On 9/23/2010 received a call at 9:00AM CDT
from 303-217-5152 which showed up as "THE ACADEMY AT" in caller ID ... a recorded message said that my ATM card was locked and to unlock select
a character to talk to a customer service rep.
Being a retired bank employee, I knew this call was
not legitimate because banks don't usually handle matters this way. So I hung up and did nothing.
Does anyone know if we have any recourse if our
phome numbers are listed in the "do not call" directory?

GOT A CALL ON 9.19 IN THE AFTERNOON SAYING MY DEBIT CARD FROM AMERICAN NATIONAL BANK HAD BEEN SUSPENDED AND I COULD REACTIVATE BY ENTERING MY CARD NUMBER WHICH I DID NOT DO BECAUSE I DO NOT BANK WITH THEM. I FOUND OUT THIS WAS A SCHOOL AND TODAY THE NUMBER IS NOT ACCEPTING CALLS. I RECEIVED 2 MORE CALLS ON THE SAME DAY ONE FROM ALBERTA CANADA AND ONE UNKNOWN CALL. BOTH OF THESE CALLS CAME ON MY CELL PHONE. THE FIRST CALL CAME ON MY HOME PHONE.

I just got this same call at 10:30 pm in the Dallas area. I haven't been to Target in ages and we don't have a personal account with the bank they said they were from.

I used my card at Sears about 6 hours ago...I have the "same" caller/number repeating the message over and over NOW....I don't think it is a coincidence...I will contact Sears tomorrow...I wonder how many peeps actually give them the info...I gave them 1234567812345678 over and over "bored with nothing to do...lol" and they know it is a bad #..."If it's not one thing, it's another"...I just hung up and called the number back and got the same recording....I am curious if all of the calls are after hours and it is actually coming from the business that's listed..."Food for thought"..."the somamabeeches"

Got call, CID showed "Academy", but recording was same--said my American National Bank of Texas card is locked, and press # to reactivate...I hung up. Second call in two days.

Ditto. We are in Fort worth mid cities area. Call showed as coming from this number but no name showed on CID. So annoying. Please everyone, be careful.

Call 10 min. ago from 303-217-5152 with no name associated on the CID. We do not accept "Unknown" calls. Appears to be a continuation of this criminal activity. We are in the Fort Worth area (Mid-Cities).

got a call from 303-217-5152 this yesterday morning (Sun- 8:15am) said they were calling from American National Bank, saying my card was comprised, to press 1 to talk to a customer service rep.,
I hung up. I don't have an account with that bank.

My call was the same number 303-217-5152 which is a Colorado number. Target has nothing to do with it since we PCSed with the military overseas where we do not have target nor have I purchased anything from them online. I called my bank and they are aware of the fradulant calls going around.

I got this same call at 12:00 in Fort Worth TX today and my wife answered and try to press 1 but it did not work as she was in a decorative rotary phone we have. By the time she found the cordless phone I had already looked up the number on google and found this page but she wouldn't have fallen either. Main clue...No never give you SSN, CCNumber or anything over the phone to anyone.

I received a call today from 303-217-5152 but instead of Southwest Credit Union it was American National Bank. The story was the same, though. My debit card had been locked and to reactivate it I was to push 1. I was curious so pushed 1. I was then asked to enter my 16 digit debit card number. I hung up.
| anonymous 2010-09-19 23:24:48 Unknown |
Definately a scam! They left half of a recorded message about my debit card....whatever....Naughty people!!!
| G Shipley 2010-09-19 21:55:24 Unknown |
I also received the same call regarding my debit card at my bank. I hung the phone up.

got a call from this number and was at work so i didn't answer. after reading this im really glad i didn't. this is the 2nd number i've gotten a phone call from saying my debit card was locked. it was the same scam. i don't remember the other number and i accidentally erased off my phone. when i called it back, it gave me instructions in French! I am in Washington State. Now i might start to Google every unknown number i get. i don't think it has anything to do with Target either. i haven't been to a Target in years.

Called here in Texas at 10:30 pm - automated call saying that my Velocity ,a local credit union, debit card had been locked for security purposes and to press 1 to be connected with the security dept. to reinstate my card. I don,t have a debit card with them. Sorry rotten scumbag phishing scammers no doubt.
