Never never never give remote access to your computer to anyone you don't know, especially someone who calls YOU. Reputable companies like Microsoft, McAffee, etc will never initiate this type of call. Once you give someone access to your computer, they have access to everything you have on it - financial records, passwords, everything. Simply uninstalling a program may not be enough if they've placed hidden files on your computer. You've opened a door that may take a professional to close. And never ever give these people access to your bank account. Once you do, they can & will make repeated withdrawals and claim you authorized it. Another version of this scam is someone claiming you've downloaded a virus and they need access to your computer to remove it. Again, no reputable company will initiate this type of call because, frankly, they have no idea what's on your computer. If you're running an antivirus, the program will alert you and it's up to YOU to call for technical assistance.

I just received a call from 30920139, the woman said she was with windows and to hit the windows button  on the bottom left and r at the same time... then one of their 'senior techs' then downloaded Team Viewer and showed me several errors on my computer; for so much a month they would take care of both computers. He brought up a Western Union sight and had me fill in most (he did the secret password) of the application and wanted me to put in my bank account information. I then told him I didn't have a bank card. After much discussion he said he would wait until I go to the bank and get a card (I cannot use a prepaid on, it had to be a bank card) and not to turn my computer off.  Needless to say I told him to log off my computer, restarted both, and uninstalled their program.

We got this call today claiming to be a rep of Ameren (power company) wanting to lower our electric rates. In our area, Ameren is trying to raise rates. When I called it back, the call did not dial through. Sounds like a lot of red flags!!!

Total scam.  Ripped my granny off for 200K saying she won lotto and had to pay taxes first.  Don't answer.  If they keep calling, blow a whistle into the phone.  MUCH more effective than the do not call registry!

I can't seem to get these people to stop calling.  I know it is an automated call system and at one point was able to talk  to a live person and asked them to not call me again.   They continue to call more than once a day.  How do you stop them?

Man asked for my wife by name and I told him she wasn't available at the moment and asked who was calling and he said "Steve" and immediately hung up.  I called the number back but it will not accept incoming calls.

Received a call from this number...no message left just noisy background. Supposedly Local Chicago call.

This number calls every day, numerous times.  I never answer,  but they let it go to voicemail and never leave a message.  Just a nuisance!

This caller calls and refuses to answer questions and only wants money for Vets association.  Have blocked the calls and they continue to get around it. Have rcvd calls from this number at 7:30 in the morning up to 8:30 at night all days of the week.  Once you start asking questions or not cooperating with the person they become rude and hang up but always call back a day or to later.

I get calls from this number EVERY DAY and no one is there and when I call back it has music then NOTHING!!  it's so annoying!!  sounds like it's a scam anyway so I wish it would stop calling.  I"m on the do not call registry anyway!!! : (

This number belongs to The Vietnam Veterans Association, Inc. They are a for profit organization, and from what I have been told, keep approximately 93% of the funds received. Absolutley incredible.

I Just got a call from this Local#309-807-4066 at 1:08pm on 11/09/2010. I don't recognize this number, so i didn't answer and no message was left on vm.  If you are using comcast laneline. Press *60 talk and then follow the instruction to block the call. I just found out and i'm trying it right now. So far I blocked 3 of this type of calls out of many. Will see if this will help me from get tick-off. If you want to try...feel free! no charge from Comcast. Good luck!

Receive calls from this number often but never any message left.

Been calling repeatedly, but leaves no message.  My husband answer yesterday and he asked for me.  Caller did not identify themselves.  I don't talk to people who call repeatedly and refuses to leave a message.  I figure it is not important enough when they refuse to identify themselves

Got recorded message on 4-19 and then a hangup call on the answering machine on 4-22.

Seems like a scam to me too, they would not respond to any questions, said the do not call list does not apply to them, next time I will tell them I fD their mom twice last nite and wished they were there to watch, but yes there is so much more does not seem legit, when you call back it is bogus.

This caller calls at various times, day and night, never leaves a message.  Called back for the first time today, heard music, then they hung up.  I am blocking this #.  Wish I knew who to report it to.  My phone is on the 'do not call list'.

I did a reverse number lookup and it came back to a landline and its in Bloomington or normal illinois, it is a scammer askin for money for war vets, dont give him anything he has been reported many of times and has been warned of lawsuits, he still continues to make calls and according to government he can be sued for $500 per annoyance call after this man is reported by you.

They call constantly and I am on the dncl.Tired of it....

@Tiffany:  According to the TCPA of 1993, the telemarketer MUST stop calling after you ask them to, if not, you are allowed to sue them for $500 each time they call.

I just hung up.....When I say Hello....get to the point already!!!
