This company has called me 8 times in past two days. I reported them to the FTC and to State of Florida. The last two times I told them that I reported them and they said "sorry, but calls are automated"

I posted this elsewhere also.
Call Type: SCAM
Newport Travel Agency: She called my mother but my mom had me call them for her instead to speak on her behalf. When I called and asked for Elizabeth, a woman took my name and said Elizabeth would call me back. She called back immediately from (305) 432-9775. I'm categorizing this as a scam because the caller claims my mom had already paid $498 for a trip/cruise to Florida, the Bahamas etc. and that all she "owed" further was another $498. My mom had asked before about reimbursement, and they told her it wasn't an option and that she basically either could pay the rest and take the trip or lose the $498 she had "already invested" into the trip. Mind you, apparently this $498 was paid in 2010 (they said there was no activity on the account since 2010) and today was the deadline for paying for the trip or else that money would have gone to waste. (Why they waited until now gave me a red flag on top of all the others already). She mentioned that I could reinstate/pay for the trip for her with my credit card since I was taking care of my mom's expenses. She mentioned that normally they "don't bother" to contact people when the trip/account is about to expire and she stressed that getting it paid by the end of the phone call/day was vital or my mom would lose out on the money she "already invested" into it. Claimed that my mom "sounded sincere" when she told her I would call them back for her (as if they were doing my mom some kind of favor or something) I asked her if she had info on the credit card my mom used in 2010 and she said she didn't have that information pulled up/on her/available and that all she knew was that she thinks it was a Visa card (most common card anyway so chances are a majority of people they call have one). I told her I'd speak to my mother and return her call (she reminded me they closed at 5:30p), it's 4:53 and instead of calling, I'm writing this. :) I'm so glad my mom had me handle this, I'm sure she wouldn't have fallen for it though but I'd hate to think she could have by the way they were talking. Also one note to make, people aren't going to remember this "payment" they made years back and if they don't remember making it and if this "company" isn't going to refund them the money but wants them to pay the "other half", why should anyone care about "losing out" on this "investment"? They've already been without it and had no idea. I honestly believe this is a pure scam. They claim to be calling on behalf of another company but they don't have any information as to the card that was used. Surely that type of information would have been handed over to them if this was legit. I also mentioned the word "collections" and she was like "No!, No! No!, this isn't a collection", they're right, it's a scam! Please don't get trapped in this. Always take down information first (names, numbers, account numbers, anything they claim to have on file for you) and look them up if you have suspicions about the people/numbers calling you. Plug the number into google, you'll be amazed about what you find, which is exactly how I got here. Be safe with your money folks.
