Criminals, criminal everywhere...

this is a scam and they always call my land line

This number has just come up on my phone screen. Long distance - I don't answer and wait for a message and no message is left. I wish to report it. I'm located in Montreal, Quebec.

Stopped these jerks from calling people! the # 250 962 7716, enough of these scammers

Four times asked, four different answers
Then told them I was a City Police Officer and that I was recording the call
All I heard was "Oh S***" and they hung up.

Just called my home. I pressed 1 so that I could speak to a "service rep". Once on the line, I asked to removed from their call list, was told I had to press 2. I then asked for their phone number so I could phone back to be removed, she gave me Bank of Montreal's credit card phone number line. Funny, she offered to lower my rates on my Visa and MasterCard but then gives me the number for BMO, whom I'm sure only deal with MC.

This number has just come up on my phone screen...I don't answer and wait for a message and no message is left. Very annoying as most of our calls are this type. What can we do about it?

I receive calls from 1-250-962-7716 almost everyday at around the same time between 6 and 7 pm
no one ever speaks so I just hang up,but this is very annoying.

Well, they called during Judge Judy on TV, so that put me in a bad mood, but I made up for it by giving them my credit card numbers, birthdate, SIN, and PINs, so they were happy and wanted to know if I was interested in drugs and porn!  What a great day and a great country. All the great people at the CRTC who administer the DNC list are checking their indexed pension values with health benefits and not following up on complaints. Maybe these scammers work in Government and it was a slow day?

File a complaint with the Do Not Call list...Crtc to follow up an investigate them..I did...it`s time we sick the dogs on them...

Same problem...told them I didn`t have a credit card tried to ask questions and hung up in my ear....I filed a complaint with the CRTC of Canada...Also tried to phone them back..number not in service....F-ing scammers...sick of them!!!!!!!!!

They called me just now in PEI.  I asked for their address so I could send them something.   She hung up.

Just submitted a formal complaint to CRTC and hope they'll follow up....

Just called me and I spoke with someone with and Indian or Pakistani accent said they can lower my visa and MasterCard...I told them I didn't have any credit cards and I tried to ask them why or how they would call me about something I didn't have and they hung up in my ear....total scammers

Let me just add to your statement the fact that the "card services" scammer's success can be attributed to their taking advantage of the elderly and the gullible as their main targets.The word of this scam must be spread to these groups of vulnerable people.The "card services" telemarket scammers are mainly drug addicts, trying to cheat people in order to pay for their disgusting habit. They have no morals!

They sure will, and by using all different spoofed (false) numbers. BEWARE, they are out to cheat anyone they can!!!  These people are drug addicts trying to scam people, in order to support their habit by getting credit card numbers.

You're right, wasting their time is the best method to get your number off their robodialer list. I started doing that months ago and haven't had a call from the "card services" scammers since. You need to waste their time to the ultimate a few times and you will never hear from them again. If you're interested, simply Google my name to see the method I used---it's fun!

Received the same call from the above number at 4:35pm today with an automated voice. I don't even own a credit card and I'm on the DO NOT CALL list.  I checked the number and it's not in service, very frustrating!

One tactic for dealing with these people is, whenever they call, say; "WOW! That sounds great! Can you hold on a moment?" and then put the phone down and see how long they wait. Leave it on speaker phone so you can hear their frustration. I think it's great to waste their time if they think they can waste mine.

Hopefully I have succeeded in adding this number to my "blocked calls" service provided by Shaw.  Thanks to all that posted to let me know that it is a scam call because I did not answer it.

Right the old variation of Rachel at Cardholder Services Scam. Weren't these people supposed to be shut down? I guess not when you line the pockets of politicians with more money than the paltry fines they give you. Yeah don't bother reporting it to DNCR they will say they can't trace the number (spoofed) even though journalists have succeeded in doing it. Hell they got your number from the DNCR. It is a list of valid phone numbers of people who are likely to pick up their phones because they think they are protected from telemarketers. In case you don't know how the scam works. They tell you they can lower your credit card debt. Something only your credit card issuer can do. Of course they don't even know what credit card you have or if you even have a debt. So they ask your for the credit card number. Then they call the credit card company and ask them to lower your debt (something you could do yourself) and of course they are denied and they charge your credit card thousands of dollars for doing that. Why doesn't 800notes.com have a FRAUD section under Call Type because that is what this is.
