They just called me, a man said "hello" then hung up. Caller ID said from San Pedro

Another number CALPAL is using. They have a rating of zero on Charity Navigator. Once when I said I was not going to donate and please take me off of their call list a guy and a woman called me repeatedly nonstop for an entire day and evening and then the next day. I reported them for harrassment but it did not stop until I called the main number in San Leandro TWICE. The first time I was polite, the second I was not. I suspect they are not a charity at all but a phone bank generating money for themselves.

They use derivatives of the name California Police Activities League like California Police Association, California Police League, etc.

They are a telemarketing sweatshop used to collect monies for non-profits, but they KEEP MOST OF THE MONEY.

This is a FOR-PROFIT company that collects funds for LAZY NON-PROFITS.

Besides, non-profits are still an illegal and gross violation of our right to privacy if the call is unwanted & unsolicited.

Telemarketing........working off of an OLD list..........soliciting money for the Police Athletic League.....DO NOT GIVE THESE JERKS ANY MONEY - THEY KEEP MOST OF IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if you give them anything, you will go on a list that they will use over & over again.  They asked for my wofe's deceased husband, who died over 6 1/2 years ago!

These calls are from CALPAL. This is a horrible organization, staffed with rude people. I've had nicer conversations with debt collectors. And these people are asking for donations. Dont waste your time or money.

They are rude! Asked for owner in a forceful voice as if they are from collection agency!  They hung up on me when told owner's not here!

Claimed to be calling from Police Athletic League and got angry then hung up when I asked questions.

Avalon consulting, a paid fund raising company, calling on behalf of CALPAL, the California Police Activities League. When I asked, they connected me to a sales manager who stated "California Police Activities League is guaranteed at least 10% of all money raised."

Now I know nothing about CALPAL, they may be worthwhile or not. But if you donate through one of these phone solicitations, 90% of the money is going to "a full-service direct marketing agency based in Washington, D.C", and 10% is going to the actual charity.

Legally, this may be a "non profit" call, but at 10%, it's hard for me to see it as anything more or less than telemarketing. My advice is, if you wish to donate to charity, consider donating direct.

I don't know who these mofo' are but they call ALL day long and no one replies when I call back. Probably some sleazeball collection agency. They're calling the WRONG house. I don't want/need/use credit of any kind...

On Called ID it said it was AVALON CA

I try to block them, which is difficult because of the multitude of phone # they use. It is harassment.

When I have asked to take us off their list they are extremely rude.
