Called but didn't leave message. Have no idea

I got a call from this number today and the man said he was calling in response to an application I filled out for a job. I have applied for numerous jobs online and thought it was legit. It also was from a local area code so I thought it was for a place I did apply to. It wasn't until after I got off of the phone that I wasn't sure of the company he said he was from because it was somewhat slurred. Needless to say, after hours of thinking about the phone call, it wasn't legit and just a scam.

Got a call from this number, so I answered it because of the local area code.  The guy told me he was calling in response to a survey in which I said I was interested in employment, and asked if I remembered.  I never took such a survey, so I hung up.

This is the second call I've gotten from them. The guy said his name was John and he was calling regarding a physician's survey that I had recently taken. I said, "I'm sorry, I don't remember ever taking such a survey, so I think you have the wrong number." Then he told me someone in my house was looking for employment and filled out a job application, so he was trying to match that person up with a position. I told him I am the only person in my household, so he said "goodbye" and hung up.

Same thing.  Told me I completed an online survey which in turn requested that they call me to answer a few more questions.  However, the company they said they were calling on behalf, I could not understand.  So I asked again, "What company are you calling on behalf of" and again they 'slurred' it so I still could not understand what they said.  It was at that point I told them to put me on their 'Do Not Call List', at which time they abruptly hung up on me.

Uh so this number called my mom. So I called it back on my phone and it was an auto recording for WM Positions? Saying that at some point on line I said I wanted them to contact me. But they hadn't even called my phone so I bet the whole thing was BS.

I also read somewhere on the real WM Positions website that they don't send out phone calls like that and that if you receive one don't answer and don't give away any information. (Obviously, but still in case you didn't know- don't.)
