. . . and you just HAD to run here to tell us all about it. 'Spot the Shill' is getting a little easy. Say? How do you say 'No' to a company that's won't stop calling you? After all, they were calling you 'for a number of weeks'. Guess they won't take 'no' for an answer.

My admin was getting calls from this number for weeks. And never put them to me. I usually dont want to speak with people I dont know because I get alot of sales calls. However once I spoke with Marcus Evans I understand why they were contacting me. I wasnt sure about them until I went to their CFO summit last year. Wow It was wonderful. Great networking with my peers, not a trade show. I told my admin she needs to put them though now. I missed out on there services because I never got to speak with them. Saved me time and money. Just hear them out. You can always say no.

Just had a Garrett Needer w/ Outage Management Summit out of Austin ...... found it weird when he gave me this number (since I know it isn't an Austin #).
Googled it and here I am ... very shady and very rude!

Received a call from 312 540 3000 extension 6480 from a "Dianna Berres" of Marcus Evans.

She wanted to talk to our VP for Marketing.   She couldn't explain what she was selling.   She said she put together "deals" for her health care clients.

Someone by the name of Scott claiming to be from the Long Term Group asked for my boss, President & CEO. After giving him the interrogation for more information I could tell he was making up lies and he started talking faster.  He dropped a few names and I finally found out he represented the Marcus Evans group.  What a waste of my time - scam artists.

No, I don't need to find another job, I'm very good at what I do. I'm glad your little company has had success with them. Our company, as a general rule, does not do business with them and this comes from the CEO's office. They send out notes to all of the admins about Marcus Evans and their abusive sales people. I've been here for over 7 years and just received another call from a guy named David Williams - he dropped Hyatt and Bank of America as customers who apparently want to partner with us. I know exactly why they're calling! Would it kill them to just be honest???

Same thing happened to me! RUDE RUDE RUDE! Completely lied to me about who he was with. Gave me TWO company names. Asked if my boss was in. Anything to try to get me off the line and in with my boss. Tried to talk fast to get me flustered and not ask questions. Watch out for this Ben guy!!

I received another sales call from marcus evans today.  The person called and said they were securing the last 5 seats for an upcoming medical conference.  Little did this person know that my company was a sponsorship partner with marcus evans for three years.

Her pitch was good, better than the calls I used to get.  She was not rude at all but quite pleasant, definitely experienced.  I told her we didn't have any budget and she was quick to end the conversation.

I will say Marcus Evans trade shows are very well put together.  They are probably the best ones out there, but they're sales people can be very annoying at times!

Yes, we keep getting calls from a "Ramsey" from "ME International". I am always courteous and take his number, but honestly I don't even think that he knows what kind of business he's contacting. And
there isn't a chance in hell that my boss will ever return that call. If he doesn't recognize the company or the name of the caller - instant delete.

In any case, if this company is selling "conferences" or some such, why on earth are they attempting to get in touch with the CEOs, and not the IT group, who would be the ones to negotiate such things? Seems an ineffective marketing strategy, at best.

I just received a call and message from this number and when I searched the number I found this site.  I've been an administrative assistant for the past 20 years and I think it is rather humorous that most people who come to complain on forums and boards like this are not executives but assistants who obviously can't do their job properly.  The young woman I spoke to was very polite and nice and was clear why she was calling.

My advice to you is treat them with the same respect you would like from them.  That means listen as to why they are calling because in the end it could be something beneficial to you, your job or your company.  Ignoring calls will not stop them from calling, but listening and actually picking up the phone might.

Event Reminder
It seems as though this company claims to be putting on conferences across all industries...never a good sign since the best ones are specialists.  In any event, the message was barely understandable and sounded like the person (Albert, didn't catch his last name) was reading from a script.  I hope they don't keep calling.

Lizzie-  We've been partnering with the company for over five years now because we continually have gotten business by partnering with them.  Of course with any company their are bound to be a few bad eggs, but those within the company I deal with have been great.  My company is very small and they have bent over backwards trying to help us get the most out of everything we do with them.  I get the feeling you probably still have no idea why they call.  I feel as if your frustration comes from fielding their calls for five years with no success, and in that case you probably need to find a new job.

They have called here as well. While this "Albert Alam" is not rude, he has a thick accent and I couldn't understand what he was saying. I asked him to slow down and repeat the information. He said the same thing over and over again, same speed! I thought it was a solicitation call, but wanted to forward it along, as they used the names of some clients of our company, and I didn't want to be rude to a client, so I forwarded his message on to a Partner here. After investigating further, I realized he wasn't calling form PhamaAllignment, but from Markus Evans. I don't know how many more times he will call, but he has me on his radar! Megan Riley tried me too saying she was with the Private Wealth Group, which was clearly a lie.  It was URGENT and she was in meetings all afternoon.  I copied her number from caller ID.  Megan, if you are reading this, believe you me that you are DEEP SIXED.  DO NOT CALL AGAIN.

Received three calls in as many business days. A nervous-sounding young woman claimed her name was "Megan Smith" and later "Megan Riley." Initially said she was with the "CLO Group." Refused to provide contact info claiming she was traveling or in meetings all day. The number has been linked to Marcus Evans, the Hospital Group of America and THG, International Publishing. Provided 312.540.3000, extension 6765 as her phone number.

I got a call from "Kisha" looking to speak with our company CEO about a "client referral."  She was very unwilling to give me any background or any information about why she was calling, why she needed to speak with our CEO or why our CEO would care to speak with her.  It was very odd and I told her that there was no way that our CEO would call anyone back without knowing who they are or why they would call.  I looked up the phone number and it goes to Marcus Evans out of the Chicago area.  If that was an attempt at a sales call it was one of the weakest tries I've ever heard.

I looked up Marcus Evans on the web, found General Manager contact info.  This person's name is Theron Burraway and his e-mail address is theronb@marcusevansch.com.  If anyone gets a call from this company you should immediately be aware of their tactics and ask them to stop calling your organization.
