I've had them call repeatedly and I googled the number and it's from M&J according to google anyway. Interestingly enough though the number they leave is different from caller ID which is a New Mexico number, but they leave a Colorado number. Shady.

I had a credit one credit card for $300.00  They garnished my account with documentation for $1,991.00  

To date They've taken over $2,000 from me in garnishments and say that I still owe a couple hundred dollars!!  Spoke to me with out verifying my information, said they'd pay the 30 dollars if I paid 250 (didn't mention this would be a settlement and not paid in full: I've already paid over 2k for a 300 bill & they want to report on my credit that I didn't pay the whole 300 dollar bill!)

Truly sick and spiteful employees that call them self debt collectors.  They're not debt collectors, they're professional scam artist that tack on extra money for accounts that they have no justification to do so.

They were harassing a friend and he took them to federal court , he won the case and received $1000 for each violation for noncompliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act under § 616 (15 U.S.C. § 1681n),  he recovered thousands of dollars from them in actual damages plus punitive damages, as well as reasonable costs.

This is just to help clarify and simplify things so people aren't too confused.

The agency, Linebarger, is a lawfirm/collection agency that contracts out with two primary states: Texas and Florida. Others may use them, but those are the big two.

When Linebarger calls you, they are doing so on the behalf of a county within one of the above states. So let's use an example - Let's say you didn't pay a ticket in Florida that you got 5 years ago. Linebarger will call you to try and collect it. They won't know anything about your ticket, or what it was for, or anything else - all Linebarger does is collect the money.

If you want to confirm if you actually have a ticket or not, or contest it, or whatever else - Contact the county in which you got the ticket.

Simple as that. They ARE a real agency. They ARE really contracted by the government. Ignoring them isn't really productive, nor is claiming you don't owe anything. If you REALLY want to fix it (without paying, especially if you think it's an error) contact the Clerk's office of the county Linebarger is saying you got the ticket in.

I just received what looks lie a summons from this "law firm" mentioned, Machol & Johannes, LLC that says it's collecting a debt for Chase, a debt I do owe but have had problems...get this, I was late with a payment by a couple of days after paying on time for 2 years, they jacked up my interest and all of a sudden my minimum payment of $35 was $165 and I just couldn't afford it at the time.

Looks like from here that this is a bad place to deal with.

My question...is this a real summons for court?  I would imagine it is, but am going to call Chase and see if I can work it out with them, something I admit I should have done long ago, but the couple of times I did I was snubbed by the customer service reps I spoke with!  I have a credit card through Capital One that I've had as long as the Chase one, twice was late by a few days, they were so freakin' nice to me on the phone, removed the late fee and told me what a good customer I was!  Chase could learn a few things from them!!!!

Calling and no longer leaving messages, playing major games trying to collect a debt that no longer exists.

this legal services tried collecting a debt  that , yes, I owe, they are working for Capital one. . They wanted me to not get my anti rejections drugs that run 600 dollars a month and to pay them with the medical money I need for my life survival! no matter how I tried to Explain to the man on the other end , he was rude, pushy and did not  care if I died or not , he wanted money today! he was asking for my bank  account number , who I banked with. (I didnt give him any info on that,) If  I .Have life  insurance, or 401k? Which I cant get  anyway.. Do not talk to these jerks. they are cold hearted and dont give a rats A** if your are ill. , they are working for a percentage of what they can weasel out of you. I filed Bankrupcty the next day.  So KArma will bounce back at them for all the evils they do.

I don't get calls from them, just letters. The phone number on the letter is 1-800-414-3961. You might try calling that number and reporting the the 303 number. They need to know what's going on. They do not make phone calls.

Also, heading on the letter is Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP Attorneys at Law.

called first time today- did not leave number- put number into google and got hit on Colorado State Website saying they are allowed to collect taxes for Colorado- thing is i owe no taxes

If you owe nothing then call back and tell him they have the wrong number.

This number called me and said my husband owes over 7 g's on a credit card he's never had. We do not share any joint accounts/credit cards, so I don't know how they got my number. When my husband called them back, they made all these idle threats of court and blah blah blah...bottom line, I'm changing my number. After reading everyone else's comments about this number, I'm worried about identity theft...

The firm Machol & Johannes have called my mother looking for me, and she told them I don't live there, which I don't. She also asked them to not call their number again, and they replied "We will stop calling you when she calls us." So, I went to the law firms web site so that I could email them about stopping their calls to my parents house. I am curious as to how you came to find that they are associated with Machol & Johannes? I googled this number because it was on a summons delivered to me and they were listed as the attorneys for the Plaintiff. They are trying to collect on a school loan debt and tacked on an amazing $2000 collection fee. My debt was $4500.
So this number 303-830-0075 belongs to them now, no mention of the other firm. The mailing address is 717 17th Street, Suite 2300, Denver CO 80202. Basically right next to the address you listed. M&J also have a long history of being a scumbag collections agency disguised as attorneys according to other internet posts.

Keep calling for someone that doesn't live here anymore.  They literally argue with me that she does and are harrassing us. They've changed their name, and I think they need some prozac.

This "Law Firm"... that's a bit of reach!  This "Law Firm" has tried repeatedly to collect nearly $900.00 more that the court order was for.  I have explained that I started making payment before the court order, and was told "those don't count toward the amount you owe!".  WHAT?  I can't seem to get anyone at the state level to help, I guess that what you get when you have a state government that is more worried about collecting taxes then making things right!

now uses 866-507-0026, mumbles their name, uses same routine as noted above.  This number is listed for Kaiser-Permanente, but caller IDs self as from Winebogger, Goggin and Samson.  With a little detective work, it was not hard to learn that the caller is identical to the above.

I got a call on my cell phone as I was driving, I answered and told the person to hold on so I could put my blue tooth on. The phone hung up. It rang again and this guy named "Shalome" left a very rude message. I called back almost immediately and was told that the jerk had already gone home for the day. I researched the number online and discovered that it belongs to a law firm employed by the State of Confusion..uh, I mean Colorado for tax collections.

Why would the government hire a crappy company like this to collect tax debts?! Isn't that the IRS auditors' jobs?!?!
They always hang up when I answer - what's the point of calling if they don't say anything?

I have been getting called from these people almost daily for a couple months. It is a recorded message that says "hang up" if you are not the person they are asking for. I have never heard of the person that they are asking for, and the number they are calling is my company provided cell phone that I have had for about 5 years. I sent a fax to this company (Linebarger, Goggan, Blair and Sampson) told advise that they have the wrong number, and request that they stop calling me. I am still getting calls, and at this point I consider this to be harrassment. I would think that is a term that a law firm might understand? I guess my next step is going to be to complain to the authorities in Colorado

So I finally got through. It is Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson.  I spoke to a lady explaining my situation to remove my #.  She said I have to put you on hold to do so.  After 4 minutes a lady speaking spanish answered and just forwarded me to voicemail.  Left a nasty vmail.  So we'll see what happens.  Have fun if somehow they get your number.

Hey Carol, I think your comment is correct, I also got a call from this number and the caller id said "Linebarger Gogg". Collectors for the IRS sounds correct as my x wife owes big time.
