I received a call from HEARST INC., telling me that the drawing was for Dec. 31st 2013. The female on the other end told me that it was for a 25,000.00 dollar grand prize and that they had magazines that I could choose from and that I would be receiving a watch also. I asked how did she get my name and she told me that my bank or a credit card put my name in because I pay my bills on time. I asked her name and she stated that it was SHELLY. she became somewhat flustered when I told her that I did not answer questions from a cold call. I asked the name of the company and she told me that it was PUBLISHER'S HEADQUARTERS. When I asked why did she needed this information she told me that it was to make sure that it would NOT HARM THE FAMILIES? I asked in what way, she went back to telling me about all the lavish prizes. Around this time send SHELLY knew that I was not going to bite so she huffily asked if I was interested or not, because if I wasn't then she would just go ahead and take my name off the list. I told no that I was not interested and she hung up somewhat forcefully.

Yep, I just got that call from that same gal saying beautiful alot. She hung up on me when I wouldn't agree to pay for the weekly magazines. I was promised a diamond Geneva watch.
She called me!!! I didn;t call her and she wants my money??? NO way!!!
I'd like to know how she did get my "work" number. I work for the Government, so when I started asking the questions, she wanted nothing to do with me.
Anything like this...watch out for people. Its scary what they can get away with.

This is a scam phone call. They are fishing for any information you will provide. They told me my bank entered me into a sweepstakes, but could not tell me the name of the bank. Then they tried to say my debit card entered me into the sweepstakes. I confirmed with my bank THIS IS A SCAM!!!!! Beware.

Received a call today and answered because I know people in California and recognized the area code. After being explained that I should "keep up the good work" because my bank considers me a preferred customer, I promptly asked her which bank. She said, we work with many banks, so that was probably how you were entered into this sweepstakes. After I told her I wasn't giving her any information, she asked why I was scared to give out my name, address, employment, marital status, and salary. I just laughed and told her this was the worst scam I'd ever heard until she hung up on me. Overall I had a good laugh.
Claimed to be "Publishers Headquarters" the largest publication in the world. That was the best part.

How did they get your number?? It was probably a computer dialed robocall. Don't change your number. You might get a real deadbeats number!!
| How do they get new #'s??? 2013-09-17 23:01:11 Unknown |
Received a call today from (310)831-3189 with a sweepstakes drawing to be held in Dec. for $25,000 , Ford Explorer, or a trip to Hawaii. Then free Magazine subscriptions and a watch..... I didn't give them the details of my work or my husbands name/work. Gave them a really old number that is no longer in service, and will change my number if they try calling me again even though I like my number.
Did the girl claim she was new and say "Beautiful" a LOT?
Also received a call right afterwards from a (310)547-9146

Weird, all of these replies are from 2011 and it is now 2013 and I have received a call from this number. The caller id on the phone is HEARST INC. I know that Hearst is a magazine publisher and I do get lots of magazine subscriptions, but they have never called me before. The caller did not leave a message, but I know it is some type of scam or someone trying to get some information, the caller hanged up and did not leave a message. Usually magazines will send you something in the mail about magazine subscriptions and if you won something they would either send an email or letter especially if it is a large prize. Some do call but since I have not entered any sweepstakes from this publisher, then I know I didn't win a prize. I have had some call to tell me about filling out an affidavit, but these are legit companies who would leave a message telling you to call them back. Like I said before a SCAM, I don't answer unknown calls, I just ignore them. The calling list must have been dusted off with a new SCAM for 2013. Never give out any information over the phone to anyone.

BINGO... they told me my bank (which is a credit union with less than 10,000 members,.. that you have to work at 3 diff companies to get an account with) or credit card holder ( i dont have a SINGLE credit card in my name! ) released my cell number b/c i was a "preferred customer" and i was eligible for prizes. good luck on getting them to answer. has to be a scam. im kinda worried b/c i just changed my phone num not too long ago, so how did they really get it????

Received a call from this number today, looked the number up on Google Pages, it's listed to 'Divine Burn' - oh yeah, total scam. I don't answer calls on my cell phone that aren't in my address book. If they want to talk to me, they can leave a message. This number never leaves a message.

This is a scam number. Supposedly you are a finalist in a publishing house contest and were submitted by your bank. Prizes listed were $25,000, Nissan Hybrid, a trip to Switzerland, and a living room make over. Finalists are supposedly drawn on May 31, 2009. They will ask you to confirm your full name and address (which they all ready have), your age, your martial status, and your annual income (for gift tax purposes). Do not give out any information they ask of you. Please warn others against this number, so they do not fall prey to these awful people.
