Realistically Zones is a resource for businesses.  They represent the manufacturers of the products you buy. That being said if you don't like your assigned representative you should contact their manager and have him/her match you with someone you can work with. Ask for the business you want. Zones employees are trained to find out what's important to you. How you use your rep is up to you. However it is counter productive to have them call all day without you letting them know what your needs are. Come on guys :)

This number has called me over and over again with no message left. So I decided to google the number and thank goodness I did, it brought me to this sight. It looks like Zones, I have heard of them before but never used them as I have always heard that they are way overpriced and have terrible service.

I am glad I figured this out before I answered the phone now I can just stick them on the block list prior to them getting in..... Last thing I need is another vendor beating down my door pitching great service over price.

These people harass way to much we will never do business with them. We have asked to be put on the do not call list several times and they just keep calling back.

We already have an IT vendor and we dont need some second rate harassing reseller calling over and over trying to get business they will never get. I am not even sure how this place stays in business I looked on their website and their prices seem high compared to tiger direct or new egg.

Stop having your telemarketers call us Zones.

I am an IT professional who has worked with some of the most powerful and complex computers in the world.  My experience spans 20 years and I have done everything from repairing computers (component level on laptops all the way to malware removal).  With that said, I have had an opportunity to work with some of the best and worst in computer systems and manufacturers.  I can easily tell you that Dell is one of those manufacturers who have managed to stay in my top of the list for personal computers and business systems.  Zones does have an issue with selling Dell products and down-talking them, and it is simply because they cannot get high commission off of those products.  Dell will sell their products for far less and make much higher profits through their direct sales channels and other VARs such as Newegg and CDW.  Your understanding of the quality of Dell's products is completely uninformed.  You were given a bunch of propaganda during your relatively short training period at Zones and were told to say certain things about Dell that just isn't true.  To be honest, I would rely on a Dell product over HP, Lenovo, Sony or Acer any day of the week.

Truth be told that Lenovo's reputation for high quality desktops and laptops is quickly eroding due to their constant deviation from IBM's original designs, and HP laptops always have and always will have serious cooling problems that result in GPU failure on the motherboards.. This is a known FACT.  Sony uses foxconn motherboards which are garbage, and so does HP.

Dell is the only one who consistently uses quality components, which although some of those components are manufactured in China, a lot of them are still manufactured in San Jose, California by Supermicro.

Get your facts right before you start attacking things you know nothing about.

I have never done business with Zones yet they call a number on the Do Not Call List. They call at hours that violate the law, some calls I have gotten at 9 pm at night and some at 7 am in the morning.... They call even when I have told them not to call anymore.... When I do not answer, they never leave a message. One day they called more than a dozen times. The times I did answer the phone, they were pushy and rude. A couple times they even blocked their number.

This is a company by their phone behavior alone, I would not do business with them> I too wonder if all the positive reviews and comments on here are just a scam at seeding the board with good comments to make their company look better than they have acted.

Why would anybody put themselves through the hell this company has to offer. They are terrible and way overpriced. We tried using them once for an emergency order that one of our VP's needed and it took them days to ship the equipment even though it was listed to be in stock. Now it wasnt a very large order maybe a few hundred dollars but when I called the rep to complain and ask them why this happened I was simply told that if I order more stuff at a higher price then they would treat more like a "partner" I couldnt believe it, from that day forward I vowed to never use this place again although they still call I just let it go directly to VM. Nice try but vendor now gives me good honest pricing and does what I need so needless to say zones is history.

This company sucks, screwed me over on a large software order by putting one thing on the invoice and then shipping another product - they admitted the mistake but wouldn't fix it because it was a drop shipment from Adobe. Eventually Adobe fixed their mistake but I had to put in hours of phone time to get it resolved. I have asked them many times to stop calling and harassing me at work - I have also e-mailed them requesting that they stop but they call almost every day and the reception puts them straight to voice mail. Looking at ways to blacklist them on our phone system.

Zones is a valid company and we've done a lot of business with them.  I can't speak to the aggressiveness of other sales people, but the one I work with, Yuri, is exemplary.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Zones is one of those places that no matter how hard you work or what you do they do not promote nor do they give raises in any way. 90% of the profit that is generated is kept by senior management. They treat employees like crap and micro manage them to death only to give woman who have sex with their clients the best accounts or if you do drugs with your direct manager or let your girlfriend have spin with a VP then you can get some good treatment. I agree when you first find a job it is a great feeling but after a year or two you can realize that it was huge mistake. This company will never take their employees to the next level, it will just continue to focus on making senior management as rich as possible until the floor falls out leaving all the little guys with nothing. About typical of an American company run by a foreign CEO. It is shame because when you come to zones you have high hopes of success after a year or two you realize that dream is for fools.

This job must suck for these guys. It seems like I am getting a call from a new rep that wants to introduce themselves every 6 months or so. Cant say that I blame them Zones is one of the worst places I have ever dealt with.

I tried them in the past but their prices were to high to even be fair. Plus their credit people are idiots and things ship slow. Not worth the time to deal with More Direct has always been great with their pricing and their ability to not harass me. Now I just let any Zones call go directly to voicemail it makes the most sense for me.

Same number, same calls, same hangup.

Dont these vendors realize that almost every company has caller ID and even more annoyingly, when a caller calls and hangs up, many companies also have a voice mail system that delivers a voice mail message anyway?  I so sick of "No Message Left" voice mail messages associated with this number.

