The other day I received a phone call from 757-819-4307 (a VA) area code and all I heard was straight elevator music so I hung up and called back, got a generic answering service not saying a company name so I hung up. Few seconds later got a call from 469-250-8083 (a TX area code) saying hi "name" you just called,and I said no I'm not her but a different number called a few minutes ago and I didn't hear anything so I called to figure out who it was but I didn't get anything, immediately this ghetto lady got angry saying I called her,oh and this was at 6:30am, I live on the west coast.i asked her to take my number off and to stop calling. And she hung up on me. Today I get a call from 757-818-4310, from a man wanting to speak to whoever, I told him i had already asked to be taken off the call list the other day and he stated "this is the first time calling so could you have asked already." I proceeded to tell him what happened the other day and he hung up on me. My husband calls back and calls them out on harassment, they continue to hang up, he continues to call back. They called him a tough guy on the phone and he told them he's a tough guy in real life and just got back from serving his 3rd tour overseas, in Afghanistan and one guy told him that "I'm praying for you that next time you go you don't get shot in the head or nothing" in a sarcastic voice. Oh and they were "recording the conversation" like it was a threat when they also recorded themselves cursing and saying rude things. Needless to say if they call again my husband will call them back again :)

One of the times I got curious and said I knew who they were calling for ( I actually do, but from the start it sounded like a scam so ive always said no I didn't ) they said they were calling for credit card debt and there was legal action being pursued against this person for the debt lalalala so I told the person and we researched the numbers, at that time they were using Texas numbers to call, and found it to be a scam, plus the persons "debt" was not only already paid off but was null in void because of the statute of limitations.  This crap has been going on for over 6 months and it just makes me laugh at how ghetto and cracked out they act when you don't give them what they want. Do not give in to them, request paperwork and ask for their name, position company name and you'll be contacting your attorney regarding the matter. It's a huge scam.know your credit history too.

443 is a Maryland area code, mostly assigned to cells. 469 is Dallas.

Added in my (469) number they wanted me to call for Richard Scott...they said it was an urgent matter and called themselves AGA and Associates.  Thanks for all the posts...they scared the hell out of me.  Now I know just to ignore them.

Richard called me today, left an ambiguous message and number to call back.  His voice/tone was unpleasant/uneasy - not sure I'd describe it as confrontational.  Didn't call back, area code was from TX.

Richard Scott is extremely unprofessional and possibly engaged in fraudulent practices. If he is, it is under the guise of Alliance Group & Associates.

When pressed for details about his inquisition, he was quick to hang up the phone. This is a red flag for fraud. Real collectors, even those representing organizations that "purchase debt," can identify themselves, the debtor, the amount and dates of delinquence.

Fraudelent collections organizations hope that you will hear the word "attorney" and open your wallet wide.

Don't take their word for it.

Caller states that he is attempting clear a past debit.  Reads off your ssn, and other credit cards that you might have to pay that debit. So you think he is legite.  However, he can't give you a full address.  He is very abrupt and short tempored and not professional.  The number when calling back will not accept calls from blocked numbers. States that he is from CR and Associates

Repeated messages left, recording regarding a debt almost threatening with a disclaimer about what will be done with my information in order to aquire the "debt". I am in my early twenties and never have held a credit card or any debt to speak of so i was fairly confident it was some kind of automated system. When the number was not valid when I tried to call back I realized that's all it was. However, I still get messages every couple months, but glad to see all this feedback very informative.

Got a call from 310-697-3115 and 864-644-1007 . The 864 # was calling my cell phone and didn;t recognize it so I never answered it and never left a message. Then last week that same 864# was on my home caller ID. Still thought it was ales people so i never answered. Then this morning  the 301# called and asked for some lady I or my husband didn't know. Never introcduced what company she was from or what the msg was about. She said she had a message for her and had left my husband's name and number for her next contact. I was suspicious. Then went down to my cell phone later and say a missed call from the same 310#. So I called the 310# back and Mike at CRA answered. I asked him what kind of business this was. He didn't answer. Asked me what my name was and I didn't tell it to him. Told him they called us about this Lisa Marie lady and they had called both my home phone and my cell phone ( which I never give out) . i wanted to know how they got out info. He said my husband's name and then his last 4 digits of his social and then asked my if I I had gone by this Lisa Marie Name before. I told him I had know Idea who tha stinkin lady was and that I wnated to know how he had my husband's fuul name, our home phone, my cell phone and my husband's social. He said the phone # must have been recycled sorry and hung up.
I wasn't satisfied. SO I searched the internet for the area code and business in southern CA called CRA, but didn;t really find anything. So I called back again hoping to get someone different who could tell me what the business was so i could report them to the police. I called and the same Mike guy answered. I told him it was me again and that he had hung up on me and I still wanted an answer to my question. He then called me by my first name(which I had never told him) and told me to come down that it was an issue of a recycled number. I again told him it was more than a number- it was TWO numbers and a SS# and my husband's full name. He called me by my first name again and then I tol dhim I never told you my first name and now I know you know that. We ranted and raved back and forth, but her never would tell me anything just hung up on me again affter I told him I would call the police about our identity being stolen.

JUST got a call from these jokers.  They are calling because I did not respond to a call earlier in the week from another 877 number leaving basically the same message.  WHY would they think that calling from a Land Line (I was home but I never answer calls when I don't recognize the number) yet leaving me a message telling me to call them back using an 877 number would work?  This time it was a lady telling me that they were looking for me (or a registered represensitive of mine(WTF?!) that I would be approximately my age, gave some phony case number and said that I must know what this is about.  The first message was a man telling me I had a civil judgement filed against me and to call some law firm, then he wished me "Good luck" before he hung up.  Do these people think that we can't find out what they are and what they are up to?  BEWARE to everyone who gets a call from creeps.  I think that I am going to pay the extra 6 dollars a month to get the 800 number phone call rejection from Verizon, as this is happening way too many times lately.

got a call from a "ms.Johnson" from CRA stating i need to call her immediately today,  tried to sound intimidating, asked to have a representative or myself call them immediately.  a collection agency that is trying to intimidate and scare into calling them back.  go drown ms. johnson.   btw, they she left an 888 number to call back on.

Got a call from this number today, saying they were CRA and to call them immediately or have my representative call them TODAY. I hope they are holding their breath!

I recieved a call yesterday from a lady who said "this is very important and i need to hold for a person named richard scott. I then told her I had to get back to work. and I didnt really have time to talk. She then said that papers were going to be filed against me at 12:00 noon on 11/10/08. I asked what this was about and she said she could not tell me and she would transfer me to richard scott. I then recieved a busy signal. I called back a couple times but recieved no answer. also when i called back, it sounded like it was a personal voice mail. no company name, no identification of any kind exept this guy richard scott's voice.
anybody know what this is about? or is it a case of identity theft? who ever it is, they are very unprofessional.

Woman cld and left a message saying that she needs to speak to me concerning Lawyer Christopher Johnson's office.  Said that I must not know what this is concerning and it will be processed tomorrow 12 noon regardless of speaking to me or not.

This lady was not in a professional atmosphere at all!

Richard Scott: would not identify name of company calling from and would not provide details regarding alleged debt from 20 years ago. Seemed prepared to become argumentative. Instructed him not to call at work again. Says papers will be served at work next week.
