2) Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov  Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone who are posing as federal law enforcement. Be sure to give as many details as you can.

3) File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.

4) File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.naag.org

5) File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

I have recieved the calls as well.  They have my Cell number for my number, so I saved it in my phone and used "No ring" for the ring tone, and I never know they call anymore.  Just a little helpful hint.  However, they do still have the work phone and call there sometimes.

I just received a call from this number again at work. I answered the phone and recognized his voice so I hung up on him. He called back twice and left a message. He said "you just hung up on me, you don't know who the hell I am. You just wait until tomorrow morning you will be sorry." He then read off my SSN and my place of employment. He read it in such a manner that you can tell he was reading from a script. He also said you just wait, I'm going to call your manager right now. Why can't they just leave me alone?

I keep getting pestering calls from the same Indian accent dude(s) looking for someone named Rick Webb (not my name) just about daily.  I googled it real quick and saw that it was a scam and tried to play along with them just to mess with them back and they just ended up hanging up on me.  I would then call them back and demand to know who they are, telling them that I am Rick Webb of course, and they threatened me with arrest at my place of work, etc.  Total scam!! I ended up telling them that I knew it was a scam and that I was reporting them to the authorities so we'll se if they keep calling.  Jerks.

I got a calls from this same exact number a couple weeks ago and it scared the mess otu of me, no I do not want to be arrested at my job and it did sound kind of strange that it was happening.  The thing that got me is that when you call the number back they just say hello instead of saying the name of the business, the name they told me for the company was IBM based in Palm Coast , FL.  should I just ignore this or follow through with the payments.

I've received several calls from 214-245-0943. Caller was male, with an Indian accent. Stated he didn't know what happened to me, and I would be facing an embarrassing situation if I didn't handle this legal matter immediately. This person calls my work number at least 3 times a day leaving the same message. He never directly said that I'd be arrested. He didn't state where he was calling from or who he represents. That's why I thought to look up this number and see if it is a scam. Looks like I'm not the only one targeted. It does seem odd someone would call threatening legal action if I didn't return their phone call.

I've recieve this same call at my place of employment there's Kevin, and Don Rogers all have that same accent can't   understand them. They told me there company's name was FCD Finicial Crime Division. Things started feeling really fishy with me because in 05 I did recieve a payday advance I paid all my fee's and I've called to verifity with the company as well.    The company stated you owe us nothing. So this Kevin call's me harrassing me to pay this down payment. My concerns was what am I paying for which they don't give you the information. So this morning I got up looked up FCD and this came up with Secret Services so of course I got scared and then I call Our local office and spoke to one of the field officers I explained every thing and he stated this is not us calling you we aren't coming to your job he stated it seems like scam so after that conversation I call this attoney and spoke to Laura she look the phone up for me and I saw were not just me but alot of people are being scam. How are they getting our information. I also reported this to my local police department and they stated if you recieve the call again don't say anything just hang up the phone and continue to do that until they see they don't have a fool don't lead into anything hang up. After several of these call they will move unto some one else.

That's precisely what these crooks are trying to do -- scare you into giving them your money.  So don't be scared.  The best course of action is ignoring their ridiculous false threats and reporting them to the federal and state law enforcement officials listed in my message above. I'm sure your attorney would agree. (By the way, that moronic "call us or suffer what is soon to fall upon you" line is very typical of this crooked operation; they use similar lines that that all time. Another such line they use is "call us back or only God can save you from what is about to happen." lol! These foreign criminals apparently have seen way too many old, melodramatic movies and think people in America talk that way.)

If these crooks call you again, tell them that they are not getting any money from you, that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement.

And for your information, see my message below with 800Notes.com links to other reports about these very same group of criminals.

Many of these kind of scam calls come from outside the United States. That's why it's important to report them to the Secret Service, the FBI and the other law enforcement agencies listed in my message above from May 16.

File reports every time the scammers call you. And try telling them that you know they're a criminal scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement.

The main thing to remember is that these crooks aren't arresting anyone. They're not even in America and, even if they were, debt collectors can't arrest anyone for anything and law enforcement officers aren't in the business of debt collections.  There's nothing to be scared about; annoyed, yes, but not scared. Just ignore their ridiculous threats and report them to law enforcement.

Got called back again. Three times in one day. Can't someone do something or locate these people? Threatening to have you arrested at work is very scary. And once again, they never tell you who they are with or give you an address. Who would pay something over the phone without proof of debt? However some would because they scare the heck out of you by saying they are charging you with fraud and they have an email address on me.

Caller said his name was either John or Don Rogers and to call him at his direct humber which is above. Said to not ignore this call. If I did, he said to wish me luck for all the bad things that will fall upon me. He has an Indian accent. However, this is not the first person to call me. I've had a woman call and another man. Don't have their names with me right now.

As you probably already guessed, it's a scam. There is no US National Bank and, most likely, this is the same group of foreign scammers who use caller ID spoofing software or VoIP to disguise where they're really located.  One thing it remember is that anytime someone calls you demanding money to prevent your arrest, it is ALWAYS a scam. No debt collector (let alone criminals posing as debt collectors) have the authority to have anyone arrested for anything. (And it's illegal to them to threaten such a thing.) These scammers also routinely impersonate FBI agents, police and other law enforcement officials, which, obviously, is illegal as well. (Besides, law enforcement officers aren't in the business of debt collection.)

The bottom line is, these are criminals trying to steal your money.

You and your boss have done the right thing by telling them not to call again. In addition to that, I suggest you do all of the following (most of which you do online):

2) Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov  Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone and give them all the details.

3) File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.

4) These criminals used a Texas phone number to call you, so file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General at http://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/complain.shtml

5) File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.naag.org

6) File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

Hope this helps.
