Caller claimed he represented HSBC who takes care of one of my credit cards. Told him that I wasn't interested in either selling anything to me or anything else. He just hung up. Checked the # Called HSBC and was told that no one was calling from their org. So this seems to be some kind of scam. Now reported to HSBC bank.

Said they were calling from my husband's credit card and replied that is was not an automated call. I thought it was odd that HSBC would not talk to me - an authorized name on the same card - so I hung up. It just did not settle well with me, so I looked up the number via the Internet.

He called our house the other day looking for my son and when i told him he was out of town, he did not offer to leave his name. So I came on the internet and googled his phone number and to my surprise. I want to how the phone companies let obviously fake companies get numbers. It must be about the $$$.

I've gotten two calls from this number to my cell phone. Since I didnt know who it was I simply said I "wasnt available" when the person asked for me. Is it really a scam? How can this person/company be reported?
ronda 2011-06-06 20:44:06 Unknown
called at 10:17 am ask for ronda, replied yes this is ronda then he said thank you for your time and hung up

We, too, got a call from this number asking for my husband. When I asked what they wanted, the guy said he'd call back later. I told him if he wasn't willing to speak to me, an authorized user, then not to bother calling back.
After reading some of your comments, I then tried to call the number back and got a recording that it was HSBC, and if there was a question about the account, to contact the number on the back of the card.
Must be these scammers got caught!!!
Judith 2011-06-06 20:44:06 Unknown
I don't think they've been caught yet. I just received a phone call today, Feb. 13th. I previously received calls twice on Feb. 11th, and once on the 12th. In each case, the caller (male) is asking for my husband and refuses to give any other information. When asked what the call is in reference to, he dodges the question, only stating that he'll "call back" while hurriedly trying to end the call.
I hope he does call back tomorrow so that I can tell him that his telephone number has been reported to the telephone company and a complaint filed with the National "Do Not Call" Registry!

This number has shown up on my missed calls list every day for the past few weeks. I happened to be home one day and answered the phone and he said he was calling regarding my credit card from Furniture Row. I told him I didn't have time to talk right now and he said he'd call back at a more convenient time. I noticed that there is another number now showing up from HSBC 201-373-8349. Does anyone know who to contact to report this?
Greene 2011-06-06 20:44:06 Unknown
It's definately HSBC and I'll be closing my accounts because they always call and never leave messages and hang up on me when I do pick up and say hi. I'm on the NO Call list, but they can get around that because I do business with them...but not after April 2008...I also suggest anyone who has accounts to close them because if enough people do then they may change their telemarketing practices. They also use the following numbers: 201-257-4535, 201-257-4537, 231-732-2865, 231-732-2866, 240-389-6635, 249-389-6635, 571-283-6424, 616-597-4101, 616-980-2537, 616-980-2085. If anyone knows other numbers, please list so we all will know.

this number called me last night at 7:00pm (CST) and didn't leave a message. I called the number back and got a machine stating "Hi, you have reached the Hicky's."

All calls generated by HSBC are automated, that includes dialup, answering by and giving human-like responses or information. Multiple calls from multiple numbers are received daily. None of the calls are generated and administered by an actual person. What apears to be a conversation with a real person is a sophisticated machine call. It doesn't work though since the operation requires a few seconds to compute your voice and answer. pretty dumb artificial intel.
Bogus technology used to violate others privacy without compensation, amoral business practice.
HSBC, Sony Financial Services and other representatives or affiliates are soliciting for credit protection plans.
Ridiculous how business applies IT, a waste of talent and money. Their executives and software engineers should be spending their time being more productive and stop the harrassment. How would others feel if all corporations decided to have a field day with everyones phone or email?
Spam, up yours.

I received a call about 8:58pm est from (240)389-6635. The man asked for me by name and when I said "this is" the line went silent, not like he hung up, just silent. When I dialed the number back about 1/2 hour later I got a message that said "Hi you've reached so and so and the kids, please leave a message". WHAT! I called HSBC - the number on the back of my card and reported the incident.
I am not in collection and ALL of my cards are paid current with none over the limit.
In order to avoid any unwanted identity theft I enrolled in a protection plan. For a few bucks a month all of my accounts are covered in case of identity theft. This person was not a telemarketer. I almost think that he was phishing. I am not playing games with these people. They are not getting my information. Trust no one. Good luck.

open call, nobody on the other end, I owe no-one anything. Anybody want to go class action against these rude cowards?

I forgot to mention that I am not even an HSBC Customer and have no business dealings with them and have no debts in collection.
All the below calls are from either HSBC Customer Service or HSBC Card Services. All calls were same in nature: No one on phone. When you call the number back you are given two choices. 1 - if you're an HSBC Customer you are told to call the number on the back of your card. 2 - if you wish to remove your number from their records.
I am sick and tired of these people and vow to hunt them down, smoke them out and get them running. Please post your follow up here.

Called and asked to speak to my husband (called him by his legal first name). When I told the guy that he was not here, the guy said "Oh, ok, well, actually there's no message. Thank you."-- and then he hung up.

patti 2007-10-25 23:02:11 Unknown
When I look at my caller ID it shows they call at least 3 times a day. Some show up with different phone #'s, same company. I answered tonight. They asked for me by name and then I couldnt tell if it was a real person or recording because they started talking and wouldnt respond to me. They wanted to sell some kind of insurance. I have gone so many years with no telemarketing calls and now this company is non stop trying to sell some kind of insurance
