And the calls continue! I contacted our telephone service provider who recommended that I file a complaint with the donotcall.gov registry, and I suggest you all do the same. Together we can stop these people, and they will be levied with a hefty fine - exactly what they deserve.

Forgot to say that I experience the identical scenario you describe. Silence on the other end of the line. Bizarre!

I reside in the Philly region also. My sentiment is the same as yours. This situation is extremely annoying and frustrating. I placed the phone number on our call-block list, but alas these crooks have discovered a way around that.

Have received calls from this number several times in the last few weeks.  When I answer, no one responds so I hang-up.  Most of the calls seem to come around mid-day.

They called for the 4th time in 4 days. I picked up and said "Hello," about a 2 second delay whe n some woman asked for my mom (who is deceased). I responded "get this number off your list!" She starts to cut me off by trying to confirm my number...I didnt say anything except to "remove the number now." This woman continues to throw me attitude until I simply said "f- off!" and hung up.

Its been a bad day, so they picked the wrong time to mess with me. Just insanely sick of of these d*mn callers!

This number identified as "215-795-3620 Perkasie, PA" has come in on my hone any number of times over the last year.  I can't understand why because I've placed this number on the "Do Not Call List."  Once or twice I picked up the call when it came in, but no one responds to my "hello."  There is just silence as if there is someone on the other end listening.  Just last night the call came in again.  I accidently picked up because I forgot to look in the viewfinder.  I said hello, but there was no response, so I hung up.  No sooner had I hung up the phone did the call come in again as reflected in my phone's viewfinder.  It rung only once.  I did not pick up, nor did I call the number.  Google lists the number as a landline from a company identified as Core Communications.
Thanks for this info.

God, that sickens me! They called again yesterday and again about  one hour ago, what is deceiving for me is that its a 215 area code, Langhorne, PA. That is about 10 miles from me. These pigs make it look like its coming from a local number - tricking a person in the same area code to pick it up thinking it MIGHT be a friend or target a Philly area elderly man or woman to shell out some cash for kids with Cancer.. Disgusting!

Thanks again.

Second call from them. OUT OF AREA 215-795-3620. I called back. The woman said it was the Children's Cancer Dream Network. There is no listing for such an organization on Charity Navigator. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS SCAM.

This is from a Boston.com article:
http://www.boston.com/business/personalfinanc ... ildrens_ch.html

The Better Business Bureau issued a warning to consumers about a group of children's charities that funnel only a small percentage of donations to the causes they're supporting.

An investigation by BBB said the charities, which solicit nationally, used professional fundraisers to raise cash that gave less than 20 cents on the dollar - some as little as 1 penny per dollar donated - to the actual cause.

The charities used as examples by the BBB in St. Louis, where a direct-mail marketer is located, include Kids Wish Network, Children's Cancer Fund of America, Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation, National Cancer Assistance Foundation -- which operates Children?s Cancer Dream Network, Children?s Cancer Assistance Fund and Breast Cancer Assistance Fund.

The most extreme case the BBB investigation found was for the Children?s Cancer Dream Network, which is part of the National Cancer Assistance Foundation. The charity reported raising $1.2 million in 2010 and spending $15,600 directly on cancer patients and their families.

"It's a sad reality that there are children?s charities that feel they have to contract with expensive outside fundraisers to bring in money,? Jim Judge, the BBB's director of charity review said. ?Profit-making fundraising companies sometimes take $8, $9 or more from every $10 donation, leaving the charities with pennies.?
