You're kidding? You think the call was from the Libertyville PD? That was a boiler room call. Don't know the number, hang up. Screen your calls. A real caller with a real reason will leave a message.

When I answered, I just got music playing.. I didn't say anything after and the call finally disconnected.

years ago the FOP asked for a donation in return they will give me a sticker , i said no.   their response was do we have to take you for a walk around the block.  i asked for their names and address and they refused saying its confidential.    these people have balls the size of watermelons.  .

Someone from 224-513-4483 called said he was from the Jaycees.  I hung up.

No idea who this is but called three times today, twice within 2 minutes at about 7:15 pm

I got call from this idiot and i told house owner is at home, can i take message, then he hang up.

This number still calls frequently even though they're too stupid to realize it's been blocked since my last post above in Dec., 2011. Good luck trying to reach me who ever you are.

Thanks for letting me know that there is someone actually on the line. Since they don't leave messages, I figured it was a phone bot calling. I'll have my coach's whistle ready for them on their next call.

The best thing to do is not to pick up your phone if you don't know who it is. Let them just keep wasting there time trying to call people.

Got another one of these today.  Don't know who it is and wish they would stop.

If they really are the police they would know it's illegal to put anything in a mailbox. Only the post office can put mail in a mailbox and the resident can put stamped mail in to be picked up, that's it. These guys can get abusive and try to make it sound like you are wanted for something. The AG should be doing something about these guys.

This number claimed to represent a fund to help disabled firefighters. They would not disclose the organization, in Illinois there are no private funds of this type to aid firefighters. When asked for their tax ID information for their charity, they could not provide the information. I believe this number is nothing more than people attempting to run scams.

I've been getting these calls from them for a while now.  Not sure of who it is cuz they never leave a message.  I'm not going to answer if I don't recognize the number so you better leave a message or better yet,  don't bother us with these calls.

Claimed to be representing the Illinois Vietnam Veterans. Refused to tell me anything about the charity unless I gave them a "Confirmed pledge" first. Also refused to mail me anything about them or give me the percentage they keep for overhead.

Funny... they change their police affiliation with whatever town they are calling (not funny).  Last year the caller said they would be in my area about 9:00 p.m. and to make it convenient for me, they could pick up a check from my mailbox.  "Why thank you so kindly officer!  Should I just leave the amount blank and you can fill it in?"    I blocked the number for whatever good it will do.  Our PD says that they do NOT solicit by phone.  When I challenged the authenticity of the association once, they said it was for a fund for the widows, children and puppies that weren't cute enough to be adopted.  And yes, they can be abusive and try to be controlling.  Hanging up is the best control I have found!

I answered it.  It was another call by someone who said he represented some Libertyville police department project for youth and wanted a contribution, using my credit card.  I don't even LIVE there.  I wish the Illinois attorney general would prohibit police departments from soliciting, and make it clear that anyone asking for charitable contributions for the police should be REPORTED to the police.  Some of these guys get downright abusive.
