This is obviously still going on so I called it and I'll tell you what it is. This is a "Water Test" so they can tell you you're getting bad water and need a purification system. They then sign you up for a purification system from Home Depot and Home Depot blows you up asking when they are supposed to come out and put your water system in. This is based on public record because there was a discrepancy with my purchase price because someone read an 8 as a 6, so I know when they call and say you got your home for $267,000 I know it's bad info from a telemarketer.
All in all, they'll give you a $10 off coupon for McDonalds or something there is no house warming present unless you consider a $1200 water system for $1150 a present, I've been avoiding them since they started this...

Purchasing a home is public record. Your names, address and purchase price are considered public record. You will get more of these. Sometimes they are from "insurance" companies who wish to sell you additional policies sometimes they are from these people.
I have received one post card a year from "Mrs. Burke" for three years. Just throw them away. There isn't anything you can do about it.
JLR 2011-06-06 20:43:44 Unknown
Aha! We too purchased our home through Howard Hanna. I am going to call our agent.

me 2011-06-06 20:43:44 Unknown
I receive the same thing, right down to the "mrs burke". I'm a new homeowner as well (Strongsville). Glad I looked it up - won't call back now!
Deceptive Scheme 2011-06-06 20:43:43 Unknown
I received the card today. It is disguised as something that a collector would issue. Even the hours to call would be consistant with a collection agency. And the "Mrs. Burke" thing tops it off.
I called and found out what it was about. I told them I didn't approved of their deceptive sales scheme. I'm going to file a complaint somewhere... likely the BBB. I did find a listing for "Great Lakes Water Treatment" in Cleveland... seems like it's the same one. Anyone else post more info if you have it.

Received the card in the mail telling me to call one of two numbers, and ask for Mrs. Burke. Thought I'd look it up online before calling with caller-id blocked.
Mr Cool 2010-11-11 23:45:42 Unknown
Its Great Lakes Water Treatment, I googled them...This is what they do... "We Take the Worry Out of Water., Since 1953, Problem-Solving Systems for Chlorine,, The Strongest, Factory-Backed Warranty, In the Industry"... I also found their website http://www.rainsoft.com/ ....Im guessing they find you after you buy a new home and try to sell you their product...
RPC 2010-06-28 23:47:12 Unknown
We just bought a house <1 month ago, this showed up. Great Lakes Water Company is a Trade Name registered with the state of Ohio:
http://www2.sos.state.oh.us/pls/portal/PORTAL ... _values=1232703
Given that Great Lakes Water Company and Great Lakes Water Treatment are registered separately to two different individuals, I am not sure they are related.
When i called to inquire the company address, I was met with an insistence that i disclose my identity and the purpose of my call.
We purchased through an independent Regal Realty Realtor. It appears they are using a recent sales aggregate to find new homeowners (Remember, property transfer records are considered public record.)
