This man called my house this morning and asked for my husband by name. At first, I said he wasn't home but what I'd meant was that he was still asleep. When I tried to say this, he cut me off and asked for the "lady of the house". This is the lady of the house, I told him but rather than talk to me, he said there was no message and started to hang up. When I tried to ask him who it was, he said something else instead and annoyed, I hung up on him. Since it was a "local area call" and he didn't want to leave a message, talk to anyone here or identify himself or a company, I got the impression someone was trying to find out if we were home. I have a 125lb german rottweiler though so if coming to my house was the intent, that would be a mistake on their part.

No it does not help!!!!!!  I continue to get them as well as my adult children!!

When I came home my answering machine was blinking. So I listened to the "message". Somebody said, "hello" and then asked if I was there - using my first name. Nothing further was said. They most probably realized they were leaving a message and hung up.

So I phoned the number back thinking it might be somebody I know. A recording picked up and started to tell me about some or other wonderful charity. I presume they wanted me to donate. I hung up at that point. Sorry, but I don't donate to unsolicited telephone callers. I donate to charities of my own choice.

Caller ID said - "local call area".

No, my friend...nothing, including The Constitution, means anything anymore.

I am on a DO NOT CALL list.  Why am I receiving this call?  Or does the DO NOT CALL list mean nothing?

I keep getting calls from this number but no one speaks when I answer the phone tried calling back and just get a busy signal

This seems to be those questionable charity workers who say they are collecting money for the Kentucky Highway Patrol families who lost loved ones, they're the ones who send you those stickers, and if you donate, it's not tax deductable...they don't take no for an answer.  I live in the far eastern part of ky and these calls are originating in the far southwest of Kentucky...why in world would I try to support officers in some other area than my own.   Really questionable.

It's a fundraiser for a children's organization or public safety organization.
