This is a fraud campaign currently active in Canada using a series of Iristel VOIP numbers from the 289 Area Code (Brampton, Ontario Canada). The objective is to obtain your credit card number and drain your account.
If you attempt to "opt out" your number will be confirmed as live and added to a suckers list for repeated future calls.

If this call came from area code "202", would you say that "This is a fraud campaign currently active in Washington, DC"? No, you wouldn't. VOIP calls can come from anywhere in the world, Nigeria for example. It's been stated on this forum that caller ID is becoming obsolete. The caller ID of any phone, anywhere in the world, can be faked. What you mean is that you received a phone call from a foreign, or domestic criminal.

I just spent an hour on the phone with first Rickelle and then, when I wouldn't bite, was transferred to Amanda. You could yell over her, repeat her name over and over, and she just kept reading. Now I know I could have just hung up, but I wanted to see how far they would go to keep me on the phone. I kept changing my answers, or answered by both agreeing and disagreeing with every statement she made. No matter what I said they were not frazzled at all. They just kept hammering away. "Your Mastercard is 16 digits and begins with a 5, correct?" I said, "every Mastercard is 16 digits and starts with a five. I will not give you my number."
They were relentless. It was not until I asked Amanda to give me a "f****ng phone number for me to call you back on", did she finally hang up. One hour...

I did twice today and they will not remove me - very aggressive. I have reported them to the National Do Not Call List: https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/plt-cmp-eng

I did as well the past couple days. They tell you about winning a trip and the agent had my email address and phone number. If you call back the number it says "all operators busy" and disconnects, it's clearly a scam. You find yourself talking over the agent to get a word in, they won't remove me from their call list. Alot of suspicious actions have been happening to my email address and credit card, password reset warnings, etc. The only thing I can think of is I recently went to a Wedluxe bridal show in Toronto, I'm guessing someone's selling this information.