And no mistake. CDW and a few others a JUST AS BAD.

Lastly, if you want to have real fun, VERY NICELY tell them you are not interested and to stop calling.  Many dont handle rejection well and completely lose it.

That's when you program your phone system to forward all inbound calls from these numbers to some 800 number and they never ring at your desk (or at anyone's in the firm) again. Best yet...have the calls auto forward back to ZONES 800 number.  THAT will stop the calls for certain.

Just received a VM from a Zones sales rep. I'd never heard of them previously, so the Google search landed me on this site. She seemed pleasant enough, and my company does need some new hardware in one of our call centers.

While I already have a quote from my normal VAR I think I'll give her shot. Sounds like she's working in a pretty unpleasant environment-hopefully she can make a few bucks.

IT sales/telemarketing. They call repeatedly and are super rude to our receptionist. That's not going to get me to buy jack and our receptionist now has them labeled as blackhole with permission to direct them there.
Yahoo Finance shows the number related to zones.com a "Direct marketer".

Zones does suck, I dont blame you for looking for a new job in the slightest bit. There is nothing in life like being treated like crap by both customer who use profane language at you and having management treat you like crap both on the pay scale and daily life, just to know that all you are doing is making some indian CEO rich.

I am a current Account Executive with Zones Inc. and I would tell you my name and actual extension but I have a mortgage and this company will show you the door in a heartbeat. Our management is just as ruthless to us as we are in calling you; its a direct reflection of where we work.

I try and respect the wishes of people who don't want to be called. I'm a nice person who you would enjoy speaking with if we were in a face to face social setting but I understand your at work and my call is eating into your time to be productive at your job.

So I have some honest questions that have cropped up in this thread time to time. If I left a voicemail being very upfront and honest about my purpose for calling would you call back? How would you prefer I approach you to initiate a conversation?

Nothing would make me happier than to not call people who don't want to speak with me, and I could potential stop calling dozens of people and companies if they would only pick up the phone and let me know.

As its been stated here I do get paid to dial 80 times and talk for 3.5 hrs a day at a 7% commission rate. I purposely call numbers that have never picked up as many as 5 times a day because apparently you don't mind a ringing phone and I just completed 6.25% of my requirement for the day. I called one person over 100 times in a single month before he picked up the phone and very nicely asked me to stop; which I did.

Hanging up, cursing or simply ignoring any cold call is futile. Most new Zones Inc. representative are college educated, they respond to reason and logic incredibly well. So well in fact that if you politely layout a case for why you won't or can't buy from them they will probably stop calling and it will be 3 months before you company rotates back into production and someone new tries.

I sell products that can actual block all the cold sales call's. So why not pick up the phone buy them from me and then block my number. Both of us would be happier for it.

P.S. Is anyone hiring? I am looking for a new job. My qualifications aside from a BA and many years of job experience in varying fields including Sales/Marketing/Govt and IT is that I am a tenacious hard worker who won't give up.

If the professionalism of most of the zones supporters in this thread is reflective in any way of the company they're backing, it makes the decision pretty clear on whether or not I would even consider moving any of my business to them.

Regardless of that however, these calls are excessive and annoying.  I'm often on other calls when they come in and without a voicemail wouldn't return the call even if I was interested in the service.

They work on an in-house CRM called ZAC.
Everytime they do a "purge" of leads or a rep leaves the company, the previous notes session is closed but NOT deleted.
When I worked there until 2007, I not only was very clear on the notes I made, but went back & read the previous notes in the account. If somewhere in the notes it said "don't call" & was within 3 yrs., I didn't call them and would clear out the lead.
I always had very low dials and very high talk-time. Primarily because the people I spoke with wanted to work with me and I was always respectful to their time and IT needs.
Probably the most insulting thing about working for them is, I worked there for a little over 2 years. My base salary at the time of my hire was as high as it would ever get. Just like the guy next to me who had been there 4 years. He was paid a lower base than I was and subsequent new "Account Executives" (as their title is on everything: email, business cards etc), hired a year after me were paid substantially more as their base salary. This was explained away as "Competitive Hiring."
This is just ONE of the many soul-crushing experiences one must endure in order to continue employment in a VERY difficult and uncertain financial crunch, at a job that is thankless & as someone earlier pointed out, the 7% margin is something the AE could only ever dream to make unless an occasional one-off came through for an online purchase on something smal.
The obvious point here? The company makes plenty of $, but that "annoying rep" trying to just stay employed and keep medical insurance, has to give up as much as 5% just to sell a stinking laptop.
Ugh, thank g-d I moved somewhe

Dont contact Zones if all you are looking for is a third quote. Of course CDW is going to have you deal reged and all your prices locked down when you let them know about a project 3 months before anyone else. When you do that all you are doing is wasting everyones time. CDW is a big crackpot of the industry people who buy from CDW are the same people who "know big things" "talk to big people" big woop. Zones doesnt want to be your scapegoat on why you want to get the tug and rub from CDW zones wants to partner with people and help them find solutions, if you are not willing to work with them from the begining then dont even bother. Keep your mouth shut and take your business elsewere as Zones doesnt want to deal with the whinning cheapskates anyway.

Says the guy trying to sell software licenses $200 over what CDW offers. And what is wrong with Dell? Dell has some of the best prices with some of the best warranties out there, I can have a Dell tech out to replace any piece of hardware SAME DAY, under our current contract. Apparently you don't know anything about the IT industry.
