Good post, I can add to that though. I was applying to an online job offer that directed me to an offer asking me if I wanted to join an online school. I clicked on "No, thanks". A few days later this number called me. Therefore, even if you do not want to be bothered by these people, they still have your information...somehow....(*Twighlight theme*)

They called twice, I didn't answer... cuz I didn't know the number, I googled it and found this website, they called again and I answered. It was just a girl like in a restaurant or a mall asking for John... I told her there was no John here... and that was it...

I too, have been getting calls, 5 just today in a space of 6-7 hours. I haven't answered yet mostly because I haven't been around the phone and it only rings 4 times or so. This is a new number so I am not sure how they got a hold of it.

How do you email them?  I've been getting calls also.

I found out who the number belongs to. It belongs to College Matching Service in Chicago. I sent them an e-mail and let them know that I was going to file a complaint with the FTC and not to call me again.

I've recieved 3 calls so far today no messages and if its kaplan i havent spoken to someone from there in 2 years!!! how dare they

These guys have called me twice yesterday and once today. They called me at 1238 then at 1636 yesterday. Today they called at 0932. I don't know who they are. I called back twice and all I got was a busy signal. When I answer they don't say anything. If they are a business I need to know who they are so I can file a complaint with the FTC. If they are a private citizen I would like to know who they are so I can report them to the authorities for harassing phone calls.

I just got two phone calls from that number this morning. Left no voicemail either. I guess whatever it was, it was not imporant enough. LOL!. Sorry I do not pick up on numbers I dont know anymore, and if it's that imporant. You'll leave me a voicemail, all businesses do that even doctors.

They have called me about 6 times in the last two days. This is very annoying, they don't say anything when I answer.

Calls several times a day

This number has called me several times this week and all they do is call and hang up or call and not leave a message and I would like for it to stop...Is there some way to have such things as this blocked from my phone.

Same thing is happening to me, because I looked into some technology classes online.  This calls are costing money on my cell.  I am looking into how to stop unwanted calls.  If anyone finds a way please advise us.  Thanks....

There is some reasonable expectation of privacy. Kaplan is the responsible party so don't defend them one bit. That is the problem we have more or less they use the internet to advertise their product then they should be responsible for protecting all parties using the internet to acquire their services. If they won't then do not advertise on the internet. Then again it would not be nice to post Kaplan employees personal information on line or give it out to anyone now would it. It is a two way street. When I talk to someone from Kaplan they should tell me they are sending my info to someone else and then ask if that okay.

This is not the first time this number called me. I think it's the number app that sprint has and people is palying on my phone. I don't really care I wish that they stop calling my phone before I have the cops involve.

When you submit a request looking for information on college opportunities via the internet the request form you fill out goes to several different online colleges and they receive your information to contact you.  In some cases students that are currently enrolled in college go online and fill out forms for scholarships etc, for whatever reason those requests get dispursed to colleges in the form of leads interested in school as well.  Kaplan University isn't the only school getting your information and maybe rather than assume because Kaplan is the first or only college to contact you immediately you should look more into the area on the internet you are putting your personal information, that may be how your info is getting out there.  If a number contacts you and you never tell them you're not interested they will more than likely continue to contact you, as you submitted a request for info they are trying to contact you to get your business.  If you truly have no desire or interest in a specific college that contacts you it is very simple, tell them that and ask to be removed from all their lists.  This number shows no association with Kaplan so I don't understand why they are the ones being talked about negatively, I would say the common denominator of Kaplan University in these conversations say that they are doing their jobs and contacting potential students right away as they should be.  If you don't want to be hounded by schools, telemarketers etc. I would say start calling places directly and inquire about services or programs rather than put personal info on the web.

I have not signed up for any online colleges, or given my cell phone out to anyone other than a few close friends, and yet this number has called me three times today alone - five in total. I ignored them the first three, and then picked up. The first time, I heard nothing, and the second, I heard mumbling in some sort of accent, but I couldn't quite place it. All I'm wondering is how they got my number in the first place!

I was thinking about enrolling with Kaplan, not anymore! They are the only university I have contacted and I have seen a number of posts from other Kaplan students regarding this number so I think we can all safely say, "we are being sold out". I just lost my interest in Kaplan.....

BINGO! I would say Kaplan is sharing our info as well as I was exploring options regarding returning to college and this is the only college I have contacted so far, go figure. Is nothing sacred anymore? Guess I'm not interested in this particular college anymore since I had nonstop calls during our families supper hour this evening, good grief!

I requested information from Kaplan a few weeks ago as well. Ever since this morning at 9am (6-6-11) I've received three phone calls from this number. I don't pick up and they don't leave a message. I looked it up and the 312 area code is in the Chicago area.

I too signed up on line last week for information. Must have something to do with Kaplan. I'm calling them next.
