I received a call and when answered there was no person or dial tone. When i hit redial there was no ringing or answer.

Better yet, record all the information you can, tell him to remove you from the list and then contact:

(in Vancouver) Picked up this call and it sounded like he said "...calling from CPS". I asked him what that meant and he said something like Credit Payment System or Card Payment System. He was trying to set up an appointment to meet with one of their executive sales reps to go over various company credit cards and comparing them, in order to save 'me' money.
I declined and asked him to remove me from their calling list. Stalled response from him...<deaf ears>. He persisted in his pitch. I asked him 4 times to remove me off his calling list. Finally, he just hung up on me, without confirming he would take me off their list.

Anybody see this number on their caller ID, don't bother picking up.

Called me too today this (289) 802-0097 and I am in Victoria BC. Asked Telus to deal with it, got an advise to subscribe for a "screen" feature... $1.95. and it wasn't a joke.

Something fishy no doubt.  i guess it is calling for vmail systems to exploit.

"Hello.....  Hello. This is Alan Duckett from First Data. Is the owner available?"

That's as far as the call went before he was informed his call was not welcome.

Apparently First Data ( http://www.firstdata.com/ ) is yet another merchant credit card processing company. These card processors are an absolute telemarketing plague.

THIS NUMBER HAS BEEN CALLING 2-3 TIMES A DAY, AND EVERY DAY FOR OVER A YEAR NOW.
AUTO-DIALERS (like I've feared this number could be routed from) ARE ILLEGAL IN THE USA, BUT NOT HERE IN CANADA???

THE PEOPLE WHOM BUY THESE DIALERS SHOULD BE THROWN IN PRISON AND FORGOT ABOUT.

When i call this # back..it rings for about 10 rings then goes to a busy signal
