There's nothing fishy about this number.  It's not a scan or a spoof.

It's the switchboard number that shows up when anyone from Colorado State Government calls.  It could be anyone from the Department of Revenue to Central Collections.  It's not a live number that you can call back.  So when someone leaves a different number on your voicemail to call back, it's because their actual number does not match what shows up on caller ID.  To the post above that got a call from the Attorney General's Office, that was an actual criminal investigator that works for the AGO.

I work for the State.  That's how I have this information.  These calls are legitimate and a State department may be calling you for any number of reasons.

Got a call from this number 303 445 1041. There was a signal from my phone indicating a voice mail. When I listened to the voice mail, I heard a rustling sound, the sound of a female voice (no complete words were said, and no message was left) before the caller hung up.

This number called at 8:30 AM and I didn't get it. When I checked my VM they said that they were CO State Government and asked for me by my first middle and last name and left some other number to call back on from 8-5. Caller did not identify himself or leave an extension or any other info. Seems fishy.

Tried to return call within 24 hrs. but number no longer in service. Something smells scammy here.

I have a relative who works in the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and this number sometimes shows up when she calls me.  It is one of a series of lines that are randomly chosen when an employee calls out.  I suspect it has been compromised  or "spoofed".  A true call from any of the people in this sections should  begin with "My name is XXXXXXXXX calling from the Colorado dept of XXXXXXXX  and I'm looking for/ or calling Mr/Ms XXXXXXXXXX concerning XXXXXXXX."  You can ALWAYS ask for written notification when in doubt.

The above preceeding 4 posts by ls, Summer, John Flora and frank ALLEGE this number is the state of Colorado. 800notes is an anonymous public forum where IDs are not checked before anonymous posters are allowed to post so all their claims are nothing but ALLEGATIONS and ALLEGATIONS do *NOT* prove this number is the state of CO. The state of CO may be calling you but SCAMMERS may be calling you as well.
If you get called by this number, do *NOT* give any info to a stranger who calls you. Ask for who's calling (name, department, website) and a callback number, then HANG UP, then look for and call back on a good number from a *TRUSTED SOURCE* like the state of CO's website  http://www.colorado.gov/  or your phone book (do *NOT* call the number supplied by the stranger) and ask for the person by name. This is the *ONLY* way to know that you are calling the state of CO for sure. Beware of SCAMMERS who are pretending to be the state of CO. If anything looks dodgy (like if you call CO Medicaid using a number from colorado.gov and ask for Mary Smith, and the real Mary Smith says she never called you), you may have been called by a SCAMMER pretending to be Mary Smith of CO Medicaid. Beware!

"you get a recording stating that the number is no longer in service & is disconnected" means the number is spoofed  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing  and your caller should be treated as hostile.

Likely a SCAMMER trying to phish info from you. They have your SSN but maybe not your DOB. Everybody please stay away.

This is a blind routing stub used by many Colorado state agencies when they do not wish for you to be able to  call them back on the number. I have received calls from two state agencies with the caller ID being this number. there was a great deal of static and the collars could not be heard, but they did leave messages and I return the calls.

The number is from the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing (aka CO Medicaid). It's a legit number, probably just a centralized number for employees to use. I'm a law office so I deal with them.

The number apparently is a catch-all number that shows up when someone calls from a Colorado State government agency. My call was from state collections and was legitimate.

Apparently this is a default number that shows up when any one of numerous State of Colorado agencies call you. I guess the number isn't designed to accept calls back, so you can only hope that whoever is trying to get in touch with you will leave a call back number.

I missed the first three calls from this number, then finally they left a voicemail and it was someone from the State of CO main collection agency. I can't say I was happy to hear from them, but at least I figured out who was calling me.

The same thing happened to me.  I call back and hear "We're sorry etc"

Had a call from this number also and he said his name was Mike Cizbatta and that he was from the Colorado Attorney Generals office and investigating credit card fraud.   Scary because i just had my card number stolen but left another number to call him back on 303-866-2957 but if you google that number it's for a state senator.  Also weird that this number (on my caller ID) gives you a message that it's been disconnected and is no longer in service although if you google it it says it's from the Colorado Attorney Generals office.  Not a warm fuzzy here and smells like a scam and the folks who stole my credit card may be contacting me to try and get more info since I reported the card as compromised to my bank.

Said her name is Melissa Ball from the Colorado Attorney General's office asking for owner by first and Last name.

the lady just asked if they could talk to the parents of my husand and i said they have the wrong number and then hung up. I tried to call back and it says its out of business.

This is a bad ##. they must be trying to get dr's info. i called and informed medicaid and they going to warn everyone

This is getting old fast! They claim to be with the Colorado State Attorney General's Office but I call that office & they do not have any phone numbers like the one that calls us. When you call this number back you get a recording stating that the number is no longer in service & is disconnected but yet they still keep calling.

I got a call from this number and a english speaking man said somthing about I had a problem with medicare. I told him I didn't speak english and he hung up, but they called right back and a man speaking broken spanish started telling me that I had a problem with medicare or somthing like that. he then read off my social number and asked me if it was correct. I replied no and hung up. I don't know how did he got my ssn

rings and I keep hanging up. just beeps and beeps. I call back and its been disconnected
